This work affirmed me when I desperately needed affirmation. In spite of my father's disaffirmation. Extraordinary work beyond the content. Well done.
@mrspeel7 Out of curiosity? A powerful statement? Just watch the show "teenage Mothers," and substitute this dude's venacular with those chicks and what do you know, they're saying the same exact stuff. Basically, I got my attention (and [love],) from someone or people outside of my blood relatives. Wow, wonderous! How unique and amazing, a child dogging their parent in a forum that the parent cannot defend theirselves. At least those teenage moms get into the faces of their moms:)
@ReevesPete Loved this tune since Juvenile Camp in the 70's. [IT] affirmed my belief that incarceration was not cool and MY Dad was 100% correct. God rest your soul, Dad. Things turned out decent, plus I now can kick back in my Living Room and listen to pretty much anything I like. Pete Reeves Altoona, PA
ELP was never a fave band of mine, but this cut is an unimprovable gem, absolutely perfect... and note that, as keyboard-centric as they were, it's all Lake and Palmer until 3:05, when Emerson comes in with one of the most tasteful synth solos ever put on record.
@tuxguys Agreed. This track is nothing but restrained class, unlike a lot of OTT ELP. Although ...Still you turn me on... would be a perfect tune (if not for some of the lyrics)in my opinion.

Certainly this is the song of the PLA that catch me more! I like the Spanish guitar chords, the delicious rhythmic tone, the Latin beat of Carl Palmer (!), The voice of Greg Lake, the brakes, the lyrics, the feeling of disappointment, the melody of the song itself and the instrumental tune interlude, the sounds of guitar, keyboard inventions of Keith Emerson. For me, this is the "great little jewel" of the PLA. To hear and hear.
This is a classic, a song for the ages. Did we know in 1972 that we were listening to legends; I think we did. That is why we still love it so much today!
@josetangojavier No..¿Como cree??

@carlossotoalcaraz DA GUSTO ENCONTAR GENTE CON GUSTO MUSICAL SIMILAR AL MÍO TENGO 21 AÑOS PERO COMO ME FASCINA EL ROCK PROGRESIVO, EMERSON LAKE PALMER, PINK FLOYD, KING CRIMSON, GÉNESIS, ETC ........... One of my favourites from the 70's. Music was so much better back then. This still sounds as good as it did then, if not better. Guitar playing was amazing! Thanks for posting this.
@Gehanwijesinghe, I have heard it often on classic rock radio, in New England, USA. Why only yesterday I heard it on either 96.5 the Mill or Frank FM...
one of my favorite voices....just always has been. this came out when I was 5...Greg Lake, Jim Morrison, Justin Hayward, David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Steven Tyler....voices of my past that remain so part of my life today

Thanks and it shows that generation of 70s had what the present world needed. The senenity of thoughts. I am sure you miss Don Maclean, Procal Harum, Seals & Cropts as well.
When I first heard this beautiful song as far back as 1972 as a young boy, the haunting voice and music had an immediate effect on me. How sad this sone is not heard on the air anymore. Most of us have missed this. Even some comperes in the FM channels were not aware of this song, when I requested it.
@Gehanwijesinghe I have to agree with everything you said! That's exactly the same way I hear it
"haunting voice and music had an immediate effect on me". This music does not air anymore to make way for the new generation of music I mean noise. Welcome to the world of greed! Play what sells! Who cares about what they want to hear! I can't believe this song is almost 40 years old..

@Gehanwijesinghe ya, definantly. Hearing this song on the radio is a huge rarity. I had'nt heard this song until last summer. It was something magical, so claming so tranquil, just made me feel in the moment. I remember, it was summer and I was 14, the sun was about to set. I don't know if it was a coincidence, but this song is best listened to at dawn or dusk.
@kurtieboy4 A very telling and sophisticated comment....and especially astute...It reminds us that the adult world can often benefit greatly from the observations of youth...and help those youth learn how to best express their inner reactions to art with language...or personally interpreted art. Great comment.
When I first heard this song many many years ago, it inspired me to get a guitar and learn to play it........ Unfortunately... I sucked........years of frustration got the best of me and later on, after seeing Animal House, I went all Bluto Blutarski on it.
Greg Lake: a terribly underrated guitarist and songwriter.
