The Tasmanian aboriginals were a different type altogether (negrito). There were 6000 of them when that island was colonised. There are no pure aboriginals left but there's 16,000 people with aboriginals blood. Efforts were made to save them but they had been cut of from society forever and didn't have any resistance to common diseases that are created by people living in dense populations.

I never said Aussies don't work. I've been several places in the country, and thought well of most of the people I met (better than Americans, certainly); I think you've misconstrued my point.
The history of colonialism in Oz may vary from that of other areas, but it can't be denied that Aboriginals have had their lives essentially stolen due to European encroachment over the past few centuries. That may not have been by individual intent, but it's been the overall pattern.

The Tasmanian aboriginals were a different type altogether (negrito). There were 6000 of them when that island was colonised. There are no pure aboriginals left but there's 16,000 people with aboriginals blood. Efforts were made to save them but they had been cut of from society forever and didn't have any resistance to common diseases that are created by people living in dense populations.

The total destruction and extermination of all Aboriginal Australians and their descendents should be a top priority for the Australian government. The fact that they haven't done it yet displays the weakness and lack of progression of Australia. Hence why Australia cannot be taken seriously on the world scale. @nupthatisit Im not Australian but I have lived there. I have researched the history & I am appalled at what has been allowed to happen. I keep up to date with your news....I do believe that a large indigenous vote is going to the Greens party.They have an indigenous person running for the senate. I also believe there is a good chance they will hold power within the senate.I believe this will be a good outcome for the indigenous people as the Greens have said they support self determination.

My research tells me that this is where change will come from within Australia. The people have has enough of the major party's & there slick PR consultants in the background. And not just in Australia. If the Greens rise to power the indigenous will have their treaty & independence.I predict the Greens will be a major party in 20 years or less in Australia.

@AlienFirefox And if you continue on the argument that Aboriginal people don't want help, you should read up on the story of Northland Secondary College (where I taught in 2008) who successfully fought Kennett of closure of the school on equal opportunity grounds as it was then the largest provider of education to Aboriginal students in Victoria. Campaign lead by 2 Aboriginal teenagers. And they won - Kennett was forced to reopen the school in 1995. Sounds like kids who want to help themselves

We have institutionalised poverty across the board in this country and across all races, but there is a greater percentages of Indigenous Australians on the wrong side of the poverty line than any other race or culture. I have several Aboriginal friends, some working as university lecturers, Koori educators, artists, dental nurses, lawyers, advocates....all you know are other racist bogans
