This game is so much easier with the autofire on. I used my virtua stick with it turned on and got to the end. It takes the fun out of the game though.

How you can "capture some of the fishes and use them on your side"?

Mini-boss fish have a "command orb" (I think that's the technical term) that takes damage separately from the rest of the fish. Doing enough damage detaches it, and if you grab the orb it converts to your side. It's why he's so careful with his shots around 1:00

And speaking for those of us already with RSI, we'd rather play our games without the pain, thank you very much. Pressing a button really fast isn't the skill that these games are about anyway. These games are about shooting things and not getting shot down. Most of these games should have auto-fire built in to begin with.

Trying to press a button so fast that you froth at the mouth isn't fun for most people.

Well... the Extra Version of Darius Gaiden, appart from the changed stuff, has autofire. Sadly it only got out in Japan :C

These games are supposed to be tests of physical stamina as well as skill.

Just holding the button down and sweeping up and down takes no skill at all.

Whereas - pressing rapidly and doing the same takes it out of you physically. So much so, that you'd rather pick your shots and save your energy. No autofire encourages skilful play and deters against people who sit at the far end of the screen moving up and down with fire pressed down.

It's a side scrolling shooter, not Dance Dance revolution. That said, Mashing the button rapidly, even for short bursts, aggravates my RSI pretty badly.

I also think the arcade version of this game has dip switches for controlling rapid fire. I'm looking to get this game for my arcade, but perhaps I can load it up in mame to check the game's settings there.
