Guys, just like you I love the so-called old hymns, they ain't old at all, their messages are still alive and do a lot of change in the listeners' and worshippers' heart. I am Brazilian and was brought up listening and singing them. They're incrusted in my heart, can't move'em away and don't want it at all. Though we used to sing the Portuguese version of them, they're the same anyway. Praise God, guys like you and many others they'll never stop being sung and carried on...

There's some conflicting info on dates and ages of William Featherston, who wrote the words to this hymn. He was young when he wrote them, like around 16, but it was at least 9 years later when he died. I wish more was known about him. I'd love to know how and why these words came about.
