  • Crotch ripper haha

  • WHY WAS HE DQ'D? DID THEY RULE IT AN ILLEGAL TECHNIQUE? IF SO WHY? I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW YOU CAN SUBMIT AND REF STOP ACTION AND WALK AWAY WITH THE VICTORY AND MOVE FOWARD IN THE TOURNAMENT.........IM CONFUSED

  • Awsome

  • even if it had never been don before and this was the 1st time anybody had ever seen it...why would a tap be a DQ unless it was off a fowl. Now knowing what the rules of this exact contest were, but I should think the fowl are clearly defined defore hand

  • that ref would definitely catch an ass whooping, i'd have bought him eddie bravo's mastering the rubber guard book and told him to read up on his shit

  • Gotta say, if I was DQed because the retarded referee didn't recognize the sub I'd probably punch him.

  • filmed with a potato

  • i just saw the instructional video and i think it's a great technique, it's a shame that, as always, when the human being can't understand something the most common reaction it's to deny it. Great fight and awesome technique, tanks!

  • If you look close enough you can see the "WTF?" clouds above everyones heads.

  • great vid, just need more room, too many resets

  • Dope simply dope I actualy just learned the spider web and gogo plata today I love doing jiu jitsu I am training for mma and jiu jitsu is my fav

  • Wtf! That was nice!

  • It was a knee bar. Simple.

  • @BlackSheepOfJiuJitsu It was an Electric Chair, you down syndrome

  • I just started to use the Electric Chair submission. The first time I tapped someone with it I put a little too much into it. I didn't know how effective it was. I ease into the submission slowly, now-a-days, but I love clamping it on.

  • :55 on the left the match beside them that dude is huge

  • Nice job.

  • That throw at 2:03 was amazing

  • They fear the evolution of the sport. He tapped, game over!

  • Dq that's fuckin BULLSHIT!!

  • are you serious? they DQ'D HIM? WTF

  • That was a fun match to watch, really brought me back to my wrestling days when that whizzer arm throw was thrown, looked and worked out great. Submission was awesome too, props to both comepetitors.

  • you're both very good, excellent judo, and top control! It's cool the ref let you guys keep it standing so much. Last comp I was in you lost points for stepping back if you weren't engaged. BJJ needs a rules update to keep up with the newer techniques.

  • Exact same thing happened to me last weekend. In the finals I pulled an electric chair which the ref made me let go of because he thought it was a knee bar. I went on to lose. Still dissapointed

  • Is the 10th planet jiujitsu DVD an instructional DVD

  • What's 10th planet jiujitsu? Is it a diff. Kind of jiujitsu?

  • @brozac1011 check out 10th planet videos on youtube. it is still jiu jitsu, but it has a heavy focus in a different kind of guard called the rubber guard. also twister side control. its too soon to say for sure but it might just be the next big evolution in bjj. i personally dont use rubber guard much but im a huge fan of twister side control. sadly nobody else here in Wisconsin where i train really uses it so i dont have anyone to help me with questions :(

  • @superbeagle8 Rubber guard progressions are sick man. I highly recommend developing the flexibility for it. They are like a choose your own adventure book.

  • @brozac1011 They've got more of a focus on no-gi grappling. I think a little more involved with MMA as well. Eddie Bravo is a real legit dude, never been to a 10th Planet but I'd love to go. If you have to opportunity to check one out, I'd recommend doing so.

  • great match the more i watch the more i want to learn..

  • ouch!

  • why did they restart the match from open guard when they first rolled off the mats? it seems as if the guy in blue short was in a good position to pass???

  • This move is bad ass if your opponent isn't to flexible

  • O and i just saw you execute that this time...NICE mate... im gunna try that next time.. This is why Youtube is great =]

  • That was an awsome attempt at the throw @ 0.33..... or atleast thats what it looked like you were going for

  • awesome shoulder throw, props.

  • how can u be DQ'd as of a result of others not knowing of a term?

    Great job tho

  • damn i love this submission

  • Really nice takedown at 2:00

  • @Greave12 yeah moving into side control sucks so bad... O.o especially when you were on the bottom initially.

  • crotch ripper!!

  • that was awesome,it was bloody professional.

  • piece of shit this promotion is, what if he rolled on his head n broke his neck? instead of calling a technical submission "sorry, he wasnt nearly decapitated by a known submission move, so he wins by DQ"

  • thats bullshit, i dont even like watching submission comps but i know i clear win when i see one, a boxer wouldnt get dq'd for a weird (yet clean) knockout

  • no doubt, dude. i dont mean to critique but its imperative you know your submissions when being contested by the judges, cause this guy was dq for a completely legal move.

and, i dont know if you train, but even if you cant get the submission, the sweep works almost every time from lockdown as long as you whip high enough. if you havent read eddies book '' jiu jitsu unleashed'', i recommend it highly.

