  • Im junking out a old player piano called a kohlmann or rohlmann anybody have any information on these units

  • Is that red thing the hammers are hitting the mandolin rail?

  • That is where the mandolin rail would be, except in this case, it is damper for the piano, since this piano is *extremely* loud.

  • Oh! Thanks! Do you plan to get a mandolin rail?

  • Probably not. I like the sound of the mandolin rail, but it is hard on the hammers.

  • Oh, well I've heard of people sticking tacks into the hammers. Does that put less wear and tear?

  • Very close to the real deal!

  • IT does put less wear and tear, however it does allot of damage to the actual felt.. and if you want to take them out again would have to have most of the hammers re voiced..

  • Is this a Charley Straight roll? This sounds like "He'd Have to Get Out and Get Under"... but I'm not sure if he made a roll of that.

  • It may well be. I'll have to find the roll first. I'll report back (once I find it).

  • Hey, it does sound like the chorus is up and coming doesn't it?

  • The roll label says: PLAY-RITE, "Let's Talk About My Sweetie," Kahn/Donaldson, Played by Leonard Smith, 742-A WORD ROLL, QUALITY SINCE 1890.

  • Hey, thats great, Ive got a 1920 Lexington with that same Simplex action.

  • great video!
