  • tears zo beautiful

  • ♥♥♥ I will miss u forever Flapjack ♥♥♥

  • Beautiful

  • Whenever I hear this song I always think of rabbits :P

  • Just for the facts....Paul Simon had nothing to do with this song. Written by Mike Batt and sung by Art Garfunkel. You're welcome.

  • Such a good song:( <3

  • Die deutsche Übersetzung ist aber ab und an wirklich ordentlich daneben!!

  • i eat rabbit stew when i listen to this

  • The songs are heartfelt.

  • This song is so emotional.......for the past four years my goal has been to listen to this song without crying.....if you like songs like this and movies like Watership Down I recommend watching this movie called "Keith" . It is so good....

  • i'm grown up with this song. When I was little, my mom always putted on this song. When we were in the car, when I couldn't sleep, ... And now, i'm listening music on youtube , and then , BRIGHT EYES opens. Lots of memorys. Also played it on my public guitar exam when i was litle. Just can't get enough of this song <3

  • I like the song but it's still a trip.If I remember reading correctly (somehwere?) it was originally it was originally supposed to be a opium trip song for Water Ship Down.

  • @SeraphimWBE are you sure it's Simon and Garfunkel that sung the song and not some undercovered Angels..?

  • I'm a guy and I'm not afraid of admitting that I just love this song, I also loved Watership Down when I was a kid, it made me weep every time. Why there isn't any real children's movies anymore... This film was pure art and this song is the only one that has ever almost made me cry.

  • Its a real shame that music just is not what it used to be.

  • Who are the rabbits, are they just rabbits? Or all living beings you included.

Can grass be a rabbit too?

And hitting the play button once again to hear the old version of the poet "life sucks then you die".

  • Best Sad song ever i think, but at THE Same time... So beautifull :-/)))

  • GODDAMN IT! I JUST LOVE RABBITS!

  • r.i.p socks the best cat in the world :'(

  • play this together /watch?v=1pSyYhRYeIM&feature=related...relaxation

  • What's with all the dead rabbits? Did I miss something?

  • @Gmrbro You probably missed Watership Down (from 1978). This song is played after a certain event happens in it.

  • @kissapoikanen I did indeed miss it. Does a rabbit die at that point?

  • @Gmrbro Almost. Just almost.

  • the serious point about this song is surely the reminder of art's amazing, almost superhuman vocal - a searing tenor in perfect pitch that is also incredibly sensitive and nuanced in the verses...? forget about rabbits and bigotry. concentrate on the rare talent of mr garfunkel.

  • deadly song

  • Happy birthday Art!

  • I love rabbits!

  • this reminds me of my dear pet rabbit that died 2 weeks ago,so i put him in a stew and it was very nice

  • ich muss bei dem lied auch immer an verstorbene haustiere denken..ganz shclimm +schnief+ ;-((((

  • We used the quote 'How can a light that burned so bright suddenly burn so pale' on our dear cat Charger's grave cross, buried today.

RIP sweet cat, I'm still in tears.

  • It's only Art Garfunkel - best singing by him apart from Bridge over troubled water.

  • This song is soo sad it was played at my cuzins funeral. I wasn't born, But she ia sadly missed by evryone and is always in put thoughts.. :( R.I.P kayleigh

  • my rabbit just died in my arms, r.i.p little guy, you will be missed

  • @OrchardHeights

  • @pike399 Haha

  • @pike399 Oh no!! you poor rabbit! I love bunnies they are such angels. Some people today really have no heart at all. :'((

  • @GibbyGibbyGibb and they taste nice too.

  • I just can't listen to this song without crying my eyes out! It's so sad and beautiful all at the same time....and I think of my dear dad who passed away over 13 years ago. He had naturally sad eyes, but when he'd laugh, his eyes would light up, brightly. I miss him so much.

  • aw my poor love, my heart goes out to u xxxxx

  • @lulu40843 Thank you luvvy!

  • I don't care if it makes me cry for ages, I'm faving this!!!!

  • Written by Mike Batt of Wombles fame, a lovely song

  • I'm 14 years old and Watership Down is one of my favorite books/movies of all time! I've heard that there is a sequal to the book. Is this true?

  • @CelevonTeardust Yeah, but it was absolutely ruined. Hazel's in it, and 'he' is now a 'girl'. From what I've read. It doesn't have the same quality, it is a kiddy 'be good' show kinda thing.

  • @CelevonTeardust there is a semi-sequel to the book called "Tales From Watership Down". It has a bunch of short stories about the rabbits from the first book and lots of cool myths about El-ahrairah. Hazel isn't a girl in that one so it's definitely not the book cookiemonster is talking about.

  • @CelevonTeardust Yes, Harro123 is right, it's 'Tales from Watership Down' but it pales in comparison, has a several El-ahrairah stories.

  • I love Watership Down<3

  • best song everr<3

  • BabySaxaphone likes this. It likes this alot.

  • *tear*

    Beautiful.

  • A song about rabbits written by a Batt. :)

  • I would dedicate this song to my beautiful Malta... Rest well, Bright Eyes.

  • so peaceful...love it

  • The purity of a TRUE singing voice, especially......0:56-1:01.......wow.....

  • this is most beatifull song of all time

  • awwwwwww dead bunny

    *cry sob*

  • awwwwwww dead bunny

  • I love this song. Were using it in a play were doing in school and its such a lovely song !

