Let's also forget that water is as good as sand to put out flames. Except that sand is usually better, water will boil and turn into mist. Ice pokemon atacks would turn into water when hitting flames, so i can guess ice is as effective as water on fire Pokemon, right? (Stop worrying about types, enjoy the anime.)

Actually... It does, in a way, make sense to make such a mistake. After all, water does evaporate when exposed to heat. I am not a all backing up 4kids, they wouldent be able to tell a damn obo from an elbow, but when water is exposed to a massive heat source, it can evaporate. One may think this is the reason water types dont do well in sunshine.
