  • It's a shame not everyone takes the time to enjoy the beauty all around us. If everyone took time every day to enjoy the simple, beautiful things, I believe the world would be a much nicer place.

  • In my living room we have a series of graffiti style Spocks that I purchased at a local art auction. There was an entire wall of them. I only bought five. I wish I had them all. Every morning at breakfast I look at them and smile.

  • 2:58 High definition _laundry_?? Wahhhh?

  • Mar 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

  • 2 people succeeded at failure.

  • good video. What is the name of the song? I like it.

  • isn't "squee" simply the greatest word ever?

  • Are you saying that there aren't any faeries?

But i got a whole book of pictures of them right here!

Why would anyone say such a thing?

    :-(

    ;-)

  • Ah, the infamous Scientologists of Tottenham Court Road appear in one of your photos. I used to have them trying to accost me every time I walked to lectures. I'm afraid I was foolish enough to stop and debate one of them once; which resulted in have three of them screaming in my face. They are such well balanced and adjusted people. Thank Ron for dianetics.

Nice video, made great by the really cute squirrel.

  • I would add fetching free thinkers like you to that list!

  • I accidently found this video while searching for Jesus, I also happen to be Mr Spock, what a bunch of coincidences. XX

  • love the t-shirt

  • Just getting some BTL fix.....I may start stalking you...not to worry..Widge is being stalked too...I do suck at stalking...thanks for the awesome video :)

  • Aw, thank you! Good choice on people to stalk in my humble opinion.. ;)

  • Only time will tell m'dear....

  • Great video. Just found out about your channel.

    5* and sub

    ;)

  • Im happy as long as i can choke myself whilst beating my meat....too far? Who cares?!!

    WEEWT

*takes top off whirls it over head*

  • I've been meaning to stop by here. Fine work.

  • Beautiful video!... and no god to be seen. :)

  • Indeed. ;P

  • SQUIRREL!!!!

  • I for one do not claim that atheists cannot be happy. Although, some are better actors than others. But deep down inside their soul, there is a empty hopeless existence. Ony God can fill that, not food, art, relationships, science, pleasures, money, success, status, power, possesions. That's just real talk. Why do you think so many celebrities are messed up (divorce, drug problems) because they have obtained everything the world has to offer and are still empty inside. Satan's clever and deceitful

  • empty? oh shit, did the plug fall out? *checks* shit, and I use to be full of marshmallows.

Sorry not empty, not hopeless in the least, the exact opposite in fact.

*raises eyebrow* So you're saying all celebs are atheists? Sorry their problems come from their fame.

  • "empty? oh shit, did the plug fall out? *checks* shit, and I use to be full of marshmallows."

    Hilarious.

  • PS. sorry if the truth hurts that atheists can be just as happy, and hopeful and fulfilled and lead purposeful, meaningful, lives without believing in your god, but they can and do.

  • "empty hopeless existence"

Wrong. If you take this postion you are stupid (In my opinion).

"Why do you think so many celebrities are messed up"

I can make obnoxious unsubstantiated assertions just like you. I'll say religion is the problem.

  • @BruNoLoCc Celebrities are under allot of pressure to act and look perfect. Christians divorce at the exact same rate as non-Christians. Look up the statistics. Your other assertions have no basis other than your perceptions via indoctrination. What would you believe if you were not taught what you should believe? Think for yourself =D

  • Beware the Grey Squirrels!!!!!

There is beauty, man made and natural all around us, why not just enjoy it, smile and go on with your day, no need to ask where it came from, just enjoy it because life is too short not to....

  • @AbdultheImpailler

Well, if you are going to ask where it came from, do so productively instead of accepting the words of the semi illiterate and very primitive desert people who wrote the bible.

    Use science, that is beautiful.

  • @ automaticSOM

    science is GORGEOUS...just like BTL42!!!

  • @Abdultheimpaler

Agreed, gorgeous! Couldnt have put it better myself

  • Very positive video. Well-done!

  • Love your necklace.

  • Very inspiring. Our universe is infinitely more wonderful for those of us who are unsure of the grand mystery, Christians don't know what they are missing.

