  • well done! amazing footages and moving music...i loved it!!

  • Very very nice, I was in North Uist last August and this made me cry.

  • Fine job Ron, nice 1 mate! Makes me feel a bit nostalgic i gotta say and makes me feel proud of home-sweet-home! Great imagery. But oi!...where's ma hoose?! Ha...enjoyed mint's b'day bro, some laugh indeed. Will have to catch up with you again sometime. Hope all is well, Ewen

  • Don't thing "ma hoose" was there either!

  • What music is it?

  • The music is credited at the end of the film. "Two Sunsets (Due Tramonti)" by Ludovico Einaudi.

  • Really nice.

  • hi I'm 21 woman hot hit my url to see

  • *****

  • amazing. It makes me proud to be a highlander, and an islander. A good job, well done.

  • Can you please tell me what kind of music it is? Its beautiful. Thanks for post.

  • Beautiful. Except for that tire.

  • hehe I was trying to be abstract!

    Ron :o)

  • Ron...this is absolutely amazing... I have been trying to tell ppl that it's the little things in life that make it so beautiful..and they just don't see it..but you captured it perfectly. Thanks...Dawn

  • Very well done.

  • Thanks!

    Ron :o)

  • How can anyone not be touched by the beauty of this video !

  • what's beautiful!

I will go to scottish island, I got confidence from this film scotland is good place!

  • It made my heart soar and my eyes well up, from the beauty of place and the music combined.

  • Lovely video, but to REALLY understand how amazing the place actually is..you have to go there!! I'm from Strumore in North Uist and have a sea loch outside the house..there's nothing that compares to a sunset on a still night..it's magic!! I've been studying in Glasgow for nearly 4 years but come home on holiday through summers etc..and every time I come home..I'm reminded of why I love it so much. It's almost like it's own wee world..so different to anywhere else!!

    Great video:)

    Linsey

  • Oh, don't you worry, I've been to North Uist 8 times in the past three years, and I am planning a much better film to compliment the island with. This current video was very early, basic work for me. Watch The Bull 2 to see what I'm capable of, and keep an eye out for Uinhist a Tuath 2!!!

    Thanks for the comment.

  • ...that´s it...I´m packing...my bags...

  • uist isnt hard to prounounce at all

reason why its unpronounceable is cos its the scots gaelic way of saying it

uibhist is like u bisk a tuath that may be truth

  • i love living in uist

  • film?! this is more like a powerpoint preso - you greatly flatter yourself with the misnomer 'Director'.

  • Well I also have hours of footage and hundreds of photos from when I was in India, where I notice you are from. Perhaps I'll do a video of that sometime!

  • sounds good, but let's see some, um, movement, okay? actually i'm being a bitch. It's a bloody lovely albiet unpronounceable place, you're lucky to get time there. Hope your stay in India was as beautiful, though I somehow doubt it...

  • Great vid, btw. Captures the essence! Nice music, too. Iunidi? (or however you spell his name!)

  • AND . . . there are some lucky people (and lucky deerhounds) who have the pleasure of a house there!

  • I would love to live in North Uist, total tranquility! Wonderful place and people. I'll be back there at the beginning of January 2007, but only for ten days! :(

  • It is! I have a house there, and five years ago spent a whole 18 months there. Otherwise, I'm afraid it is only during holidays. I am EXTREMELY fortunate to have a house looking west through the gap between the north end of Kirkibost Island and the Kyles Paible bay. One year a corncrake nested in my garden! HOWZAT?

  • Hey! I always stay in Paiblsegarry when I'm there! Usually No.1 or No.13, I'll be in No.13 in January. I've always wanted to get a Corncrake on film! Bloody elusive we creatures! I did get some good footage of an otter, an owl, and various other birdlife though.

  • Well, I'm at the end of the committee road - and in the summer the girls get their first walk of the day on Paiblesgarry beach. I drive down past Calum Iain's. I was there during fireworks week - escaping the whizz bangs that upset the dogs - I've been there in January. Good luck!

  • Yeah I know the MacCorquodales very well! Especially Iain. I'll be back in Uist next week; 3rd - 13th to be precise, so I'll wave at you as I pile down the Committee road towards the Co-op hehe watch out for my wee silver Fiesta with the North Uist bumber sticker!

  • Tha sin dìrech àlainn, sin thu fhèin

  • What

  • Ron, got to your site through bigwallypants. Breathtaking composite of stunning images. Looking forward to your next video project.

    Thanks again

  • I forgot to ask. Which album is the Ludoviko Einaudi piece from ?

    thanks

    J

  • Hi, all the images were actually stills photographed with my Fujifilm Finepix A340 Digital Camera. I used Sony Vegas to edit the video. As for the effects, it was simply a matter of rotating the photos and matching the shots together. The Ludovico Einaudi track was "Due Tramonti: Two Sunsets" and is from the "Eden Roc" Album. Hope this helps! Ron.

  • I forgot to ask. Which album is the Ludoviko Einaudi piece from ?

    thanks

    J

  • Lovely video. I have just returned from a week on the inner Hebridean island of Shuna. I would be interested to know what camera you use and how you created the special effects such as the turning sky and wheel ?

    all the best J

  • Very nice!!! I shall be returning to North Uist 9th - 16th September, so I'll be doing a lot more filming, specifically for editing another video about the island. I'll also be filming a sequel to "The Bull". Look out also for my upcoming video about the Isle of Arran!

  • why didnt you get a picture of Johny Lock and Jack and herly?

  • What program, the editing program? I use Sony Vegas 6. And who the hell are Johny Lock and herly? lol :o/

  • yeh is Sony Vegas 6 a free programe to download? and they are from the tv programe Lost( the ones stuck on a island) ,lol

  • Oh right, I don't watch TV you see, that one went right over my head hehe

  • Well what can i say, I live in north uist! On baleshare to be more precised. I am sorry to tell you that this video cant express enough how beautiful this island is. Wether its snowing and every thing is white, the clear blue seas and yellow/white beaches or in summer when everything is green of the grass and yellow of all the flowers.

  • WOW! Someone from North Uist finally got to see this, that's great! Thanks for the comment mate. I've been to North Uist 6 times in the past 2 years, and I love the place to bits. I usually stay with the Murrays in Paiblesgarry, here's a website I did for them, which compliments the island further... http://www.paibeilcottages.co.uk

I'll be doing another Uist film soon! Thanks for your comment!!!

  • Give my regards to Mary Matheson!!!

  • Wow! That was wonderful.

    -SJP
