nice tutorial, Im having problems when adding the first light, it doesnt let me check "cast chadows" or change the parameters!! also when I render my back ground doesnt show!! please help! thanks.
hehe....I think that the image that ur putting into the skylight should be the same as the background but a lil bit blurish ( with a lil help of photoshop ,combustion or wtvr ) so the ilumination map would be more realistic...am I wrong? and if u wanna get a better result use render elements and then compositte it in combustion photoshop or wtvr u use...thx for the tutorials I'm sure its gonna be really helpfull for some pple...Cheers!
Excellent tutorial! But when you create an animation how do you apply the shadows? Mine renders with shadows but when i create an animation the shadows go?
Never heard of that happening. One way to trace the problem is to set up your scene exactly as shown in the video, then create your animation. Just make sure that you're not changing any shadow/mapping settings while Auto-Key is on. That could also be a cause.

Hi,
You are correct. Although, this was the first video tutorial I ever created, and was recorded over 3 years ago. There are many inaccuracies. xD
Thx,

man, how can i get that type of realistic shadows without using skylight ? (with another type of light - and not getting that crisp shadow )
vyperboy2004 3 years ago
You can not create shadows on background footage without a Skylight.

How do you get the Aero effect on 3ds max?
Cause when i launch 3ds max it automatically changes to Basic :(
MouthofSaurons 4 years ago
As far as I know, it will only change to basic if it needs more memory than is available. You may need to upgrade your PC to get Aero in Max.

Appologies: When I say "Reduce Rays per sample to 50", this is a mistake, it should be 5. Trust me, it makes a difference ;).
