I think people investigated the politics of Hurt Locker too much. It wasn't meant to be speculated and reference. It was supposed to be good, suspenseful, glorious entertainment. There was no major political righteousness of the movie, just good suspense.

@kaykayputu reality is this: in Iraq and Afghanistan, any vehicle comes within 50-100 meters of US troops receive a burst of warning shots overhead. If it keep coming, another warning around the vehicle (zipper they call it). Still don't stop or move away? A burst into the engine. Still going? Shoot the driver, stop the car.

Quite often, they just ignore the warning shots and shoot the driver.

In reality, that driver wouldn't get past 50 meters away from those guys.