  • no doubt, bro. i only mention it in case you ever compete and they try to dq you for an illegal move, which it isnt.

i dont know if you train, but as a white belt with no stripes i catch higher belts with this move all the time, its sick. even if you cant get the submission, you can always get the sweep if you whip high enough.

  • better check your program. electric chair is a knee/calf torque, nothing at all to do with a groin stretch, when done CORRECTLY.

  • maybe i'm doing it wrong because i onla learned it from the video, but if i do it or get it done to me, it twists my knee, no stretching to groin area, but tha t might also come from flexibility

  • just a missunderstanding from both parties i guess ankle locks were'nt allowed or something great fight anyway, sweet throw

  • It's not an ankle lock.

  • lmfao ha that was far from a crotch ripper.. he was attacking the knee an that is a beautiful move via eddie bravo....

  • heh, what the hell? do you really have to do something that's written in a book or something? as long as he tapped... it's fine no? :S

  • crotch ripper?? wth was he thinking

  • Is this the novice division?

  • Was that like a drop seoi nagi at 2.03? Sweet.

  • Yeah, but he dropped for no reason, he would have had big throws if he had confidence and exploded through them. I only drop as people try to counter, there is no reason to prematurely drop, unless its a guy like lister who drops to the guard anytime you get close then I shoot through and down on the throw.

  • That was seoi otoshi.

  • my friend trains there he does it to me all the time

  • wow thats pretty gay, fuck them, nice job man

  • I LIKE TO EAT PIE and do BJJ

  • @itlax18 rofl

  • @itlax18 is eat pie a code word for something;)

  • @itlax18 i eat key lime pie while rolling

  • @itlax18 and I'm all out of pie.

  • awesome submission i do bjj with gi and also no gi as well as mma and that shouldnt have been desqualified WTF! it was so sweet

  • He got the tap, thats all that matters. Its not his fault the ref has no clue as to what he is looking at.

  • It is easier to just duck under the leg, pop out behind and either work an ankle lock or try to take the back.

I like the Electric Chair because it is easy to catch if the guy you are rolling with doesn't know the move, but some guys I roll with are so flexible that getting them to tap to the Electric Chair is just impossible. I had one guy out to a full split and had him just look back at me and ask "Is that all you've got from there?"

  • If he doesn't tap you just get up and sweep instead.

  • You weren't doing it right then, It's more about the hip joint than flexibility , althought poor flexibility makes it easier

  • @dasdabull

if a guy can do the splits plus has powerful legs, you aren't even gonna get up to finish the sweep

  • It's a foot lock. Why not?

  • Maybe in the States but when I had my match they wouldn't do that. They only DQ'd you if you went for fingers, or toes. They actually would dig on something like this at my dojo.

  • That was sick at 2:03

  • thats arm spin for ya, beautiful and effective if done quick and fast enough

  • lol "i dont know what the fuck that was but it has to be illegal. DQ!"

  • That is why I roll nude and lightly oiled so I won't get caught in this stuff!!! hahahaha

  • awesome submission. too bad on the DQ

  • wow, great rollin!!

kudos to both, regardless of the outcome - that was an awesome match.

  • wow pretty nice !!!

  • lemme get this straight they can dq u if the submission is uncommon/unknown!!?!?!?! That's some old BULLSHIT!!!!

  • na if it is known/announced b4 the tournament as illegal. but its easy 2 c how the officials messed up

  • "he cant hear you" lol

  • i have no idea why that is illegal- in any tournament. Even with GI, its not a heel hook

its a groin stretch, give me a break. I use this all the time- i have yet to hurt anyone serious

    I have cranked it too

  • you guys done a great job~

  • So...I'm the guy in the blue shorts. First of all, I give Chris FULL CREDIT for the submission. It hurt and I tapped. Believe me, I'm not walking around town bragging about this match as a win. I tapped because he locked my left knee when my heel was stuck on his shoulder, not because of the groin stretch. They DQd him because knee locks were illegal in that competition, which I told them not to because that's not how i wanted it to end. Great Job Chris, hope to see you there next year.

  • Hey Bro:

You are a class act and many people told me the same story. Top notch competitor in my eyes! Your shoulder throw was SICK too. Love to see a rematch. Where are you training out of?

  • training out of a small gym called TDS in tsawassen (outside of vancouver). Will post a video from the other side of the mat

  • Outside of Vancouver, eh? Ever heard of Franco's Pankration?

