You all need to learn better English and understand the fundamental economic underpinnings of building better infrastructure. The creation of jobs isnt the only thing this rail will do. Just think of this, China one of the most advanced civilizations of the time sunk all of its ships in the 1400s and went isolationist, the advancement of their technology and culture came to a grinding halt. Now do the reverse and you have increased trade and flow of people, information, goods, and prosperity.
For the sake of technical correctness, the maglev is not an appropriate comparison. Mainland China already has 6000km of operational tracks at 200km/h (max 320). THSR also operates at 200km/h (max 315), but with only 336km of tracks. Currently China is the third largest user of high speed rails after Europe and Japan, and funding for more tracks are approved which will make it the largest user in the world. I'm not a fan of the communists, but I think I need to get the facts straight.
THSR regularly goes up to 300 km/h. That's its operating speed. So it does go faster than the mainland ones. Plus your distance comparison is also unfair. Taiwan does have only 1/20th of China's track length, but land area-wise China is 268 times Taiwan's size. So you can make your argument again when China's track length reaches 90000 km.
I guess you are right. But I don't think you can make a "fair" comparison unless you know where to draw the lines. For population density, Taiwan has 636/km2 while mainland has 137. Many European countries are denser. For per capital GDP, Taiwan has $29000 while China has $8788. Narrow statistics should only satisfy factual curiosity, nothing more. If you want a fair comparison, you compare something more meaningful, like Human Development Index, which Taiwan already ranks much higher.
What does china have to do with anything?Taiwan was formed by capitalist who did nto want live in the former commie china,it seprate from china,own government etc.Very nice,I that jap tech will work well for their high speed rail.
Sorry. This is not true. The mainland china already has MANY bullet trains going from Shanghai to Hangzhou, Shanghai to Suzhou, as well as some northern cities. Please check the CRH website.
