the actual tuning to the rhythm guitar is DADF#AD. it doesn't make a huge difference playing in standard, but there are some things that stone gossard does that you won't be able to if you don't tune it correctly. they're minor but i thought i'd let everyone know! thanks for posting the video!

I might be hearing it wrong, but I have always head the 6-5-3-0 part as an octave higher.

Great lesson though, it's the most accurate.

@VHBravo1 If you are talking about 3:51 then yes. That guitar is using the 7th fret of the G and B string which I think is what you are talking about. You are hearing the 2nd g-tars higher strings stand out while the 1st guitar that's doing the 6-5-3-0 you mentioned earlier blends in with the bass and fills out the background.

The lead part of this song (Stone Gossard (aka the first riff Marty teaches above) plays this in Open D tuning for any Pearl Jam nutters like myself out there. I play this song constantly, and quite often use Open D, it's a nice alternate tuning method to screw around with. Open D is (starting at the high E string) DADF#AD (Each string down a whole step except for G which only goes down half a step)