  • @Submissions101 Hi. I train JJ in Rockland ON. If I drive down to where you and pay money, can I train with you guys? Cooool.

  • @bjj1500 Hi, can i ask u something? When the guy grabbed your right leg and attempted to push up up @ 2:34, why didn't u just hold on something, like under his right arm or his neck or something? Was the pushing force immense?

  • @bjj1500 Wow, its not often you see this type of courtesy on the internet, especially toutube. You guys are good people. Its rare to see the politeness on the mat carry over into the real world. You guys are both total class acts. I wish i could roll with people like you all day.

  • @quicklikeabunny666 Totally agree. Great job to both guys, and awesome sportsmanship!

  • @bjj1500 Yea it does look kinda like he had a kneebar going there as well. Surely unintentional(well, intentional, but you know what I mean lol). Great throw.

  • @bjj1500 great judo throw.

  • @bjj1500 Class act bro ....class act.

  • @bjj1500

    That was classy judo...........

  • @bjj1500 I liked your takedowns too.......True, you shouldnt brag, but Chris used a submission that wasnt legal in the match. You both did good.....

  • @bjj1500 Nice Jap Wizzer

  • @bjj1500 is that why you put your hands up in the air?

  • @bjj1500 great attitude man. you will go far in whatever you do as long as you maintain integrity like that.

  • @bjj1500 you're a class act sir.

  • Ridiculous that the was decided as a DQ.You could even use that in Judo, where leg submissions arent allowed. For a no-gi BJJ contest to rule that as a DQ is unreal. Nice match Chris

  • I didnt know the reffs had to know what the move was for it to count. <-- Morons.

  • hey guys neww to jiu jitsu......can anyone tell me the difference between japanese j j and bjj

  • Stanleylump22:

    Google can.

  • Great reply!

  • No one can tell the difference. They're practically the same.

  • Honestly, I think that the instructors who TAUGHT him the move, know which move it was. Besides, as they said, it was NOT a listed as an illegal manuver!

  • Its technically a fancy half guard knee bar and the refs missed how to score it as such.... Sad... I would have flipped for getting D.Q.ed

  • seems like a fair move.

  • i figure a taps a tap no mater what.

  • Amen to that!!! He tapped, he lost! Simple.

  • So true.

  • so if the judges dont know what the technique is, and it works, then its a dq? That is so stupid, who cares the vid says it all you made the kid tap and got the W. No judge can take that away.

  • Its was a crotch ripper.. not electric chair

  • well that'sbs

  • pfff for fuck sake did mma start with evry one knowing evry submisson? i dont think so. Coming up with knew techniques should be a part of mma. Like Eddie Bravo did with the rubber guard.

  • Good work!

  • That was a beautiful finish, pure technique, nice job. i can't believe they got away with the dq.

  • That red shirted judge was such a beurocrat. Nice job, we cheered for you, were bummed about the dq.

  • Very nice Electric Chair...this is highway robbery. Disqualificaition due to ignorance of a technique is bullshit, anyway what kind of defense is "It was a crotch-ripper"...that is a legitimate submission in intermediate/advanced no-gi. I honestly don't get how they can get away with the DQ

  • " He tapped - he lost" I agree that the DQ was wrong but your statement is actually wrong. There are rules in place for a reason and if you violate the rules to get a tap then you dont win.

  • What happened to the left ankle of the guy in black rashguard??

  • When they fell off the mat, Chris smashed his hip on the gym floor.

  • Ok.. Looked like his ankle was kind of loose/damaged..

  • very well executed! f' those refs cuz that was clean

  • Somebody want to explain to me what exactly this move does?

  • it stretches out the groin area, which means it won't work on incredibly flexible people.

  • stretches the groin muscles...kinda like you are bein forced into doin the splits

  • So its a lot like the spladle in wrestling

  • yep thats pretty much what it is...nice call

  • its stretching your legs as if youre doing a split, and your stretching past your comfort pain, it can tear the musle.

  • nicely done! from the looks of it it looks like your opponent had to feel the stretch in his hip :) awesome!

  • Call the cops. You've been robbed.

  • I am moving to Houston TX anyone know of any 10th planet affiliates there? Any other suggestions?

  • look up Brandon Quick he teaches out of Ft. Worth I think.

  • a tap is a tap! dq my *ss...

  • Nice submission, bullshit dq.

  • looks like the dude in the grappling broke his ankle.

  • That was sick

  • that was an awesome move!!

  • Electric chair is a great sub, I always compliment my rolling partners on their flexibility when they don't tap to it. And I have also gotten plenty of guys to tap to it in the gym! That's bullshit that he got DQd, what is wrong with crotch rippers? people should fucking stretch

  • thats silly... how can that be illegal in advanced division

  • shit i wish i could've gone to the tigerbalm this year, but it was to expensive.