  • You know I've often wondered if belief in an afterlife made this life less valuable to some people. What a tragedy that would be.

  • of course it does, cause this life sucks compared to the afterlife

  • I agree that would be a tragedy, I believe in an afterlife but I also believe that this world couldn't be more beautiful and valuable, everywhere I go I am amazed at how beautiful this world is, I have been fortunate enough to travel to many places and there is nothing more beautiful than this world :)

  • All the love in the world to ya B :)

You are one awesome female :)

  • *HUGS*

    ^.^ <--glee!

  • *looks at tags*

    o.o

Anyone who unsubbed because of this video, well, let's just say nothing of value would be lost.

  • There is a BTL shaped hole in their lives.

There is nothing wrong with you sweet BTL, not one single thing.

    SQUIRREL!

  • I always thought it was funny when the religios would come to campus and claim that "there must be more to life." They often asked where my sense of wonder was. Whereas they offer the concept that I exist to make more humans so we can all worship some sort of ethereal father figure my personal world view is, I believe, much more filled with wonder.

  • Without too much expounding: Some trillions of years ago 4 fundamental forces began running the show. Since then these forces have caused matter to aggregate into stars, planets, and eventually living forms. The same stuff that makes stars made me, and you, and everything. It's not sentient, but I am. 4 simple forces have given way to beauty, love, hate, and televangelists. Poorly stated maybe, but it fills me with a sense of wonder far greater than, "Do what I say or burn monkey."

  • We Neuron-endowed are a pretty interesting lot, I just adore consciousness. I'll take a stand and claim it's Intelligence's best side effect.

Oh, and we should all grok spock.

  • Lols, awesome as always!

    SQUEEE!!

  • hmm, yeah. It's impossible to plan ahead and do anything worthwhile unless you're a follower of the man who said:

"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple."

    and

"Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself"

In other words, 'abandon your family, your home, your plans, leave everything behind and follow me."

  • Nice one.

  • SQUEEEEE!!1

  • love the sneaky wink to us in the washing machine porthole. it's always nice to find little nuggets of random happiness in your subscription box.

also, your gingerosity only serves to endear you to me further. this will serve as a pick me up vid for when i'm at my pooter feeling blue :)

  • awesome T-shirt

  • Love the Douglas Adams quote, i wish i could write and speak half as well as that man.

  • Yeah, me too. Amazing mind. Sadly missed.. :)

  • Sad part is he was a relatively young man. His talks on evolution that i have seen on youtube make so much sense. They made the all the little gears and cogs click together in my mind. I have bought the complete hitchikers guide to the galaxy series, i just have to pull my finger out and read them.

  • i think you would really enjoy them- i know it did, very amusing.

  • I helped build a barn!

    So yeah, what's Jesus built?

  • Well he was a carpenter... I've yet to see a handmade Jeebus Piperack.

  • A jewish carpenter? LIES!

  • but there was that cathedral with a fairly shitty table and chairs set-he was a better caterer than carpenter.

    :P

  • As you were talking I was totally thinking about your food pictures! Great vid. ^_^

  • I like this video! But you can't convince them that you're happy.

The funny thing is most fundies also say that we hate God even though we don't believe he exists. I don't know if they truly believe that or if it's just an act or propaganda.

    Anyway... I'm convinced. :-)

  • Oh my fuck...the food porn file opens again....and again, I salivate uncontrollably.

What a lovely video this was. Gotta love nature, science, humanity, et al. Its so much better without God...really, it is.

Hit me up soon! I miss you!

  • One day, I'll make you pizza TA, that's a promise.. :D

    Miss you too man x

  • 2:20 kinda explains your complexion, no?

  • The too-bright settings on my camera explain that.. ;)

  • also, hun... naming a video "all things bright and beautiful" when it is almost all about you could lhave been pretencious.. except that its true...

  • That wasnt what I meant. I just meant that the things around me are bright and beautiful. The only bit with me is the intro and the short clip of the dryer.

Meep. I hope that isnt what everyone thought I meant.. :/

  • I think everyone got what you really ment...

  • well i can see where people could make the bright and beautiful link to you ;) but nah its pretty clear you were showing off the nice things you enjoy in life. But 'certain' people are always going be a bit...vapid. I'm looking at a few of your more recent comments now....hmmm :P

  • that's probably directed at me, I just noes it.

