N8 is better in the phone. iOS has a lot more apps athan s3 but s3 has all the nesessary Opera, Skype, Gmail, Messenger that you need for normal usage.

@WeEatBrainz Actually, the n8 camera is comparable to low/mid-end point and shoots and sometimes even rivals the quality of select DSLRs. A few amateur movies have been made with the n8 and also an n8 was used to shoot a magazine cover, implying that it is good enough for those kinds of things. The nokia n8 is in a league of it's own in terms of camera performance. Also, megapixels don't matter, I have a 903SH with 3.2 MP and it kills my X10 with 8MP, do some research.

Sure the base os is fine, the base os for WebOS was great too, but there are no developers, it will never be updated to modern smartphone standards and its more or less a really early version of android. At least webOS was original and had some unique design.

Having owned a Nokia N8 and my sister who owns an iPhone 4 I can say that Nokia N8 is superior in durability, camera and price wise. The iPhone on the other hand have better range of apps and ease of use. You need to sync your mp3s on iPhones while on the N8, you can merely drag and drop your mp3. Screen resolution differences between the 2 phones makes no difference to me as their screen are small, not some 19" monitor. Overall I can say the phone suitability is depending on your preferences.

I am an N8 user. I have to say, although N8 can take a better picture than the iPhone 4 you need to do proper adjustment to your camera settings in order to get a good picture. iPhone 4 on the other hand is simpler to use. Just point and shoot and you'll get a good picture in most lighting condition. For the N8, just merely point and shoot might get you a nasty picture.
And oh, my N8 died after 3 days. Sent to the tech where they need to change the phone's board (fried). N8's good but beware.

And iPhone 4 users, the front facing camera is nothing to brag about - Nokia has had this feature & video chat on foreign carriers (Europe, Japan, etc) since the early 2004/2005.

My next mobile phone stands Between Samsung Galaxy S i9000 and Nokia N8 ... :-)
@dagbli I dunno, images have been out from early spring of the N8.
I am sure the N8 physically is tip-top. 1st 5 band phone, all the Nokia bells and whistles like Fm transmitter etc etc.... the big problem is symbian. The fact they chose it knowing they will switch to Meego on there newer devices makes the N8 a dead end platform that you can expect no updates for.
My advise is wait for the likely Meego powered N9. Or get a Galaxy S; a high powered device with mediocre OS and Support.
I hope the n8 fails miserably. That’ll teach nokia that they can’t just abandoned their failed products like the n97, and leave all the people who wasted their money on it without proper software updates, or at least an apology.

@WeEatBrainz Actually, the n8 camera is comparable to low/mid-end point and shoots and sometimes even rivals the quality of select DSLRs. A few amateur movies have been made with the n8 and also an n8 was used to shoot a magazine cover, implying that it is good enough for those kinds of things. The nokia n8 is in a league of it's own in terms of camera performance. Also, megapixels don't matter, I have a 903SH with 3.2 MP and it kills my X10 with 8MP, do some research.

Feature-wise; Symbian is just as good as iOS and Android, and things like screensavers and an FM transmitter are unique to Nokia/Symbian. @oiitsdillon Symbian is dead and it has approximately 4 apps. I never said it needs to be flashy, it just needs to be fairly unique and not look like absolute shit (like android). The only 2 oses that are fairly unique and look good are WP7 and iOS. iOS might not look very original anymore because horrible operating systems have been stealing the base design for years. And who the fuck listens to fm radio hahaha, i can get fm radio streamed in an app, because...iOS actually has some apps :)

Check out pictures taken with the N8 on flickr, you will be astonished. The camera is far more proficient than to take random snaps, this is a true camera put into a phone.

Sure the base os is fine, the base os for WebOS was great too, but there are no developers, it will never be updated to modern smartphone standards and its more or less a really early version of android. At least webOS was original and had some unique design.

Having owned a Nokia N8 and my sister who owns an iPhone 4 I can say that Nokia N8 is superior in durability, camera and price wise. The iPhone on the other hand have better range of apps and ease of use. You need to sync your mp3s on iPhones while on the N8, you can merely drag and drop your mp3. Screen resolution differences between the 2 phones makes no difference to me as their screen are small, not some 19" monitor. Overall I can say the phone suitability is depending on your preferences.

I am an N8 user. I have to say, although N8 can take a better picture than the iPhone 4 you need to do proper adjustment to your camera settings in order to get a good picture. iPhone 4 on the other hand is simpler to use. Just point and shoot and you'll get a good picture in most lighting condition. For the N8, just merely point and shoot might get you a nasty picture.
And oh, my N8 died after 3 days. Sent to the tech where they need to change the phone's board (fried). N8's good but beware.

@Dethphunk You're right about the N8, in fact, Nokia as a whole. They're know to have build qualities that are ALWAYS beyond standard. No current or future mobile phone manufacturers can come close to Nokia quality. Only if Nokia devices were widely marketed in the US, it'll be a definite game changer for most US users. And iPhone 4 users, the front facing camera is nothing to brag about - Nokia has had this feature & video chat on foreign carriers (Europe, Japan, etc) since the early 2004/2005.

Uh, "quality"? What quality? iPhone is definitely just as high quality materials as the N8. How is "pictures" a different point than "camera"? And to some, the iPhone actually takes better photos and videos than the N8. It's a matter of opinion. "Program multitasking"? Well seeing as the iPhone's multitasking doesnt kill your battery and the programs actually don't suck balls, I'd say it wins there too.. Customization sure. "overall phone features, et. etc. etc."? in my opinion. nokia wins by far. its way better mainly. and cheaper and cooler in looks and epicer (: i honestly suggest a nokia n8 for any buyers. but dont buy the orange ones because it might run out and i like it :P

I started with a Ericsson GH688, Nokia 3210, Nokia 3310, Nokia 5210, Nokia 6230, Nokia N70, Nokia 6290, Nokia N95 8GB, Sony Ericsson W810 (This one I got it for free ... a piece of crap), LG KC910 Renoir and now I got a Nokia N97.
My next mobile phone stands Between Samsung Galaxy S i9000 and Nokia N8 ... :-)

@dagbli I dunno, images have been out from early spring of the N8.
I am sure the N8 physically is tip-top. 1st 5 band phone, all the Nokia bells and whistles like Fm transmitter etc etc.... the big problem is symbian. The fact they chose it knowing they will switch to Meego on there newer devices makes the N8 a dead end platform that you can expect no updates for.
My advise is wait for the likely Meego powered N9. Or get a Galaxy S; a high powered device with mediocre OS and Support.
