Oh, please. So the 36 million votes for Kris from Arkansas had nothing to do with it. Don't make me laugh. If any proof were needed, it was there in all the tour shows but the Arkansas one. The Arkansas show was the only one where the reaction to Kris was anywhere near the same as that for Adam. I don't think there is much doubt who the nation's idol is. Even Danny and Allison were getting bigger reactions on the tour than Kris was.

its funny how people try and say the show is fixed. i agree somewhat but not when it comes to the winner of the finale. people who followed the whole season can agree with me on this because if the show wasn't fixed, people like jamar rogers would have made it to the top 36 and "norman gentle" wouldn't have. Norman was going to bring in more ratings so he made it, simple as that. but when it comes down to the finale and the voters, nothing is fixed, kris was just liked more and adam is different

Idol is about how the votes pan out down the stretch and who absorbs the ones voted off. The only other two factors are the late comers who watch the final 4 and how the judges manipulate the voters. Best example would be the horrific song Paula picked for Danny opposed to the iconic hits that Adam and Chris got to perform. The show is flawed.

I have loved Kris up until now, still do, but agree with Simon that this performance was "wet" (i.e. "not dry"). Great jazz singing distills a song to its best essence, rather than "jazz it up." (BTW, Natalie Cole also said something to this effect tonight on AIextra, all you 13 year olds who are ready to send me hatemail.) I think Kris could instead have done his superb guitar-strumming Kris thing on a song like "How Insensitive". From Sinatra back toward its Bossa Nova roots.
