@elvisworldwide Lennon was a philantropist and a political activist who felt his fame gave him a responsibility to make this world a better place, when an entertainer sticks his neck out like that he's willing risk his popularity. Elvis never made social comments because he wanted to be everything to everybody, and that's why he had to be 'nobody'. The only tacit political statement he made was his uncritical appraisal of President Nixon at the height of the Vietnam crisis.
@pearlsfortheswines - Elvis was arguably a greater philanthropist than Lennon. Elvis gave for the sake of giving and expected nothing in return. As to celebrity used to advance political purposes - it depends on which side one is on in terms of achieving the desired results. To say Lennon strived to 'make this world a better place' is a completely subjective point of view. How and what will make it better? Doing exactly what John Lennon prescribed? Nonsense.
@elvisworldwide Lennon created public awareness of socio-political problems, his analyses was his greatest achievement, not his attempts to solve these problems. Elvis' esoteric approach to social issues and leadership made him more of an advocate for the Freudian theories of Edward Bernay on controlling the masses through diversion and entertainment.
@pearlsfortheswines - As Elvis himself once said when asked for his opinion on Scientology: "Too much brain and not enough heart." The best way to solve problems is to eliminate circumlocution from the discussion.
To your original point re spiritual/material paradox. Bovine scatology. The excellent conversation we're having is conveyed on a billion-dollar site.
I didn't know about SRF until years after I first heard Elvis on the radio during the '50s - 1973, to be exact. And I didn't learn about Elvis being connected with Daya Mata and SRF until perhaps 25 years later - as I mentioned in one of my videos. It seemed so improbable that at first I couldn't believe it; everyone sure did a good job of keeping it quiet.
I'm grateful to you for creating this interesting video.
Another winner. You continue to provide the most insightful and compelling Elvis information. This presentation personifies the teachings of Yogananda and the SRF in that it conveys a very peaceful and insightful message without forcing any kind of agenda. You have separated yourself from most of the other Elvis tribute video producers. Fantastic job!

The spiritual populist and materialist, talk about paradox
pearlsfortheswines 3 months ago
@pearlsfortheswines - It took material goods and dollars to build a shrine for spiritualists. Is that paradoxical?

@elvisworldwide Depends what you did to get that money.

@pearlsfortheswines - Good point. So - would you say The Beatles whored themselves?

It would have been interesting to see Elvis's life manifest with a more spiritual manager than the colonel.
It's all perfect - maybe Elvis saw the how greed affects a man and made an effort to compensate for it.
Life is so elegant and mysterious.
Some things are only to be known by God.
God Speed Daya Ma and Elvis and all of you.
