  • How pathetic. A man frightened of being king and using Wallis as his alibi. Weakness beyond measure.

  • He was a very good looking man.

  • Oh, poor monarchy, with its refined and freezing protocol! What a shame they give me! Wallis deserves all the respect and admiration, because she have the courage to pursue her dreams! Does it matter ambitions when it comes to dreams? Love should prevail over all things, even over an Empire! Both wom and lost at once, but as is customary in the world of royalty: frivolity first! Long live the Queen Wallis! The boldest woman in the world! The woman that shook the British Monarchy! ;)

  • @aristidesvanderpool

It is typical that you should feel like this with your fiery latin temperament.

It is this temperament that has led your country to make such costly mistakes many of which could have been avoided if your compatriots had shown less ambition and a greater desire not to follow their dreams.

Of course you would not have a fiery temperament if you are an Argentinian of indigenous decent and not a leftover of the Spanish Empire.

  • I think we are merging two totally different things. My country has suffered in the worst way imaginable. Dangerous Men with real power and certain military skills took our rights and trampled to the very pain, I know because my parents were witnessed it. We only have first ladies and very few have been significant in our history. We and the British share the fact that both have several consorts by mere ornament. What makes them think that Wallis had been a character so harmful to your story?...

  • @aristidesvanderpool

I do not believe we are conflating to different things. I was merely trying to understand how you could be supportive of such a woman.

I put it down to your latin temperament but I could equally have put it down to the fact that your country and the former Mrs Simpson have a history of supporting the Nazi's.

  • Just accept my sympathy for Wallis, as I accept your apathy for she! My "Latin" temperament? Don't judge me for something that happened in my country when I was not even born! Neither judge me for being "Latino"! I'm a person with my own convictions, with my own thoughts and actions, I don't move to the sound of the crowd, you understand? Don't generalize, that is an unacceptable lack of respect! My "Latin" temperament? excuse me, if anyone here is racist and Nazist I think that's you, not me!

  • @aristidesvanderpool

My dear sir, in this country we fought the Nazi's, in yours, you invited them in to live.

As for racism, can there be any more racist act than to invade an island that does not belong to you and try to subjugate its population?

As to you not being alive then, you are alive now, you can see the speeches your president is making and has made for several years, you can see the demonstrations that some of your people are carrying out. do you condemn them?

  • @NemoFuitHic Excuse me, but we're swimming in stagnant water, and you keep accusing me of actions that I never support in my life, such as Nazism, racism and war. You keep comparing me to my country, well sir, here is the difference, I am not my country and I am no my leaders. I never support Nazism or Nazism's actions in any way. And if it refers to my first message, I spoke about royal protocol, ambitions, dreams, opposition, love and power of love, nothing more...

  • @aristidesvanderpool

I accuse you of nothing. I attempt only to show you the parallels between Mrs Simpson's views & actions and what went on in your own country after the second World War and during 1982.

I do not blame you for this, as you say, you were not born. However you are alive now and such things are happening in your country again under your current President and you do not condemned it. Does your silence betoken consent?

  • Facts: Eddie the VIIIth was decidedly fascist in outlook and temperament. His political mentor was Mussolini, who leant Ed his private train. My faith in the Church of England depends upon the knowledge that the Bishops refused this fascist a crown; and that one day modern enlightened Bishops may acknowledge the crimes against Ethiopia in 1935/41, may beg forgiveness from their Coptic Brethren, and may one day respect Rastafarians - a Christian Sect of Peace with a harmless herbal sacrament.

  • cont'd ... an American divorcee at that. Perish the thought of an American as Queen who was also a commoner. Thank goodness times have changed or Kate & Wills could never be King & Queen.

I urge you to read "That Woman", the new book on Wallis by Anne Sebba. It is up to date with all available new material including letters written by Wallis which give a fascinating insight into who she really was. Judgment is bad regardless, but judgment without concrete evidence is a form of deceit.

