"A brief introduction"? I think you ment an insignificant super tiny small image. This is not an introduction nor is it brief, you could just as well have made a photo of them.
i used to own leatherman surge, but i bought the new charge tti, and it does the tasks just like the surge, and it has less weight and titanium handles and S30V blade
Im thinking about getting the surge because like the charge and other leatherman multitools you can access the knife without having to open the pliers. I carry my sog for the power, a leatherman micra for the eyeglasses screwdriver - tweezers - and scissors, and a kershaw ken onion scallion pocket knife for the fast opening.
The surge should combine what I love about all my EDC pocket tools into one tool so I don't have as much to lug around.

Leatherman tools are bullshit. All are made with very low quality manufacturing and control. I have some LM multitools, I compared to my victorinox multitools (swiss tool and swisstool spirit), Victor has very tidy design and accurate, which I believe was highly controlled manufacturing. OK, LM has good design, however human error and lack of control during assembly of the product may be the cause of very poor quality of final product on the market. Sorry to say that, but it is seriously true!
I've been saying that for a long time. I will never own another LM, The quality of them were only ever so-so at best. And now that you can buy any leatherman at any k-mart or walmart just say's to me the quality is even less.
I mean I wouldn't wear K-mart shoes or use walmart toos. So why any one depends on a leatherman is beyond me. Just because they pump out billions of them every year doesn't mean they are good.
I would take a Powerlock or a Swisstool over any LM ever made.
Not really. The powerlock is good but doesn't have tools on the outside plus its a little larger. I don't own the Swisstool, but it seems like it would be stronger and more durable than Leathermans. However, its blade isn't as big as the surge, charge, and wave. I think a regular swiss army knife made by Victorinox is best beecause they're cheaper, more affordable, and have more inovative tools instead of a bunch of screwdrivers.
surge is more useful but more weighs quite a bit more than a tti...
if you're actually going to use a multi-tool as that, the surge is the better buy and this guy is right, they are easier to use the tools on the surge and they are more robust.
Charge is great as light duty only, it's scissors are a pain in the ass compared to the surge and i fish a lot so need to use those all the time.
tti's look cooler, and was a gift, i bought the surge after.
The weight on the surge is a bitch though. I have to take the surge out of the sheath whenever I undue my belt or it'll pull the belt right through the loops.
I priced around; $89.00 on line new $79.00 gander mountain sport $59.00 wal-mart/dickson city/pa
I bought one today-it's really awsome-make sure you check the tool to be sure you get the saw blade/file-there was a tool with a missing saw blade- also checked a lowes-they were discontinued-people were stealing them is what I was told-it's an awsome tool.
bass pro is an awsome place to buy them in canada but the problem is there hard to find in canada i think theres like 2 now but the really nice one is in vaughan
I read a couple of reviews about the surge, and they all seem to say that it somehow rattles. I am really curious about that. Could you make a more detailed video about that particular model ?
this video is crap.

actually the metal used on swisstools/victorinox is a softer metal, so dulling will happen much quicker than LM. Thus more sharpening and such
03BigBear 2 years ago
@03BigBear Yes, that is true but I find the steel that Victorinox uses is very easy to sharpen.

I tend to agree, though I've never owned a Charge. My Surge is remarkable, however; best multi-tool (so far) that I've ever bought.

I think it could be the lanyard ring thats loose. I seemed to have that problem at first, but if you shift it about it's fine.
