My brother has two tiny kittens and despite feeding them twice per day with problem about 3 ounces of food each, they inhale their food the second it hits the ground. A lot of animals have the instinict to eat quick as another animal might come along and steal their dinner.

FYI oriental style bowls are not good for cats or dogs because they are narrow on the bottom and tend to tip over so easily. That's why most pet bowl you see in stores are wider at the bottom so they won't tip.