  • More cases of people believing the propoganda released at the time by Stanley Baldwin P.M.!! Edward met with Hitler to try to ease the situation. Many leaders of many countries did the same and were not labelled 'nazi sympathisers' . All that was done to tarnish the relationship of Edward and Wallis. There is absolutely no evidence anywhere , other than hearsay, that they were nazi sympathisers. As a child I was told by my parents that the supposed worst sin was that Wallis was a divorcee an

  • The mere fact that the Duke & Duchess of Windsor were invited at all, shows a class of HM the Queen and family. The bad blood between them could not be masked in this video, I think. The former Edward the 8th and his bride were torrid people, worthy of no noble distinction. The Duke continued to give fire to the old adage: There's no fool, like an old fool. Their legacy is simply a boil on the House of Windsor. Nothing special there, I believe. Peace. Bear.

  • Obviously it took a woman to do the mans job

  • Shoot Uncle David - no wonder he was comfortable with the Nazis the Windsors aka Saxe-Coburg-Gotha spoke German amongst themselves they were more German than English

  • They should have taken the chance to shoot that Nazi traitor while he was back in the UK.

His betrayal of the fact that the allies knew about the low countries war plan to the Nazis, his radio speeches on behalf of appeasement.. many were shot for less in the Second World war.

  • @disamjisa He wasn't a traitor, he had the best interests of Britain at heart..Unlike the Globalist traitors we have had in since WW2 who have given all British sovereignty away and are doing their best to make the British people a minority in their own country via mass immigration.

  • hmmm.. if u see clearly, u could see that the duke face looked like prince charles..

  • HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother was entitled to a bow from every man and a curtsey from every woman, excepting the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. Though not seen here, The Duchess did not curtsey to Queen Elizabeth - Windsor did bow; The Duchess did curtsey to the Queen. Clearly she was willing to honor the woman who was a child during the abdication; she was not willing to honor the QM. The Windsors had no class and no true beliefs - except what was best for themselves.

  • @BurmaBoxer The Duchess of Windsor was a US citizen and not a subject of HM The Queen, therefore she was not obliged to curtsey. So if she had curtsey'd it would only have been out of courtesy! ;-)

  • Off with her head....

  • Edward was a Nazi supporter! He shouldn't be allowed to enter England

  • The Duke and Prince Charles favour greatly!

  • @Theliturgist agreed

  • Why are women always labelled as the bad people while men are the victims? It's as if people say men are too stupid to have a mind of their own.

  • @SuzLa1 You may be interested in another video entitled "The UK's Nazi King Edward VIII, Duke of Windsor: Traitor & Enemy of Britain"

  • the royal family should be put in a museum, then we will have something we can point and laugh at as a disgrace to human history.

  • @Crazyman1212 What a ugly comment. I recomend you pcikle's marmamalade......

  • Stupid people! didnt let him become King because marrying a divorce..??? wtf, wasent it the whole point that Henry VIII parted ways with the Cahtolic Church?? to marry whome ever he wanted?? and isnt Prince Charles going to be king , Even if he married Camila Parker? ??? i dont get the Brittish..

  • @hashcr Because the Monarch is the Supreme Governor of the Church of England. Which means, that the monarch must play by the rules. No divorcee's is the rule of the Church. Violating the rules of the Church would be like the Pope swearing or robbing a bank. I think it makes perfect sense because if you want the job that is a once in a lifetime opportunity, than you play by the rules.

  • @hashcr

Technically, Henry VIII didn't seek a divorce, he sought annulments for his marriages to Catherine of Aragon and Anne of Cleves; in the case of Catherine claiming that marrying the fiancee of his dead brother was a baaaad thing and therefore there was no lawful marriage at all.

  • Wallis Simpson was 71 here - she looked rwmarkable for her age.

  • They said she could pick up a sixpence with...well..., your know.

  • What is strange is that wallis looks so younger than David. This was the first time the royals saw wallis since 1936.

  • All that bobbing up and down Old Alice is doing behind the Duke of W is making me dizzy. Dear OLD Alice. R.I.P.

