  • who is like the jewish nation? nobody if u are jewish take the pribligies bec. when masiah comesu want to be part of that

  • why is there a german quarter in jerusalem? why honour a country who caused 33% of your people to be killed?

  • The German quarter technically isn't a quarter. It's an area that was dubbed so in the mid-1100s, WAY before the holocaust even happened. Israel (and Jerusalem in particular) was passed from hand to hand, and was ruled by many different people, and visited by even more. Each ruler and visiting ruler wanted to stake a claim on different parts, and a German Pilgrim in that era was upset that no part had the German title.

So they obliged and made him happy.

It's not the Germany we think of.

    :o)

  • there are a german quarters all around israel (jerusalem, haifa etc) they are'nt named after germany but after jerman jews who came to israel in the beggining of the 20th century.

and at haifa there is a place called "moshava germanit" (German settlement)

in the 19th century germany wanted to be a colonial empire just as britain so they tried to colonize the land of israel but the dominant ottoman empire ruined their plans.

  • I'd like to have a recording of the song you used to accompany to the images. I teach tefillah and music to teens - I think they would love it.

How can I get a copy?

    Thanks!

  • It's the Nochi Krohn Band available in any judaica store, especially in New York.

  • that was Gorgeous (except the part where it said kever rochel that always creeps me out i wonder what thats about) anyways amazing vid u did an awsome job

  • Aw, shucks! Thanks a blunch! ...no, I don't know where the word blunch came from, it just...came.

ANYWHO...Kever Rochel creeps you out? That's interesting. We'll have to discuss that and help you get over the creepiness of one of our Matriarchs.

    :o)

  • lmao no it creeps me out when someone says it in english there like the tomb of rachel im like dnt say it tht way (shudders)

  • lol. Ok, I get that. The word "tomb" is kinda' creepy sounding....

    :o)

  • Gorgeous pictures! I love the song. I never heard of Nochi Krohn before; he is wonderful.

My only complaint is seeing the flag so often in this video, because I'm not such a fan of the medina. I don't daven hallel on Yom Haatzamut or the tefillah for the state that's in some siddurim before Shabbos mussaf... but this is all a different discussion.

I especially loved the pics of sunsets, the fish, and the Vishnitz yeshiva :) Shkoyach, good Shabbos and then chag sameach!

  • Nochi Krohn is from the Five Towns (...I think). He and my cousin went to Yeshiva together, and my cousin joined the band (he does some vocals and guitar).

And, you know, after I saw the video on here, the flag bothered me also! I don't daven Hallel on Yom Haatzmeut either - I understand the reason that people want to, but I personally don't; also, I don't think I've ever seen the tefilla for the state before Shabbos mussaf. I guess I'll have to take a look!

    Thank you & Chag Sameach!

    :o)