  • well i am not quite a trekkie but i'm sure it'll drive me wild :P hows it going chaos?

  • I guess I sorta am... seen every series except the last one, and seen every movie... course thats as far as I go...

well between this video and this song I've been listening to I decided to trying doing an AMV, but man, just 4 minutes of video takes forever and is a lot of work...

  • what sort of song is it? I mean for an amv you need quite a lot of pictures. Which anime? Spill Spill Spill!

  • XD no anime, beautiful things

antidote by story of the year

  • hey it's not all about her... though she is beautiful... and she does brighten up everyone's day... and that smile... ok maybe it should be all about her XD

Hmm... I think when I try to be funny I come across more as creepy <.<

  • Beautiful Douglas Adams quote at the end. I loved his works as a kid, and now I enjoy them even more.

  • As far as why this card in the cemetery...why not? Cemeteries are depressing. Someone was trying to brighten someone else's day.

  • Well, fuck 10,000 years of civilization before Christ. That part of history was full of fail(fuck Socrates)! I find the universe less beautiful when I think God just threw it together in 7 days. Which is more impressive flawless art crafted by an unerring hand or a 3-year-old drawing inside the lines of said art? If God made the universe I am pretty sure he needed crayons for his coloring book or a storage shed and we are the unintended mildew in the corner :D.

  • I'm kind of curious... what did you think of the "New Spock" in the Star Trek movie that came out?

  • I really really liked him - thought Quinto did an excellent job. Loved the whole movie actually, it was a good reimagining.

  • I really wish I could have liked that movie. While I think Quinto did a really good job with Spock, I thought the casting of Kirk was terrible.

I know the movie was all about re-imaging and character development, but the adversary in the movie (Nero) was terrible. He was cookie cutter and uninteresting.

Compare that to Star Trek 2, where you have an interesting foe (Khan), and wonderful character interaction between Bones, Kirk and Spock.

Thanks for replying. It's cool hearing your opinion!

  • That made me hungry.

  • Live long and prosper....!

    wish I was Spock...

    :(

  • I love squirrels to. Nice vid, BTL42.

  • Nicely Done!

You qualify as one of those bright & beautiful things as well!!!

  • That squirrel was flinching faster than lightning! Hope he wasn't eating coffee beans or something.

  • I have about 4 minutes of him jumping all over the place.. very lively lil critter that one!

  • We have possums down here in Aus, the little buggers don't come out till night and they eat all the fruit and veggies we have growing if we aren't careful. They also make the most horrible, disturbing sounds, gave me nightmares when I was little.

But they ARE cute if you ignore the red eyes and the EVILNESS.

  • It's the ears, isn't it?

  • Partly, yes.. and the challenge ;)

  • i just realized that the implant bit could be misinterpreted :D i was talking about the thing above the eye

  • *grin* That's what I thought you meant! And I'm not sure I could carry off the 7 of 9 look to be honest.. I would if I could tho! :D

  • Go for it! you'd drive all the Trekies nuts!

... or maybe not... they'd never regain their sanity and we need to keep room in the asylums

  • Live long and prosper.

Really like your food porn, some great images in this video.

    Cheers

  • haha, love the t-shirt! ..and the rest of the video :)

if you would wear a seven of nine "implant" in one of your videos i would be a very happy atheist :P

  • awesome vid :D

  • a very enlightening video BTL 5 \m/'s

  • Food is my pr0n as well. I love looking at peoples pictures. I have many strange ones myself.

  • I have way too much food pr0n. If it ever become illegal to have such images, I've done for! ;)

  • This made me smile. :-) 5* and favorited.

    Thank you, BTL.

P.S. As you can probably guess, I *loved* the quotation! Possibly the best happy humanist quote ever by the best author ever. That made my evening! Thanks again. :-)

  • You are more than welcome dentarthurdent54 - it gives me great pleasure to think I've made your evening. I think you're awesome :D

  • ... and *that* just made my day. :-D You're fantastic, BTL. Have a great day. :-)

P.S. While I do love your rational, profound, and thought-provoking videos as well as the ones in which you call out bigots and liars, I have to say that your quirky / happy humanist videos like this are my favorite. I enjoy thinking, but I also enjoy smiling. :-)

  • Those flowers belonged to my lost love who left me because I gambled away our last 10 bucks playing poker at the cemetary.

