@Nsixtyfourlink that was 8 months ago when I commented. Back then I still had stock exhaust, leanburn ignition and a leaky intake gasket. With all of those upgraded only thing left is a carb with good throttle bushings that don't leak. I have a manual np435 tranny, very low gears, so no bands to adjust. I have actually gotten my time down to 14 flat during the summer. Plus my engine is in bad need of a rebuild.
@arkansastrash320 my slant in my 82 d150 has its best acceleration on the hwy. the best 0-60 i got was 23.2 sec. lol. in fourth gear if im at at least 40 i can get it up to 70 no sweat. Mine has crap for low end power.
If you don't have low end power with a 225, your transmission is either broken or you need to adjust your bands. My valiant, sat in a field for 10 years, did worse 0-60 times until I adjusted the bands.
Haha. Barely had enough power to spin them (no offense). The 225 Slant 6's are good motors, but they ain't crap for power unless you put some serious money into them.
I slightly disagree with what your saying no offense. But back when i frist got my 67dodge truck it had 225 slant6 in it with a 3 speed manual trans. That truck weights 3920LBS empty.Well that 6 would burn rubber in my truck hauled some heavy loads i promise you i never wanted for power maybe it was partly the 3 speed manual trans i am sure that helped. Also the older slants made in the 60s had more HP than the ones made in the 70s i know that for a fact!!Even with an auto trans can burn rubber!!
I will agree with you. The horsepower went down over the years do to exhaust emission regulations. But you have seen my Grandad's truck 1985 Dodge Ram with the 225 and it will not burn rubber lol.
Hi i didn't know that was you buddy.I bet with your granddads truck the transmission oil needs changing new filter maybe adjust the bands .I would have it smoking tires before the day is over ha ha.I love that truck i am sick of v8s slants i love how they run .Thanks.
yea, all these guys are just wasting their time trying to do anything except what a slant 6 is built for, I dont understand why they dont fix up a 383 or a 440 to show off with, then they would have a real motor!! MOPAR RULES!!!!
@tobilloo you'd have to be really stupid to think that, just because a slant 6 has higher rpm doesnt mean that it is faster than a 383. it has about a 4th of the power that a stock 383 has, and if you dont know that then you dont really know about mopar or engines. plus if a v8 has more power then how is it slower?
belive it or not my 72 225 does more burn outs then my dads 340 4 speed duster lol everytake off trying or not she smokes em up leaning tower of power
that car is beautiful, and those slant 6 motors are practically bulletproof, as is any inline 6 motor! its nice to actually see someone that has one though, cuz most people swap a v8 in which is awesome, but still the tower of power is under rated and a diamond in the rough. great video!
You can kill them, just takes having the previous owner never change the oil and run it low for a long time. Change the oil every 3-5K and plugs at least once every 12K and they will last a long time. As far as 100K plug changes, the Toyota Camry uses a plug that does only get changed that often.
You can say the same about the ford Vulcan 3.0 V6, and it produces three times the horsepower. And its better on gas. Its all about the block, and what its made of. Im a strong believer in iron motors.
Those are pretty big words! I would post a video before saying something like that. A super six and flowmaster are hardly preformance, and it's spelt PATHETIC.
got to love the slant! i've got a 69 dart with slant in it. i'm rebuilding it now. and no im not putting a dang v8 in it like everyone else!

225 Slant six, the most dependable engine ever built. You can't kill them. just change the oil and plugs at least once every 100,000 miles or so.

Are you kidding? really you can change plugas every 100,00 miles? ive herad its undestructible, but not so far...

Doesn't hurt the trans at all. Now the rearend is a different story. He didn't run it long enough to hurt anything.