  • @summerc96 good girl

  • @summerc96 good girl lisson to dis

  • No matter how bad I am feeling, this song makes me feel better about myself. Sometimes, when I reach for my knife I hear this song ringing in my head, stuck on repeat. It maks me stop and I end up laughing and crying at the same time. I love that feeling. This song gives it to me.

  • this song should grab the award

  • This is just Art Garkunkel, without Paul Simon.

This was released after they went their separate ways.

  • I always tingle when it comes to the chorus.

  • When I was watchign watership down, and this song played, it instantly made me cry, it made me think about my sister (she is a dog but we were companions and we did everything togeher and she was a dalmataian, i miss you Panda!<3333) we played this song at her funeral ( we give out pets funerals as they to, are part of the faimly)

  • When I was watching Watership Down, this song stood out for some reason... Heaven knows why, but it did... Such a peaceful calm song in such a symbolic and demented movie. Not that anything is wrong with demented, in fact, I believe whole-heartedly that all the best things in the world will be called demented. Change cannot occur unless we change the way we think first... ^_^

  • R.I.P auntie tina miss you

  • People, just learn to ignore. Enjoy the song and comment to that.

  • This is a Brilliant Brilliant song. I saw this live in Nagoya last year in Art's solo set.

  • when i was a kid in cheshire, england, my sister had a pet rabbit...it bit me. i've never liked them ever since, so i don't feel sentimental when i hear this song....i just think - rabbits are bastards.

  • this song makes me cry. It reminds me of dieing...a friend of my family died this week. My mom went to his funeral today. Very sad!

  • Hey, thanks for posting this beautiful song, and the nice touch of the translation in German.

And for the those who don't think so, I will quote Edna St. Vincent Millay:

"...let geese gabble and hiss, but heroes seek release

From dusty bondage into luminous air. "

  • this is the shit ya all know!

  • GREAT SONG FOR THE PEDOS THAT GO ON ABOUT KILLING RABBITS TINY MINDS THAT ARE NOT WORTHY TO EAT RABBIT POOP OK YOU SAD QUEER INDEVIDUALS

  • @SNOWYRABBIT1 NO. For crying out loud your name is SNOWYRABBIT. This is a great song, not meant for your ass.

  • I remember this from my childhood. I'm 6-2, 20 stone, enjoy everything from Rave to Iron Maiden. But I still love this song. To everyone who likes this song - it is beautiful and there is no shame to love it. To everyone who purports to hate this song - I pity you for losing your souls or else you are in denial and trying to appear tough. You are pathetic to point a judgemental finger at something that is to someone's taste, even if not to yours. Grow up!!!

  • @unwantedman72 - same here pal, I'm a metal/ rock fan, (love IM)but also love S&G, country....etc, i don't like rave but ...i don't knock it, if ya like a type of music, if it makes ya happy...then so what....it don't matter..people will always knock other peoples taste....always.....it aint worth a reply...keep on rockin :)

  • so much hate posted on such a calm song....

  • With all the hate and venom I just wonder what you souls are talking about can't you just take something for what it is if it's not to your liking you can just turn it off please get an education

  • 10 people have no soul and should fuck off and die.

  • it is a nice song so shut the fuck up you arseholes

  • i wish this be played for my death...it always brings tears from my eyes...especially the words "how can the light that burn so brightly.. suddenly so pale by art grafunkels melodious voice just no words to explain ,the tune simply superb ....when we loose some one very dear this song is apt...nobody knows where we come from and where we go to....can we have answer for this...no one on this earth can break that puzzle the origin and the end of ones own life....

  • It's not Simon & Garfunkel. It's Art Garfunkel singing a song written by Mike Batt. He of the Wombles fame.

  • cant stop the tears :(

  • @luckywhale i am so glad its not just me lol, when this first came out me and my friends watched it on a pirate beta tape (lol) i was the only one whose brain turned to mush and i really blubbed over it. Now i am an adult my kids and wife find it funny to buy me something to do with it every christmas, but between me, you and everyone on youtube who reads this i always take a day off work once a year get a few beers and destroy myself again i find it a healthy release and that works for me.

  • @EBOWARRIOR What a wonderful statement. It is one of the most deeply touching (Hurting places) songs I've ever heard. Reminds me of so many Family and Friends and FurFamily who've gone on before me. :(

  • Not the same thing but it was my great grandmother's funeral today and they played this song at the end. It was in a scene from watership down, the bit where fifer is following the black rabbit(rabbit of death)... That scene always brings tears to my eyes so i nearly cried when it came on.... I promised myself i wouldn't cry and i nearly did.

  • This song has stuck in my head since a young kid, as I loved the film Watership Down, I probably drove my mum and dad up the wall watching the film over and over again. bless them! love it still!

  • Hey I never had heard this one.

  • so sad........

  • If being a child in the 1970s already didn't warp you enough, here kids . . .

    DEAD AND DYING BUNNIES!

  • @epsteinsmutha1 Yummy tasing with stew

  • what's up with the german subtitles? can't you germans just learn english..

  • @SCClover84 you just showed that you are such an ignorant. this site doesn't only exists in the usa. WHAT AN IGNORANT IDIOT YOU ARE

  • @cqcontinuum I'm from holland and I speak frisian/dutch/german and english. Germans always translate anything. Even in hollywood movies on tv, you hear german. Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator: I'll be back. In Germany: Ich bin zuruck.. < the translation ain't even right. So Germans: Learn some english!!
