i just bought a new betta fish his names red and he has a decent 3 gallon tank. i really want to add a snail to his tank but i do not know anyyyything on them. soo could somebody tell me what they eat and how to care for them my betta tank is kept at temperatures from 72 to 82 degrees fahrenheit is that going to be a problem for the snail? somene please tell me :]

Careful with what you put in your betta tank. I had 4 ghost shrimp in a tank with my betta. Came home today and 3 out of 4 were dead from betta attacks. He was also harassing the last on alive.

Betta fish should live alone in their aquarium...they may attack any other creatures around them. Really, get that snail away from the betta, doesn't matter how friendly to one-another they might have been so long. And betta fish only need about 2 meals a day...2 small meals, about one little flake each time...and they can handle 5 days in a row with no food at all...

Actually, Apple Snails (also called Mystery Snails), do have genders. They need another snail to procreate, unlike most snail species.

You might want to not feed her for a couple days and then give her some tiny peices of steamed (and cooled) peas, no shell. She looks really bloated and will feel better that way. Just some advice, not trying to preach at all. Good Luck.

She's bloated. Bettas that are eggy don't have stomachs THAT big. You should only feed a few pellets daily, a bettas stomach is the size of it's eye.

Here's a little warning for mystery snail buyers. I put a mystery snail in my Bettas 10g and he bit it's antennae, probably thinking it was a bloodworm or something Lol. Well anyways, he scraped some of the scales off his head on the edge of the snails shell. This heals really quick, in a few days, but it causes a bit of discomfort /=>

@dragonsblazer Stick a lettuce leaf in your tank before bed.  When you get up it will be covered with snails. Take out the leaf and get rid of the snails. Do this every night and maybe that will help.

OMG get your fish checked really soon. My fish had the same bloated belly and I thought it was a simple swim bladder disorder, but I was wrong. It was Dropsy, on of the most common and the most fatal disease of Betta Fish. it is extremely difficult to cure so please, for your fish, look into it. I had a fish with the same disease and it was horrible watching his slow demise. I weep for anyone who also went through this.

That tanks is perfect ! The fish looks like it has dropsy =( ,it has a bubble under its mouth and its not pregnant . I had a fish just like that and i thought it was pregnant but it had dropsy . Its scales popped out and it eventually died in 5 days =[
