  • As long as it has Aquitania in, im happy. The best looking, most successful and hard working of the old classic ships, (a close second is Olympic!) She saw service in 2 world wars, transported thousands of troops, but was scrapped! Reportedly the captain cried on the way to the breakers!

  • great video. IF OLYMPIC IS THERE WHERE IS R.M.S TITANIC!?!?

    sorry caps

  • Nice video. Your opening shot showed predominantly either the SS Independence or the SS Constitution (sister ships) but no mention of these famous American liners. They entered service just months before the SS United States.

  • @vimy787 technically, Titanic never completed a transatlantic voyage so she cannot be included.

  • Talk about a pro British video on ocean liners.

  • NO THE RMS OLYMPIC IS THE BEST

  • the normandie was truely beautiful. such a shame what happened her.

  • Anyone who thinks the Titanic should be on here is an idiot. Obviously she's famous BECAUSE she sank and at the time was the largest ship in the world. Had she gone on, other ships would've been built bigger and she'd get just about the same recognition as the Olympic. Ships that sank aren't great ships (obviously it wasn't any ships fault, but they didn't stay afloat). So, if you compare by size and the ship itself, yes Titanic would of course be on here, but as far as ships with a career, no.

  • @playoffexpert1 If Titanic was only as lucky, she would've been the successful one. Lusitania and Mauretania will be out of the ranks. Titanic's sinking put a very vital importance to ocean liners. there were more lifeboats now. so, if titanic didn't sink. Lusitania and Britannic might have lost so much lives then. So, doesn't Titanic deserve to be no.1?

  • @ianobey11 No. We're not equating what the sinking did here, there are "ifs" in this countdown. Regardless of if you were hit by an iceberg or had a successful career, if you were a great liner that had a career, then it would be on the list. There's no doubt Titanic is a great liner, it just didn't have a career, and had it not sunk it would be thought of just as any other ship of its era still around.

  • @playoffexpert1 we're not talking about career here, were talking about how it changed the world forever!

  • I love the RMS Titanic, but thanks to James Cameron it needs no promotion. The RMS Olympic sailed for 20+ years and earned the nickname "Old Reliable." She was the only Olympic class liner to have a successful career and thus deserves recognition. The SS United States lacked the stylish interiors of her counterparts, yet she was the fastest ocean liner to sail the seas (and speed is the only thing that separates the liners from these current ugly cruise ships).

  • @iluvcamaros Also, you don't use a song from the "Titanic" soundtrack if you are a Titanic hater. I chose to avoid ships that had mostly unsuccessful careers (i.e. ships that sank). The Normandie had a relatively unsuccessful career yet she was simply too beautiful and too important to leave out. She was probably the most beautiful ship to ever exist. I prefer a cosmopolitan listing so the Germans need to be represented as well.

  • SS United States is still with us for now..

  • I know that plus titanic was larger by like 3 inches.

  • @Masonman2485 The RMS Titanic looked like the RMS Olympic, except in some details like the enclosed Promenade Deck. Also, the latter had a much longer and more successful career than the former so it deservedly belongs on the list. Basically though, they looked the same.

  • Titanic forever !

  • Was the blue ensign used by ships that carried the nail ?

  • LOOk at that thick black smoke coming from the Mauretania!!!

She burned about 7000 tons of coal per voyage across the Atlantic.

She may have been the most beautiful liner in the world but she belced black coal smoke like mad and dumped tons and tons of coal-ash into the ocean on every voyage she made. Dirty!

  • good video i LOVE ships like titanic, lusitania, brittanic, the normandie, my favorite ever good video im the first comment to this video i did you a favor do me a favor and visit my channel

  • @Puffmaster80 Thanks.... made the video mostly for myself... hope you enjoyed it!