  • Ah, I see.. it all makes sense now! *grin*

  • Nice shirt!

  • Please take off that shirt, lest Cassie get any ideas. ;-)

  • I don't care what Cassie does; but I'm still with you in principle. :)

Great vid. That's all. Spock, out.

  • *grin* All ladies love Spock, tis too true..

  • excellent video love. favorited.

and props on the osteoclast research!

    from, a medical student

  • *grin* Yeah, since I study long dead bones I decided it would be nice to be a blood donor for this osteoclast/osteoblast project at the local university hospital..

They literally wait just outside for the blood and then scurry away with it. Barely got a chance to take that picture.. ;D

  • yeah atheistic japan seens incapable of creating anything. and after trusting all hope for hapiness in the promises of an unresponsive god, i've seen the jealous resentment of our hedonistic pleasures

  • Very nice and inspiring video. As a side note I wish to point out your shirt is awesome. That is all lol

  • Thanks bighaus! I'm very fond of it too..

  • ... and of course you're bright and beautiful too!

  • darn I was waiting to see if no one would say that but you did.

  • Nice vid, as the others mentioned the food porn is fantabulous!

As an aside, the shirt is brill, I lol'd !

Perfectly fitting for you. (pun intended) :D

  • Thanks Fritz - I love that shirt too. I should wear it more really, in case a Spock type passes me in the street but doesnt realise that's he'd be my ideal man.. ;)

  • Not very likely, BTL, you know we atheist just sit around moping and wishing that we believed in god. Geeze.

5 stars for the laundry clip, that was my favorite.

  • Yeah, I know.. *sadface* ;)

Also, that's one of my favourite clips I've taken recently too. I had no idea how I was going to shoehorn it into a video, but this seemed like the best opportunity I was ever going to get.. ;)

  • I am not an atheist, but I really enjoy your spirit! :)

  • Thank you neptunesgrl, that's a lovely comment to make :D

  • I only comment the truth :) And I don't agree with whatever any religious person has told you that without religion you can not be happy. Happiness is a choice you make regardless of our beliefs. Everybody makes life so interesting for me, believers, non believers! I love diversity!!!!

  • NIce. I'd give you a 6th* for the food pron if I could....

  • Thank you Poppa, you always say the nicest things! :D

  • Food porn is lovely :)

    the phallic art... interesting LOL

    and I love squirrels :)

  • I loved the phallic art too - I think they were Greek or Roman votive figures. They made me giggle like a school girl the other weekend.. :D

  • I'm an atheist and unhappy, but that's because I suffer from depression, and the two things are completely separate. If I didn't suffer from it then I would be as happy as anyone ese. In fact, I talked about this in a video that I'll post as a response.

  • Indeed, they are.. :)

Although I think my video was more to do with refuting the idea that all atheists are 'lacking' something, rather than saying all atheists are happy. Cause that would be a crazy claim.. :)

  • I was in a crap mood today, then I saw your video. 5 star, *click Favorite, *click and Subscribe *click!

  • Indeed, people of all types can experience that sense of lacking, religious preference doesn't have anything to do with it.

  • I'm doing a happy atheist dance right now... Take that religion!

  • *joins in the happy atheist dance* :D

  • *I'm dancing Barefoot*

    Twirls. :)

  • Question: does believing in a 2000-year-old zombie make a rollercoaster more fun?

  • Jewish zombies make everything more fun

  • Only if it's Hannukah Zombie.

  • Survey says.. no! :D

  • Have you been watching Stewart Lee..?

  • Stewart Lee the comedian? Nope.. not recently.. :)

  • Just this afternoon I listened to him talking about the hymn All Things Bright And Beautiful and was most amused. I'll send you a link.

  • Just checked it out, that made me laugh a lot.. *grin*

  • I went to see him last Friday in Leicester Square - great gig. He's my comedy hero of the moment.