  • but she was a he ...no?

  • Wallis Simpson or not, I dont think he wanted to be the King or the King that the establishment wanted him to be, he had his own version of being King and it was his way or the by way . He was the King of Ireland one day longer than the uk and dominions......The abdication was used in Ireland to get rid of the monarchy as a new constitution was drawn up after it.

  • D:)

  • Wallis Simpson was a very stylish woman.

  • @Discoboy504

Yes she was and a remarkable lady too.

  • You kow what they say; "Edward VIII gave up being Captain of the ship; to be an American divorcee's Third Mate."

  • @cidspimms

Actually, it goes: "Edward VIII used to be an Admiral of the Fleet; now he's the third mate on an American tramp"

  • @baraxor HAHAHAHAHA! That sounds very much like British humor. Clever and biting. I think he just didn't want to be saddled with the crap that a king has to do. In this video he looks like his shoes are too tight (which is kinda the same thing).

  • What a beautiful moment of family reunion and reconciliation!

  • I do not understand why he would have been treated any differently only for having abdicated....clearly in this present age scandal in the royal houses is not something that makes one gasp anymore,,,but the Duke of Windsor was a royal and a blue blood...I wonder if he received a monthly stipend to have afforded Wallis such luxuries like diamonds and so much luxe!

  • @popazz1 OH dear...was not expecting that sort of conclusion! It is a shame that he lost so much for so very little...although one can speculate that Wallis would have been of a different opinion!

  • @truediabolique69 ,

Well I don't suppose he felt he'd really lost anything by abdicating. It seemed he never really put his heart/soul into being king anyway. The government at the time thought he was a liability and I happen to believe that they secretly wanted him to abdicate so they could 'exile' him legitimately and get him out of the way! Naturally they had to be seen as encouraging him to give up Simpson, though they obviously knew he'd never do so.

  • @popazz1 I read that his father had soured on the thought of Edward ever becoming King because of his carrying on with older married women and the scandal this was bringing to the family...he fancied sordid affairs of the kind! Naturally, in the upper crust of society affairs were expected even encouraged! It was reported that King George V favored his second son who was already married and had a stable life, to become King of England and he got his wish didn't he.

  • @truediabolique69 ,

By all accounts, his father was almost tyrranical in his treatment of his sons. But then that was the sign of the times back then, even royal children had to be 'seen & not heard'.It would seem Edward couldn't wait to rebel against his dad at any given opportunity,& relished the distress & anger it caused the king! His brother, some biographers would have us believe, was almost suicidal at the prospect of becoming king.Strange, given that he took to the position very well!

  • @RichardElden You must excuse me, then. NOT to mention the hundreds of books that relate the domestic and international discourse they created with their stupidity. England on the brink of a Second World War. You're probably correct. The books are ALL lying. Old sweaty eddie was a closet nazi, PLAIN and SIMPLE!

  • @RichardElden You must excuse me, then. NOT to mention the hundreds of books that relate the domestic and international discourse they created with their stupidity. England on the brink of a Second World War. You're probably correct. The books are ALL lying. Old sweaty eddie was a closet nazi, PLAIN and SIMPLE!!!

  • Wallis looked fantastic, but then she Always did.

  • Most luckiest family in the world is the Queen's family.:)

  • The Queen needs to trot out some of these cool old hats. Can't stand all the wide-brimmed concoctions she's been sporting for the past decade.

  • Yeh. Right.

  • I am happy to see their love endured the time testing and all gossips from ppl. Funny to see a lot passed away also with their gossip and doubts.:)

  • @easysimple1011 Are you talking about Edward & Wallis? If you are, it's NOT that their love endured, but after ALL they put England through, they were NOT about to give others the satisfaction of seeing them split up.

  • @easysimple1011 Endured my backside!! They were thoroughly bored with each other by the time he died!

  • The Duke was a douche.

