While Rice played with 2 HOF QBs, he never played in a vertical offense that would pad his stats. Also, as great as Carter is, are you honestly saying he was the better WR? (Also don't forget Rice had the best hands and was probably the best route-runner of all time as well, which is why even at 39/40, he was playing at a Pro Bowl level (on the Raiders with Gannon at QB, no less)
I couldn't more vehemently disagree with you that rice had the best hands. While I do agree that rice is the better receiver, carter's hands were phenomenal. I've never seen any clips of rice catching balls one handed while leaning out of bounds, something carter did many times. Just an example. Rice was better in probably every other way, but hands? Give Randy his due. Cris had the consistent amazing sideline tip-toe catches almost all the time. While Moss didn't get those as often, he still gets them (don't forget the catches in double+triple coverages).
Moss-Carter-Reed....That '98 receiving corps was just INSANE. Every drive down the field I was SURPRISED if we didn't score a TD because with a corp like that and Robert Smith running the ball we were explosive.

jim mcmahon (pathetic), warren moon (great), brad johnson
(mediocre at best), cunningham (where carter benefited from
moss, i'll grant ya), jeff george (wildly inconsistent) and daunte
(pretty damn good). don't know how rice would've fared under
those circumstances. i'm not dissing rice; he was incredible.
i just think that, pound for pound, carter was better.

yes, that's what i'm saying. rice did not have the best hands. carter did. no one disputes that. rice was an incredible route
runner, but so was carter. rice played in an offense built to take
advantage of his greatest asset: breakaway speed (rathman and craig helped bring in the defenses-that helped a lot).

@chris28379 Tim Brown a 1,000 yards in 9 straight seasons and caught passes from 22 different QB's. I think Brown and Carter would have put up the same if not better numbers than Rice had they been fortunate enough to play for Montana and Young throughout their primes.

While Rice played with 2 HOF QBs, he never played in a vertical offense that would pad his stats. Also, as great as Carter is, are you honestly saying he was the better WR? (Also don't forget Rice had the best hands and was probably the best route-runner of all time as well, which is why even at 39/40, he was playing at a Pro Bowl level (on the Raiders with Gannon at QB, no less)

I couldn't more vehemently disagree with you that rice had the best hands. While I do agree that rice is the better receiver, carter's hands were phenomenal. I've never seen any clips of rice catching balls one handed while leaning out of bounds, something carter did many times. Just an example. Rice was better in probably every other way, but hands? Not even close.

Give Randy his due. Cris had the consistent amazing sideline tip-toe catches almost all the time. While Moss didn't get those as often, he still gets them (don't forget the catches in double+triple coverages).

Moss-Carter-Reed....That '98 receiving corps was just INSANE. Every drive down the field I was SURPRISED if we didn't score a TD because with a corp like that and Robert Smith running the ball we were explosive.
Now, unless AD run a 70 yarder or something, I piss myself when we manage to score one touchdown lol. Funny how things change.
Carter will be a HOF'er eventually, only guy ahead of him in most categories is Rice.

Hands down Cris Carter has the best hands in my eyes anyways cuz i grow up watching him and the reason i said that because how slow he was and he would make amazing catches with defense all over him..but jerry is a better overall WR because he can run faster and jump higher..both are smart but i rather have Cris Carters hands because that was truly his only dangerous weapon...but both should watch out cause Randy Moss is still pretty good but he loss like 10 TDs this year cuz bradys out
