  • Hey dude awesome cover best i've seen on youtube! What amp and effects do you use to get that rich awesome tone? You sound better than Alex Webster in the 80's!

  • @Gadaffied - Thanks. Well I used no amp and no effects. I plugged my bass into the line-in of the computer monitor. The bass is a Vintage v900 Active incase you want to know though.

  • please what are the tabs for the first riff!

  • great job man!. I also play bass with pick. lol It gives it a more higher cruch sound... I also use fingers as well...

    -Good job though bro...

  • Pick user :P xD

  • Good cover man.

  • hey men and the tab whats is??? what url???? plz

  • The solo is actually not that hard. Its just fast and all over the place lol

  • 666!

  • Dude its good but he doesn't finger pick it so it's not the same

  • damn dude how did you do that with a pick?

  • yeah!!!

  • pick is awesome now, but i only use pick for pop punk cause i neeed sharper sound :P

  • pick sounds ten times better then fingers

  • What was the tuning that you used for this?

  • @sgtzero1337 - E flat, Half-Step Down. Like on Tomb Of The Mutilated. (Now live I think they play in C or something).

  • @maidenslayer very good cover dude but the quali of the vid its bad but the sound is great

  • @MrGoodrock - Yeah, I used a webcam and quick capture (i'm not sure if youtube even has quick capture still, lol)

  • hammer with a pick^^ cool... how did you get that solo? i can play it with fingers but would even hit half of the notes if i tried witha pick.

  • @jfcmjfcmjfcm - Erm...This is old but It is the other way around for me. It is down to how you were taught. I taught myself so the way I play came naturally with a pick because that's what I started playing with.

  • This cover is awesome

  • I has that shirt

  • HAMMER SMASHED FACEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! carajo xD

  • fukn awesome

  • u fuckin rock!

  • Sounds great, man! Keep it up! Fuck haters who say, "You suck because you use a pick". Well, in my opinion pick is harder, which takes more skill. I love how this video sounds so passive; it's awesome. Keep up the good work, bro.

  • nice job Dude you play soooooooo good..

  • what video were you using as back tracking? I know its grinder but which live video?

  • @englundisgod - I did not use a video. I used an mp3 of the monolith tour version live. It WAS available for free on cannibal corpse's official myspace a year or two ago. I had it before that. I also linked to a video in the description which (I think) is the same gig but the audio in the video isn't from the soundboard so isn't as good.

  • y'all should check mine out and tell me what ya think =D

  • nice bro

  • Very FuCKin' NICE MaN!!!!!! =8

  • man you're almost like me I also play it on 4 strings, I also play it by pick but I am playing solo in other way. :P

  • tabs ?

  • very good dude, ill try to play like you, thanks for sharing your video

  • Sweet Dude...Does anyone know the real tuning for this song ive seen Drop D and Standard on tabs and varying players

  • It is half step down on the record. Now they probably play in like C or something but then they def played it in Half Step Down. Most CC is Eb, especially early.

  • Alex uses his fingers, not a pick.

  • We know, but some people prefer playing another way?

  • Yeah but I'm not Alex obviously. I learnt to play pick style, so I usually use a pick although I have used my fingers before. I have a video of me playing a song with fingers then the same song with a pick to show the differences (well I find there aren't any really).

  • estas enfermo flaco

  • accept odin and all th norks gods

  • Gå Oðinn!

  • yeeeaahh!!!!

  • gd stuff, man

    keep on headbangin!

  • Huh, I'm happy to see this on a four string. I could care less about the pick versus fingers argument. Do what you do, get the tone you want. It's just great seeing a four string enthusiast here. Horns to you bro, and dark blessings.

  • that's perfect:)

  • love the bass in this song u play it perfectly :)

  • there is too a god his name is METAL!!!

  • 4 idiots voted :(

  • satan likes this video

  • god likes it too

  • lololol

  • @yumamas Jesus wouldve love this song too

  • nice job man. i would rate it but i dont wanna mess up your 666 ratings. 5*

  • fender squier

  • i play guitar right now, but i really wanna get into bass right now. whats a good starter bass?

  • Tangewood Rebel 4K x

  • Squier are good , but i have played for 4 years on my squier and i borow my friends bass / Ibanez SRX 300 and it is much better. Buy some ibanez( SRX 300 or SR350) .

