My love for Jethro Tull music fill`s the gammit of emotion`s I could put this same comment on for any and every song !, I`ve seen JT in stadium to small theater, it just blows me away how clear and clean they sound. plain and simple it would no doubt be 1 band I would have, if I was stuck on a island and only have 3 choices of what I could bring with me.
The mouse police are psychotic sadistic killers, well my one is anyway, he hates Tulls "one brown mouse" as well, has no taste for good food or music.
first there were the beatles - of course. then after some years there was Tull. i was sitting in my room listening to heavy horses and songs from the wood over and over for hours, staring at the covers, trying to get everything they had to tell me. between 77 and 80 i saw them twice life- even in my provincial german hometown and for me it was mindblowing.
today i listen to electro, techno but whenever i hear tull i know that they´ll always have a place in my heart. What a band to grow up with
The ending to this song features in one of my earliest memories. My parents are huge Tull fans, and they used to make mix tapes to play on road trips. I was maybe 6 when I heard this song in the car. Just the end of it. It woke me up and scared the hell out of me. I couldn't stand Jethro Tull for years afterward. Then, when I was in Jr. High, I saw some of my parents Jethro Tull records and played them out of curiosity. Been a fan ever since, and this is one of my all time favorite songs.
@IdahoGirl63 +1! It was 1978, the live gig from Madison Square Garden, It totally changed my mind of music and guitar playing(Martin Barrè!) Together with the wonderful evenings from Rockpalazt in Germany where I met Little Feat, Rory Gallagher and Wishbone Ash and other great bands/musicians it was IT. Saw JT live 2009, GREAT! Gonna get Uriah Heep live now in a week. Old bands seldom die!
@melville80 : There's a field with a few of the UK's remaining working horses toiling in it - whenever I pass by there (very little now I live in Zone 2 London City), I can't think straight until I listen to Heavy Horses or Songs from the Wood.
And my bitch of a wife smashed my original vinyls, so all I have are unCLEANED cd-copies.
Do they even sell Records any more? The guy at HMV looked at me like I was an alien when I asked if he has the EP version and not the LP 12"
It's strange that I love this song so much; I should hate it since I was named after Ian Anderson..

Why do especially Germans like Tull? Are the lyrics too weird for native speakers?

Every perfect morning starts with a Tull Song

This song is innovative and complete in so many ways. Right up until the coughed up hairball at the end.

I'm a huge Tull fan, and my cat just caught a mouse in the kitchen, a yearly fall ritual. I had to come and listen to this.
