To Christians: i am an atheist and if god loves me so much and really wants me to accept his 'gift' and worship him then why doesn't he make it easier? Why doesn't he come to me in angel form and prove his existance so that I believe in him? If he is omnipotent then he would do this. Its like a teacher that really wants a student to learn and do good in his exams but doesn't offer any him help at all.
So what you're saying is that someone who is a murdering maniac but believes in God is still going to be saved? I don't think God would take someone like that. We are told to be Christ-like, not just believe. Believing is the first step, but then doing what Jesus would do is what we are told to do.
@rippletail The only people God saves are sinners. But to be saved is not just to believe God exists and go on living like you did. To be saved is to acknowledge that you are a sinner, completely depraved, without any way of making yourself acceptable to God. For God to save you, you must fall wholly on the grace of Christ and turn away from all your sin with Christ's power. Only then can you be saved. God will and has saved murderers, but those who continue in sin are most definitely not saved.
@rippletail Jesus is not interested in changing one's conduct. He is more interested in heart transformation. Then our conduct will effortlessly change from the inside out. The only way to truly become christ-like is recon-zing that with you and in you, there is no goodness. Then coming to Jesus and embrace his Arms of love for the sinner and the needy. keeping your eyes on the grace and goodness of Jesus and He will perform the Heart transformation.

@rippletail God loves us & has given us freedom of choice to choose from hell or heaven. Leaving our old ways behind (be it murder or hating your neighbor) and living a new life in Jesus frees us from our destruction & being sent to hell. Becoming a believer isn't going to be a walk in the park. Even the greatest members of the church can fall to satan's lies. Believing Jesus died on the cross for our sins & having a relationship w/ Jesus through the Holy Spirits saves us from our sins.

Yes, the Cross of Tau was an important symbol in Egyptian mythology, but I would say that that is irrelevant to the cross being important to Christianity. The reason the cross is important to Christians is purely because Christ died on a cross, the Roman method of execution. If the Romans borrowed the cross from the Egyptians, (which I am unsure, but I doubt) then it is purely coincidental that the cross is important in both Egyptian mythology and Christianity.

I got suspended from school on the lst day for 180 days. I was on my last chance because of my past suspensions. Then i got into Marijuan over the summer and brought some marijuan to my alternative school and got caught. i was facing expelsion. I had prayed to God and asked for Forgiveness and That he would get me through this and for one last chance. the next week i had my hearing and only got 15 days of Out of school suspension. GOD LOVES US NO MATTER WHAT WE DO AND NO MATTER WHO WE ARE.

Its been such a long time sence I have been to church and worshiped, let alone really pray.mMove to a new area, and found this chuch - not the one i was looking for, i just wanted to feel safe, and pray (12 years later) and I did. Spoke to people and they prayed for me, told them every thing and they did not judge.
Went back 2 wk later, "we missed you lats week" and it was great. The evening I was prayed for had to go to court, and I got through it - God was with me, protecting me

the passion of the christ is probably the wrong background for this video. I only say that because i've researched a lot about the creation of that movie and some non-biblical (anti-christ) scenes are in the film. While some of us don't believe in all of the teachings of the RCC, you shouldn't call it "anti-christ". The people of RCC believe in God and the Messiah just as much as you do and are trying their best to follow the Scriptures to the best of their knowledge. not only did Jesus die the most humiliating death of the time, but He took two punishments, which was not legal back then. He was whipped (the Jewish way of punishment) and crucified (the Roman way of death). It was law that no man could have both whipping and crucifixion.

It is obvious that they aren't. Christianity started around A.D. 33 and Judaism started when Israel was wondering through the wilderness under Moses. The Israelites left Egypt which of course had a religion then. There were many paan religions before Judaism, But there was always the true God and people worshiped Him from the beginning. There just wasn't a set religion until Judaism.
Jesus's problem with religion is that people had more faith in religion to save them than in God. It's when people think that they can get to heaven by following traditions of their religion. That's what Jesus hated.
Why should we gain from his reward? Because he loves us more than anything and, although our wretched sins are not acceptable in his sight, he sent his son to die for those wretched sins. Now, we have direct access to the Holy God. Hallelujah!

Sin is more than doing 'sins', it offends God most because we reject Him!Jesus' sacrifice is so loving God because he gave his life for those who rejected him. He gave Jesus while we were still IN REBELLION. That's why the gospel is so powerful. You might think to give your life for someone who loves you; your best friend or husband or child, but think about taking on execution for a person who spits in your face or refuses to acknowledge your existence! That's how deep His love is for us.