  • Anything I would say. I first off used a £70 (if that) Encore, Fender P riff off, lol.

  • a rickenbacker or musicman stingray

  • ibanez, anything ibanez or spector if you got the dough

  • palhetaaaaaaaaaaaaa noooooooooooooooo

  • What's yor tuning for your version of this song ???

    Because I have a 4 strings bass too ...

  • does anyone know where i can get a good tab for this ?

  • YOU ARE FREAKIN ORESOME!!!!!

  • For what record, you fucking faggot?

Theres nothing wrong with playing with a pick, you fucking imbecile.

  • No theres not, but you get a nicer tone out of your fingers.

  • I agree, although it is purely subjective of course. And it also depends on what style you're playing.

  • Agreed.

  • very good !

  • I prefer using my fingers, as does Alex from CC but hey this is a really good cover still.

  • cool, now do it with your fingers

  • The bass in this song makes me so.... *sploosh*. oops, i gotta clean my keyboard again XD

  • lmao :)

  • good pick style :)

J' aime bien le son de ta basse mec ! :)

  • i can understand why people use picks because you get much a clearer sound then finger picking and its easier for speed. but in order to be a god at bass i think you should atleast be able to play as fast with or without a pick.

  • its much much easier to play quickly with your fingers, if you do it right, look at billy sheehan, the mans a beast

  • There's nothing wrong with using a pick on bass, it just depends on what style you're playing, or what tonality you want.

  • i think a bass played with a plec can be sound more aggressiv and thight when its done right.

  • Dang i love that bass solo so great

  • always loved that little bass solo \m/

  • i actually find this song easier without a pick, but u still kick ass, man. \m/

  • nice playin man, but im a bassit who doesnt use picks, ya gotta get on wit the fingers man, cos picks are for guitarist! and invest in a 5 string thts where its at!

  • dude i mean Iron Maiden with a pick, ok(?) Megadeth with a pick... obviously, Metallica with a pick mmmm i dont think so...... but CANNIBAL CORPSE WITH A PICK??!!!! DUDE THAT ORIGINAL DEATH METAL SIN!!!

  • i dont think so, i think any bassist would agree that playing should be about ur style and what makes u happy, not about the way other people look at u, but the way u look at urself. i play guitar, so i use a pick, when i play Bass, I use a Pick, i ilke using my pick, i like the tone and the way it feels, thats just my style

  • This guy does Alex Webster proud.

  • fuck man that was brain drilling u should try a song from brian drill lol

  • do you have at least the tuning your in

  • it's in Eb standard

  • All u morons out there telling him to use his fingers need to step up and post there own clip of them playing corpse with there fingers....or piss off. U dont have clue...

  • Every successfully prominent rock and metal Bassist has used a pick. Why? To be heard and not just felt! But remember pick size is critical ie. fatter is fatter and thinner is ringier in the tone. Good job man! If you try a 5 string with active PU's, tune up the B string one step to C and see how that sounds. Peace.

  • bass with and without pick have completely different tone some prefer pick just for tone i for one dont

  • usually i have no problem with picks on bass, but c'mon... for Cannibal Corpse??

  • youu rock!

  • 5/5 (L)

  • yeahhhhhhhhhhh 5 STARS

  • good job man 5 Stars :D

  • YOU ROCK!!!!!

  • say this to Rex Brown asshole

  • i u play negro music you should use fingers to obtain that specific tone, if u play metal, use a fuckin pick!

  • you dont know shit about bass idiot, using pick should pretty much be used in punk songs, metal songs you should use your fingers cause of the speed and difficulity

  • Fingers are for negro music!

  • wtf... Negro music? there is no such thing, although i do know what you mean when you say this, it is not the in my opinion the right terminology. This song sounds really good played without a pick, and i wish it was polayed with a pick, but he didn't it's still a good cover. You need to find a new way to describe playing without a pick dude....

  • Damn Straight! Screw picks.

  • this guys right I don't know why none of you fuckin picking pricks won't listen

  • Brain Drill, Obscura and Necrophagist. Those bands have some of the most raging bassists in metal, none of them use picks.

  • at least use your fingers for the intro

  • FINGERS where are they? Come on now, you are making a disgrace of Alex Webster. Come on seriously, I hope you re post this playing with FINGERS.

    Come on seriously man.

