  • Thanks I hate this Anti Virus

  • really thanks!!

  • wow!! thank you

  • im so FUCKING glad my computer fails at downloading anything... it fucks up with google earth, any browser except google chrome and firefox, and many programs ive wanted... but it saved my computer XD from THIS virus!

  • Thanks a lot for the information and the tutorial that you uploaded to the network and did not know how to remove it from the moment you walk from one of my favorite channels you tube ... Have a nice day

  • Thank you so much for your help!

  • So you have to empty the recycle been?

  • you don't have to recycle everything in the bin. just as long as you delete the the privacy protection files that are in the recycle bin.

  • Thank you. The fix seemed to work BUT I haven't gotten back the use of my internet that Privacy Protection knocked out. Any ideas? (It's DSL, the cables are connected and the router lights are on, the network device says it's working properly, it can't acquire my internet address).

  • There is another way, but its more complicated:

When you see it pop up hold the power button for 5 seconds.

Then when you turn it back on it should say safemode and stuff, click safemode.

All the fonts will be big and stuff but it will let you open up programs.

Go to internet and install malwarebytes.

Do a full scan or a quickscan; both should work on finding it.

It will be deleter when you click delete. Hope this helped :D

  • Thanks !!!!!! ;)

  • on my Vista it was in /users/(me)/AppData/Roaming . Also I found no registry listings for it.

  • Thanks Thanks Thanks

  • grazie 100000000000000000000

  • My program folders are empty though. It appears the programs are on my drive. Any suggestions on how to restore the program folders? Thanks again!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you. It worked quickly and efficiently.

  • Thanks to my friend I was able to watch this video.

Thanks to this video, I've finally kicked it outa my machine.

By the way, I havent renamed it nor rebooted (For the first time in this vid, I did only when I got rid of it, at the end) and it's still working for me.

  • Thank you thank you thank you! This was truly a blessing! It helped me so much! God bless you!

  • Thank you Jesus! The virus is gone. And thank you so much for posting.

  • Thank you!

  • Strike that, it looks like I don't need to delete it, everything's coming back.

  • Awesome, thanks for the help... one problem though. How do I find "virus.exe" after I've removed PP from the registry? The "open file location" tip won't work because the file name has changed, and I still can't use some functions. This is on Vista, so no, I don't have the "Documents and Settings" folder.

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you

  • Just find is in task manager and delete it really fast.. i positioned the mouse over privacy.exe and used the keyboard to go to task manager. Enter delete enter

  • THANK YOU! This worked great! ~ In Windows 7, you may find the file under - c:\users\John\AppData\Roaming\privacy - whereas "John" is your user name. The AppData directory may not come up but you can type it into the address bar at the top of Windows Explorer. Also, the .exe may not show. You'll need to go back to this directory to delete the virus.exe.

  • Just tried this on my friends computer and it worked perfectly. Wasn't complicated and was really fast. Had spent about half an hour researching prior and all I got was scam programs being recommended. Be careful of that. You don't even need a program, manual removal is best.

  • It works!

Easy solution and really heplful. Thank you very much.

  • I spent hours looking for a freeware solution and even longer trying to run these on the infected laptop, with zero success. By chance I came across your video and 5 minutes later the laptop is clean of this hideous malware.......great work my friend!!

  • there's another way: go into the propreties of privacy.exe and make it so all users can't open or read it, that way when you open your pc next it won't start and you will be able to easily delete it, dunno if it's the best way but i just did this on my bro's pc to delete this guy

  • Thanks a lot!

  • not working on windows 7, don't have the documents and settings folder and short cut to privacy.exe folder will not allow changes.

  • Hello I cant find the "Application Data" file is not there? Is there another way to get to it?

  • @tooter4u What version of Windows are you using? Just right click the privacy protection icon on your desktop and "open file location"

  • hi, i can't rename the privacy.exe any other solutions? thanks

  • Or after removing it, should i follow it with a scan for any other virus left? Right now, im running the Microsoft Security Essentials. I read somewhere that anti-virus softwares like AVG slows down the computer or the registry was messed up because i removed the privacy.exe (they say if you have removed something from the registry editor, it messes it up, so i need to use registry cleaner) Are these correct? Oh, pls help...please. Thanks again

  • @cheechay054 yeah my computer is super slow too.. its weird...any solutions?

  • I have a vista and I did try it, was able to remove it because it doesn't appear at the start when i open up my pc. However, how come my computer is very slow. My husband installed AVG and uses Microsoft Security Essentials before i followed your instructions for manual removal. Are there any parts of that virus that are left in my pc that i wasn't able to remove? Pls help. I have important documents in my pc. Thanks

  • Works like a charm, thanks!

  • Click Ctrl - F and look for privacy.exe

This works for Vista/7 as well, just right-click on the Privacy Protection on your desktop and go to "Show File Location" to get to privacy.exe :)
