lol this happend to me with a jailbroken ipod but i fixed it by putting it in dfu mode and restoring it to factory settings then jailbreaking with grean poison but deleted the jailbreak loader app then putting my stuff back on it now my ipod 2g thinks its running ios 5.0.1 and its thinking its a 3rd itouch

I fixed it by Holding the power AND home button at the same time, plug out the cable, and then immediately when it reboots, release the POWER button, but keep holding the home button, and plug in the cable. (do this quick).

And then it will connect to your computer and you can recover it in ITunes.

1. hold power button and home button 4 30 seconds

2. let go of power button and continue holding down home button 4 10 seconds  ur ipod should soon reboot then it will say u have 2 connect to iTunes plug ur ipod into computer then click restore on ur computer it will restore and then ur ipod will be like u just took it out of the box

just get the iphone in Dfu mode then plug it again in computer

open the itune and back up and restore

Put it in recovery mode:

Hold Power and Home Buttons until its screen is black.

When the apple icon comes back, release the power button but keep holding the homebutton. You will see the itunes logo and a USB cable.

Connect your iDevice to your PC, start iTunes then it will say:

"iTunes have found an iDevice in recovery mode, you must restore it before you can use it with iTunes" Click on "Restore" let it do what it needs to do.

Done!

(unfortunately you will lose all data on the iDevice.)

so, i just used this ipod fix on my friend's IPHONE and it worked!!!! i have discovered a fix for the ipod AND iphone! :)

If You Tried To Jailbreak I Know How Yo Fix:

1. Run redsn0w.exe and load the IPSW firmware file

2. One you have come into the box screen, uncheck all boxes except Just boot tethered so the Just boot tethered box should be ticked

3. Turn off the iPod and enter DFU mode (watch youtube videos on how to enter DFU mode)

4. Let the program do its magic :)

5. When it says finished, click on finished. Your iPod touch should have a pineapple logo.

6. After 3-6 minutes it should be booted!

you can fix this problem without a restore, jut leave it plugged into itunes for maximun a day and it backs itself up, that is if you have cydia and cydia is the problem, it puts it into safe mode so you can delete the last thing you installed.

Press HOME & HOLD buttons together.

Once ipod is off, release buttons.

Open iTunes & plug cord into ipod, but not the computer (yet).

Hold HOME button & insert cord into computer...

Keep holding until device is bricked.

iTunes should recognize the device and will need to be restored..