I think the orthodox doctrine of hell where 90 % of the human race goes to eternal concentration camp is obscene, not reality & cannot be part of a God worthy of worship. The Father is holy, just, and loving. His justice requires my sins be paid for, and my penalty is eternity in hell for my slavery to sin. A sinner cannot expect to spend eternity with a perfect holy God, can he?
But Jesus bought my slave's ransom, paid for it at the Cross, the Fathers justice satisfied. Now, no longer judged as a slave to sin, I am now His slave. He then rose from the dead to now and has made me His Friend. What a Great Savior, Jesus Christ Messiah. -His grateful slave.

I got suspended from school on the lst day for 180 days. I was on my last chance because of my past suspensions. Then i got into Marijuan over the summer and brought some marijuan to my alternative school and got caught. i was facing expelsion. I had prayed to God and asked for Forgiveness and That he would get me through this and for one last chance. the next week i had my hearing and only got 15 days of Out of school suspension. GOD LOVES US NO MATTER WHAT WE DO AND NO MATTER WHO WE ARE.

WOW... Its been such a long time sence I have been to church and worshiped, let alone really pray.mMove to a new area, and found this chuch - not the one i was looking for, i just wanted to feel safe, and pray (12 years later) and I did. Spoke to people and they prayed for me, told them every thing and they did not judge.
Went back 2 wk later, "we missed you lats week" and it was great. The evening I was prayed for had to go to court, and I got through it - God was with me, protecting me

the passion of the christ is probably the wrong background for this video. I only say that because i've researched a lot about the creation of that movie and some non-biblical (anti-christ) scenes are in the film. Mel gibson actually gave half the earnings of the film to the Roman Catholic church/ The pope/ Vatican (whatever) lol.. "the mother of abominations" I can link anybody interested to the information about that. Awesome message in the vid though!

While some of us don't believe in all of the teachings of the RCC, you shouldn't call it "anti-christ". The people of RCC believe in God and the Messiah just as much as you do and are trying their best to follow the Scriptures to the best of their knowledge. They are still brothers and sister in Christ.

not only did Jesus die the most humiliating death of the time, but He took two punishments, which was not legal back then. He was whipped (the Jewish way of punishment) and crucified (the Roman way of death). It was law that no man could have both whipping and crucifixion.

KJB, what Spurgeon said is very correct and biblical. It is impossible to ever sin again. BUT. Don't forget how hardly Jesus Christ warned about the narrow way(Mat 7), and that no man can enter the kingdom of heaven unless he is born again out of water and Spirit.(Joh3 :3)

well, that's where free will comes in. God wants us to be reconciled to Him...it's in His mercy that some pple who have rejected Him thus far, are still here, our Father is patient and loves all of us so much. but likei said, we have free will, to choose Him or not choose Him (in which case the decision in choosing hell). And get this, as soon as a person chooses Jesus, their sins are wiped away...as far as the east is from the west...think about what that means.

actually, the bible teaches us that God has made himself known if not by word then by His creation, btw, that is why we are all still here, Christ will not come again until the gospel has reached everyone, He doesn't want anyone to perish...not that everyone will accept this free gift of redemption. hey, i don't think you should take the comments on here as judgmental, no one here should be judging, at some point in time we will all face judgement day, EVERYONE. once saved, always saved, we may lose our way in this world, but we can not lose our salvation if we truly believed, confessed and asked Jesus into our heart. we aren't saved by good works, by being sprinkled or baptized...we are saved through our personal relationship with Jesus-it's a free gift! as far as the drunkard, that really doesn't make sense to me in this convo, but it makes me think again about a false confession of faith...and when God comes back, if their confession or "declaration" was for real, then yes, they are saved. Sin is sin, we all sin.

The Bible does not teach works salvation. Romans 3:20 says "...by the deeds of the law (works) shall no man be justified in his sight" Also, vs 24 says that we are justified freely by grace through Jesus Christ.
So, what does James mean, that faith without works is dead? Faith in Jesus without works is dead in the same way that a marriage without love is dead. If you don't give your spouse love, you are still married, but your marriage doesn't mean much.

It is obvious that they aren't. Christianity started around A.D. 33 and Judaism started when Israel was wondering through the wilderness under Moses. The Israelites left Egypt which of course had a religion then. There were many paan religions before Judaism, But there was always the true God and people worshiped Him from the beginning. There just wasn't a set religion until Judaism.

Sin is more than doing 'sins', it offends God most because we reject Him!Jesus' sacrifice is so loving God because he gave his life for those who rejected him. He gave Jesus while we were still IN REBELLION. That's why the gospel is so powerful. You might think to give your life for someone who loves you; your best friend or husband or child, but think about taking on execution for a person who spits in your face or refuses to acknowledge your existence! That's how deep His love is for us.
