Old Teisco guitars do have that nice warm funky twang. I play some ZZ Top stuff on mine and it sound so sweet. Nice Guitar and keep playing sounds good.
Back when this guitar was new, there was not much parts standardization. Everyone made their own pickups, they didn't just pop in a pair of Gibson style, Fender style or Gretsch style pickups like they do today. It makes it a bit of a pain when you need to replace one, because it usually means buying another guitar to get them or chiseling out the openings to fit newer pickups. Not many people bother to strip the early Japanese guitars for parts because they are so cheap it's not worth it.
