Evangelists are really funny to say the least. They claim to be Christians yet all they do is yell at others and threaten "You're going to Hell." I'm sorry but last I checked God is the judge. We members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are members of Jesus Christ's church. I'd love to go to one of these that has the protesters. I'd have some serious fun with them.
Many recent changes in law are partially a result of those who claim to be religious yet are so intolerant of everyone who does not agree with them. I have never seen anyone of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints going around with this type of behavior because it is contrary to our doctrine and teachings. Jesus Christ taught to love others unconditionally and to be as a little child something sadly so many who claim to be Christian seem to miss completely.
When Jesus confronted the Pharisees, was He acting like a little child then? OR how about when he threw out the money changers?
You say Mormons wouldn't do that but everyday around the world, Mormon Missionaries go house to house telling people that their church is an abomination in the sight of God.
I use to be LDS and found through study, prayer and the help of the Holy Spirit that the LDS Church is not what Christ started.
That is incorrect missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints DO NOT tell people their church is an abomination, in fact, to quote Joseph Smith himself:
"We do not ask any people to throw away any good they've got. We only ask them to come and get more." -Joseph Smith
When the missionaries gave me my lessons, one of the first things they taught me was that Joseph Smith had a vision from God, and God told Joseph that ALL the churches were an ABOMINATION to him.
How does this not put down other churches? This is what all missionaries do when giving lessons. The potential convert is told that there church is an abomination in God's site.
You should get to know what these young men and women teach.
That is not correct the missionaries do not teach that all churches are an abomination or put down any good that does exist no matter where it may be.
"...the missionaries [don't] teach that all churches are an abomination [sic]."
I was at Temple Square last summer and two sister missionaries gave me a tour of the area. At the conclusion of the tour they gave me a pamphlet called "The Testimony of Joseph Smith the Prophet" which included the famous quotation which has God calling all other churches "abominations". I asked them about it, and they confirmed that this was an accurate characterization of other denominations.
Quote continues... "And everything comes in this way. Hence if Jesus had a Father, can we not believe that He had a Father also? I despise the idea of being scared to death at such a doctrine, for the Bible is full of it. I want you to pay particular attention to what I am saying. Jesus said that the Father wrought precisely in the same way as His Father had done before Him. As the Father had done before? He laid down His life, and took it up the same as His Father had done before."
Mormons go to hell for devaluing God and Jesus. What does the Bible say about who goes to hell? Jesus said to beware of false Christs and prophets (Mt. 24:24). He said that unless you believe that He is God, you'll die in your sin (Jn. 8:24). He said that eternal life is based on knowing God and Jesus (Jn. 17:3). And Paul said that idolaters go to hell (1 Cor. 6:9). LDS devalue God/Jesus by holding that He didn't create everything else. They turn Him into another human albeit an exalted one.
I don't know why anybody's mentioning about Muslims when these "Evangelicals" won't even go to Catholics. When was the last time you stood outside of the Vatican and handed out anti-Catholic literature? Hmmm..? It always seems to be the Mormons that Evangelicals are after. If anybody doubts this, just walk into any Christian bookstore and look to see how many anti-Catholic books there are vs. anti-Mormon books. I rest my case.
I know of at least one Catholic who was among these Evangelicals (one year) trying to warn LDS. Many Evangelicals hold that Catholics have the same God as they do. The same can't be said of the cult of Mormonism. You are trying to tell these particular people that their passion to reach out to LDS they love is somehow wrong simply because you see 1:18 of their lives.
So by your statement, are you saying that this Catholic is no longer Catholic if he was standing side by side with Evangelicals against Mormons? If not, then I don't get that. Sure you may both believe in the same God (thanks to the Nicene Creed), but from that point on, that's about where it ends. So then you're O.K. with him praying to Mary, saints and angels? or bowing before the pope? or confessing sins to priests? Baby baptisms? etc., etc. If so, then why the double standard with them?
It doesn't follow that the Catholic magically became an Evangelical simply by warning LDS with them. Traditional Christians don't care about peripheral issues that don't bar one from heaven. "In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, but in all things charity." Simply because as a Protestant Evangelical I disagree with Catholic distinctives is no reason for me to think they are going to hell like cults like Mormonism, JW's, etc. who teach other gods.
So let me get this straight. Mormons are going to hell because we believe that we have the potential to become like gods, yet Catholics get a free pass to pray to others that they view as god-like and that's not relevant to their eternal salvation? You say it's absolutely horrible that we believe in Joseph Smith, yet they follow the teachings of popes who've said and done things waaayyy worse then what Joseph Smith and Brigham Young ever did? But that's o.k., yet ours isn't? Doesn't make sense.
There's not a verse in the Bible that says that praying to others who are inferior to God, and thus not the Creator of everything else, will lead one to hell. As for popes, I agree that they are all imperfect. But at least they weren't teaching a false God who didn't create everything else.
That's utter nonsense!! Obviously you've never read Ex. 20:4-5. You also keep making reference to our believing in a God that is not the Creator of "everything else" (whatever that means). We believe that "Christ, acting under the direction of the Father, was and is the Creator of ALL things". (Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, pg. 169; D. & C. 38:1-4; 76:22-24; John 1:1-3; Heb.1:2: Moses 1;2;3.). Jesus lives and His church is true. I am no longer responding to these ridiculous comments. Bye.
For LDS "ALL" here is relative to only concerning us and the worlds God is in charge of. This is a deceptive prop to make LDS look good to Christians. LDS know Jesus didn't create Lucifer or any other human spirit, since they are all younger brothers and sisters. Jesus didn't create the planet He was born on as a spirit child. Jesus didn't create His spirit grandfather's planet. Jesus didn't create matter or intelligences since they are eternal. Jesus didn't create His spirit crib or diapers.
"Here, then, is eternal life--to know the only wise and true God; and you have got to learn how to be Gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all Gods have done before you, namely, by going from one small degree to another until you attain to the resurrection of the dead, and are able to dwell in everlasting burnings, and to sit in glory, as do those who sit enthroned in everlasting power" (Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, 346-7).
"If Abraham reasoned thus—If Jesus Christ was the Son of God, and John discovered that God the Father of Jesus Christ had a Father, you may suppose that He had a Father also. Where was there ever a son without a father? And where was there ever a father without first being a son? Whenever did a tree or anything spring into existence without a progenitor?" (Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, 373).
Ever heard Lorenzo Snow's statement: "As man is, God once was; as God is man may be"? The LDS God didn't create matter or elements since they are eternal (read D&C 93:29-35 and 131:7-8 with Abraham 3:18-28). What is utter nonsense is the devalued LDS God!
I believe, and so do Catholics, and many Protestants, and Orthodox, that we may become "gods." Call them whatever you want. It makes no difference. None of these groups hold that they are all of the same human nature as God. These groups hold that God created literally everything outside Himself, and thus He is as Jesus said, "the only true God" (Jn. 17:3). This exalts God, whereas Mormonism devalues God by making Him an exalted man.
You aren't looking hard enough. Do a search for Jay Smith. Further, so what? Can you blame most Christians for not wanting to take a chance in having their heads chopped off? Do you preach to them? If not, are you scared? If it's that you're too nice to preach, then you're not like Christ.
Evangelists are really funny to say the least. They claim to be Christians yet all they do is yell at others and threaten "You're going to Hell." I'm sorry but last I checked God is the judge. Jesus did not play "nice, nice" or act like a little child when confronting the Pharisees.
Mormons, you cannot be like Jesus. This is impossible, so take off the clothes of self righteousness.

Were they going to share THEIR faith, or just tear down the faith of the LDS people?
There's a big difference, you know.