  • he likes to play with pick and its easier, i dont get why it is a disgrace

  • your a disgrace to CC and Alex Webster I can't believe you played it with a fucking pick

  • ethanbowen666, do you even play the bass? I'm tired of all these poser kids repeating whatever the cool kid in town told them to say and think. If you were "metal", you'd walk your own way instead of trying to impress people online with slogans you never understood in the first place. Question more, follow less, grow up.

  • lol! I wonder how could you know all that stuff about me from one sentence I said? I'm the only kid in this hick ass town that likes metal, What the fuck are you talking about slogans? Impress who??? I was clearly making a statement. Do you evan know the name of the band that plays this song? Its CANNIBAL CORPSE oh wait it says it at the top of the page. Any one can play bass with a pick. Do you even know who Cannibal Corpse is?

  • i honestly think bass should be played with fingers, BUT the dude did an awesome job on the base. do you play base?

  • Yes he did do a great job but any one could do a great job with a pick, I wouldn't be so disturbed if he didn't cover a song by a legendary bassist, some one KNOWN for their plucking technique (Alex Webster). And yes I do play bass and I work my ASS off, Alex Webster is a big influence on me I guess that's another reason I thought this was lame.

  • fucking great cover

  • put down your pick!

  • why?

  • cuz!

  • I'm with you... real bass player use his fingers... Alex Webster uses his fingers....

  • Play more, theorycraft less.

  • best bass cover of this song!!! well done dude!! \m/

  • brutal sound man, keep on working!

  • Was this version of the song (not the bass for the people who like to flame) live? Doesn't sound like the normal version.

  • yes sir it is the live version. they are just as good live aren't they? haha

  • Haha, I just didn't know, because the only versions I've heard don't have the "Hammer-Smashed Face" scream in the intro.

  • awesome cover man \m/

  • good cover

    send mi tabs men

  • hey man this was a great cover. unlike everyone else, im not going to bother u and tell u to play w/ your fingers. You play w/ what your comfortable w/. anyways, great cover man, i look forward to what other vids u have

  • please, learn to use your fingers :D

  • good work with 4 strings !

  • fucking sik cover man nice job

try and use your fingers tho ; )

  • Uhh... What do you think he was doing?

  • using a pick and he was ;)

  • so to be a good bass player you have to use your fingers?

    arrogant shit

  • did i say he was bad???????

  • alex webster is the best member of the band

  • A bassist who can't use his fingers is not a bassist.

  • Well, he probably CAN, but you do not deserve to see it.

  • That statement definately makes sense...

  • Then what is he?

    Not everyone can finger pick.

  • yea anyone can if they just work on it...its not hard and it sounds better

  • It all just depends on how good you can make it sound.

I know some bassists who can get that finger sound when they use a pick, it doesn't sound exactly like finger picking, but it's close.

  • are you saying that david elefson is not a bassist????

  • Everything Megadeth is godly. Anyways, great cover man.

  • whos david elefson?

  • Whos david elefson!?!?!

  • You don't know of David Elefson?! He was the former bassist of Megadeth and appeared on most of their albums.

  • dude thats sweet bassing,

    what are you tuned to?

    drop A?

  • No, E flat.

  • really?

  • yeah. early CC didn't tune that low. some shit off of Eaten Back to Life is in standard

  • thats crazy,

    thanks man

  • np bro

  • Used to play bass for Megadeth

  • no he didnt

  • Incorrect.

  • learn to use your fingers

  • there is no different, you play pick or you play fingers, its about style and sound.

  • ive seen better, but great job.

  • fucking un real!!!!\m/

the bass solo was fucking sick nice job on an wicked song

  • hey man good job on the cover and like everyone stop calling him a pussy cuz he cant use his fingers.....hes not alex webster

  • God, this song is a giant endurance test.

  • lol yea it is

  • I have been playing bass for almost 11 years, I usely play Primus tunes and other technical songs...but for some reason I cant get this fuckin bass part down....I have been trying since last year lol what the hell man!!! DAMN YOU ALEX WEBSTER!!!!! DAMN YOU!!!!! lol

  • wow your a dick. using a pick doesnt make you any less of a bass player. im a bass player and i learned to use a pick first. its easier depending on what type of bass you start on.

  • it doesnt matter what kind of bass you start on...

    it can be easier, true.

but using a pick excessively can chip away at the strings, releasing the tension..especially if theyre nylon or steel strings.