  • @aeronuk1,

She desperately wanted to be 'royal',whether she was an American citizen or not,so maybe she should've curtseyed.Actually I don't particularly care 1 way or another. But,here's a thought, had she been able to marry the man,& he'd kept his title as king, she would've had to have become a british citizen! But,it's all academic, aint it?!

  • @popazz1 Why should she curtsey? She was an American citizen not a British subject.

  • @aeronuk1 So the next time the US national anthem is played abroad, we can all sit down, hooray!!!!!!!!!!!

It''s a song about the British burning down The Whitehouse anyway.

  • @RichardElden Your comments are both rude and insulting and your language totally unecessary

  • @aptsarchive ,

I agree.I'm not in any way a royalist/monarchisT,but his language was simply un-necessary!

  • Simpson is so pretty , worth it. :)

  • @popazz1 I wouldn't be bothered if he had been gay, but there's no evidence to suggest he was other than speculation. Since he was the most famous man in the world at the time and was dressed his entire life by an array of subordinates, it's also pretty sensationalist and daft to suggest he could've been a hermaphrodite.

  • @counterhon ,

I agree,so it's just as well that I actually didn't speculate as to whether he was hermaphrodite, that was someone else! And,I believe it was speculated that he was bi-sexual.But,again,all of that's irrelevant, well to me it is! Speculation & conspiracy theories are the mainstay of some peoples' lives,so it would seem!

  • I think it is true that Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother did not appreciate the conduct of the Windsors, but one of the scenes that was edited out of this clip shows the Queen Mother kissing the Duke and having a very relaxed and freindly-looking conversation with both he and his wife. Having said that, when this event was over, the Duke and Duchess were not invited to go to the races with the rest of the family, but they were given a lunch party afterwards by the Kents.

  • Queen Elizabeth never had personal animosity against her uncle and his wife, so she could easily manage a brief chat with the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. The Queen Mother on the other hand, probably wished that Queen Mary's monument could have toppled forward and flattened them!

  • Interesting, if you watch the Queen Mother (who blamed the Duke of Windsor for her husband's death), you will notice that she walks past him and the Duchess without acknowledging them. Queen Elizabeth II may have chatted, but the Queen Mother is not found in that shot. Tensions, from her point of view, were still high.

  • Edward was not only a wimp but a traitor and should have been executed by HM Government for treason.

  • @attittood the charges of treason are totally unproven and somehow I doubt it.

  • @attittood ,

It would be interesting to know what you consider the DoW's 'treasonous' act was!

  • holy god he looks like prince charles

  • @Aikidolover29 ,

Well, given that the 'royal' family were in-bred,it would seem more than likely that they would all look spookily alike, lol!

  • @popazz1 lol yea considering all the royals of europe are mostly related but man still lol im a douche of an american and wouldnt say that hahahaha

  • @Aikidolover29 ,

Wow,man, don't say "I'm a douche of an American",that's like,so dismissing yourself! Come on,fella, being American is NOTHING to be douche-like about!

  • @popazz1 true since obama got elected im not as embarrassed over are govt as i once was thats why im going to germany for a semester for a cultural exchange

  • @Aikidolover29 ,

Yeah, that's better, lol.Be proud of who you are! And,Germany, lucky you! My brother and his family lived near Cologne for two years and he raved about the country. He says the German people,on the whole, are a great race of people, warm, welcoming and quietly humerous.Oh,and let's not forget, they brew a fantastic Pilsner lager, lol. The best of luck with your stay in Deutchlande!

  • @popazz1 oh im so stoked haha i just hope i dont drink myself to death muahahaaaaa but education must somehow stay at the forefront not booze and pubs

  • @Aikidolover29 ,

Lol,well, clearly I would never advocate the overindulgence of alcoholic beverages, hic, moderation in all things, lol.Yeah, right! Good luck, fella.

  • A load of German inbred wankers

  • all the royals are ugly, inbred and stupid. However Edward was a pathetic wimp as well.

  • HRH The Duke and Her Grace The Duchess of Windsor have ALWAYS been my style ICONS!!!