  • u serous how much was it???

  • i dont know personally but my parents said something like 800 bucks. but that includes the plane ride, i live in terrace

  • Wow amazing... first time ive ever seen it in a competition. Too bad the officials were retards.

  • I was an instructor for 16 years in TKD, trained in Aikido, little JKD, Krav, MMA training and the last few years started training in Gracie ju jitsu system before I had to quit cause the way things are going on in the world. I even seen what he was going for. awesome man. Don't let anyone tell you different you won that match. Period Nice throw too. LOL

  • There you go Eddie. Stuff you mentioned in your first book about the BJJ'ers trying to keep themselves at the top by cutting anyone different out of competition comes true yet again. I guess it's their way of keeping their position in the MA community with bogus for & against stats.

  • Call the cops!

    He was robbed. Nice sub.

  • amazing, a shame the officials dq'ed him out of ignorance, but still, all of us who know whats going on here give Chris Jones total respect for pulling off this submission in competition. Well done Chris!

  • oh i remember the name a REVERSE HEEL HOOK

  • hey! i´ve seen your video of the heel hook but can you post a video that the heel instead of pointing outside, it stays inside like doing the same hook but inverted

  • AH !! come on dqed just because they were so fools to know what was that

  • was that last submission the bananna slit????

  • na its called the electric chair

  • no offensive but eddie makes up new names for stuff that has been around for a while, at my school we call it the banana split, its just done from a different position that usual.

which if your really wanted to argue then i guess it deserves a new name because of the different approach.

  • Electric chair is completely different from the bannana split...

  • Yeah, I wish everybody would stop coming up with "new names" for the SAME MOVES!! Honestly, it makes it a real pain, and could be part of the reason he was even DQ'd???? MAYBE if BJJ tried to unify the names of techniques (a'la judo/karate/kung fu/etc) I honestly think it would be a little easier for people to exchange the techniques, use them in competition, and make them universally ACCEPTED for taining, teaching, AND competitions!

    Just MHO.

  • that throw was unreal cant wait to try.

    10th plant rule !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bogus call. That was solid. And yeah, I liked the drop shoulder throw too. Both competitors were good. Too bad about the refs.

  • Hate to root for the other guy, but that was a nice drop ippon...

  • yes...totally was..we agree.

  • This comp needs to be boycotted for their ignorance.

Post this video all over the net and get the word out. That is complete bullcrap.

  • That was sick! Where did that come from? Very nice

  • 2:05 was nice. But that was bull shit.

  • He should appeal the decision. That's bullshit. Nice sub.

  • way to go!!

  • hmm thats crazy. crotch ripper isn't legal? it was advanced.. that crazy..

  • That sucks Chris keep your head up. I dont know if this move is illegal in mma. And I wonder if anyone has used this in a fight ? Is it even possible for a fighter to do the move while being punched ? Then again it could be possible just like when Shinya Aoki used the De La Riva guard and mounted gogoplata in two seperate ocassions.

  • Should the organizers be discredited for ignorance & unfairness?

Im saying fighters shouldn't go for 187 if they want nigh-unlimited ability to learn & win.

  • Great stuff until the DQ.

Disgraceful, organizers and judges should make these things clearer, and with books, TV, and the Internet they have no excuse for not knowing about 10th planet.

I would go so far as to say given the reactions to Eddy and friend's stuff they could simply require: no 10th planet stuff on the form so they don't have to keep up with the evolution :-P

  • Its gay tha he was DQ thats a sick submission.

  • Looks like a painful submission.

Gotta love the other person's standing technique though, always fun to see seoi nage :).

  • makes me worried about my legs moving from guard or even on top

btw awesom to get a guy like that to tap that vigeriously and stand up knowing he's lost

  • What morons. They're like "Uuuuhhh... I don't know wtf that was, so i'm just gonna say the other guy won..." Pssht! Idiots.

  • Great tap, Chris! I can't believe they would DQ him! I was at the tournament and one of the judges is a well-known jiu-jitsu instructor in Vancouver! Guess it goes to show that all the traditional jiu-jitsu guys don't know everything!!!

  • The best thing about this is the dude he was fighting showed a TON of class by saying he didn't want the DQ and didn't wanna win that way and to let them keep going (even though they let them go it was still a DQ). Sick move Chris, GJ!

  • Excellent submission, regardless of the call. Gotta hand to both guys, it was a great match. Too bad they had to go and ruin a good experience.

  • very well done......BS it was a DQ, should get better judges who actually know what the game