  • here comments a doom n' gloomer with a sunny disposition.. i know we're all fucked but i cant help bein happy & finding things fascinating.. it would be an insult to the millions in poverty and terrible situations to waste our privileged existence by feelin sorry for ourselves for no good reason. it aint just god botherers who turn their noses up at : )

frowns get u taken seriously, so maybe i should work on the ole grrrr face. chortle!

love the douglas adams quote at the end there too..

  • "i know we're all fucked but i cant help bein happy & finding things fascinating"

I know just what you mean - very well put Mr ooojamaflipper!

And <3 Douglas Adams. Still sad he's not about..

  • This was GREAT, but I must admit my favorite part was your nod to technology. :)

Without my washing machine I would be a very unhappy person. (Indoor plumbing is good, too!)

Final quote topped it off. Once again, you make me aspire to try better here on YT!

  • Since my washing machine broke (again) this morning, I know exactly how you feel ;)

    And thank you :D

  • I can change him wspol! He just has to meet me and he'll forget all about those pesky Vulcan mating rituals..

  • from every seven years to every seven minutes eh?

  • I'm not an atheist but I am a non unicornist. I don't believe in unicorns. Yet I find I am still happy in life. I bake nice pies that cheer me up.

  • You can still bake cakes without believeing in unicorns?! Wha?! ;)

  • Good lord, did you have any blood LEFT?

People go to great lengths to keep squirrels out of their bird feeders-- I'd much rather watch the squirrels, myself.

  • A little bit. Then I got cookies. Not a bad trade off.. ;)

  • Cookies for blood-- Why didn't vampires think of that trade?

  • I was trying to formulate a reply to this video, when i realized theirs only one that suits

    Squee!

  • Squee! *ahem* :D

  • Wonderful video.

  • Thank ye! :D

  • ahhh sexy playing cards, good food, and ripped up money.

    You've just made my day

  • That in turn has made mine.. reciprocal happiness ftw! :D

  • Great video!!! Glad you shared some of your happy moments with us.

  • I've been wanting to for a while, this seemed like a good excuse to do so :D

  • great vid i dont get the whole if your an atheist you must be so miserable thing like when i was a fundy my life was so much better the fact is christian people are always talking about tribulation god needs to help them get through they seem more troubled about the world around them maybe is because they are waiting for there sky fairy to fix all there problems. by the way i can be your spock ill even wear the ears lol.

  • You'll even wear the ears eh, I'll keep it in mind.. ;)

  • see what guys will do for some attention from you lol

  • umm... anything in the world?

  • What?!

This from people who can't wait to die?!

The same ones who refuse to think about what they are doing to their own progeny, with the countless stupid things they do?!

    *pfft* Enough about losers....

    Food pr0n!!!!!!

    mmm, almost as lovely as.......

    *ahem*

    Oh look, a squirrel.

  • Hee! Indeedy, a squirrel! ;)

  • Great video.

Isn't that one of those American squirrels that everyone wants to kill?

  • Yeah, everyone hates grey squirrels.. they out competed the red ones and are thus generally unpopular.. but still cute!

  • i remember visiting a red squirrel santuary-now they were cute.

  • I don't know.... couldn't you hear him plotting to systematically eliminate all those darker furred squirrels? "Grey squirrels are the one true squirrel! Our chosen people will one day inherit all temperate northernly climates!!"

I think you should have stomped on that racist bugger.

  • But.. but.. he was playing! Rolling over and jumping and everything.

I cant stomp on tiny cute things. I am genetically incapable! ;)

  • Yes, he was very cute. I'll tell you the cutest thing ever.

Last time I was camping in Alberta, I was on a walk with my sisters dog when we came across the home of a family of prairie dogs. The dig a network of tunnels in the middle of a field with a hole every ten feet or so. Have you ever seen that arcade game 'wack-a-mole'? Well, imagine a puppy running this way and that as little prairie dogs bob up and down all over the place.

  • Now that I would like to see.. sounds awesome! :D *squee*

  • Oh man, you left out Sudoku and C++ and calculus.

erm ... plus chicks and beer and tunes of course (- or wine, women and song - or sex, drugs and rock and roll).