His Royal Highness should have never gave up the throne.

King George IV would've still became king and Queen Elizabeth II, queen. As His Royal Highness and Her Grace were presumably past child bearing age.

  • @PrinceDomo George VI died before Edward VIII.

  • Was that Princess Alice of Albany right behind the Duchess of Windsor?

  • @maybewedidntexistyet

Yes - well spotted. Game old stick, Queen Mary's sister in law, grand-daughter of Queen Victoria & sister of the Nazi Duke of Saxe Coburg. Lived to be eight hundred years old, practically. Quite fascinating. Even Cousin Valdek was reluctant to be alone with her. Truly, Pamela.

  • @GoodnessoGracious I do thank you for confirming that. You know this already, but, Princess Alice was also a great-aunt by blood of Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden through his mother and a beloved first cousin of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands. I find it most unfortunate for Prince Charles (The Nazi Duke)'s children that George V had denied the rightful titles of "HH Prince" and "HH Princess" to the male-line great-grandchildren of the British sovereign.

  • @GoodnessoGracious Of course, Prince Charles' involvement in the said regime was simply inexcusable. At any rate, if it were not for George's alteration, Princess Sibylla, the mother of Carl XVI Gustaf, would have been entitled as HH Princess Sibylla of Albany. It's also interesting that a male-line granddaughter and a male-line great-granddaughter of the British sovereign married the two consecutive heirs to the Swedish throne.

  • @GoodnessoGracious But, pray, do tell me who this Cousin Valdek is that you mentioned and why that he was reluctant to be alone with Madame la Petite-Fille de Grande-Bretagne! Could it be Princess Alice's cousin Josias of Waldeck-Pyrmont?

Would you also by chance happen to know if Princess Alice kept in touch with her first cousin Queen Victoria Eugenie of Spain and her family? I know that Princess Alice was close to her Connaught cousins, especially Princess Margaret's family in Sweden.

  • He was a royal weasel.

  • Cookie had wanted him herself if the old aunt's stories are told. yes she had all the jewelry! oh the stories according to David Cookie had chased him and then took Albert. I still think david let everyone down. however, now all the 1936 gang is gone I wonder what the diaries will say. Did you know the 3 dukes allegedly drew toothpicks? I would have loved Henry and Alice on the throne. ! what to do you think Goodnessso gracious?

  • He was forced out.

  • this was the first meeting of cookie and wallis since the windsors went into exile. much of the scandel we know about wallis was manufactured in buck house. they were treated abysmally by the royal family. i note, with interest, in a recent book the author asked princess mgt why they hated wallis, the reply....'it wasn't her we hated, it was him'. strange!!!

  • Oh I just saw another tender moment 0.39!!!

    CliveX

  • 0.28 I saw a tender moment, I think!!

    ClieX

  • OH !!! The tension is PALPABLE !!!! Bring me a bromide, and put some gin in it !!!

... and no mention at all of Queen Mary's tainted Royal lineage vis-a-vis her grandmama the Countess of Rhédey ........

And I thought the Royal Family ingeniously stole back all the jewels in the famed ladder-at-the-window robbery in the 1950's............

I live to read your information narratives, Lady Pamela ........

  • @NuovoPiero :-

    Dear Sir,

Your kind compliment is most appreciated.

Dads always said no one would ever raise the matter after Queen Marys coronation because nothing else mattered after anointment. Mummy was accidentally anointed at the 36 coronation when she stood too close and got splashed. She said it gave her super-human strength.

Mummy always took it on the chin.

    Truly,

    Lady Pamela Harcourt Blythe LVO

  • @NuovoPiero Yes, something about being only a, ahem, Serene Highness. Oh, the indignity of it all!

  • @NuovoPiero I don't think Queen Mary's morganatic lineage was such an issue to Queen Victoria as it was to German royals. QV allowed her own daughter to marry a Battenberg.

  • @clementjb Victoria's own mother was granddaughter of a Countess Erbach-Schönberg.
