Dear All: 1st) The un-cleanliness of the dog in Islam was imposed due to the health issues that dogs could imposed on the society many years ago when vaccines was not known to man, there is actually an Islamic rule if a dog has a "job" i.e. sheep herding, it is not considered unclean (probably since that dog was living in a more supervised environment) so the entire dog being unclean concept is misunderstood by all.
So if a muslim person in iran wants to use their dog for security, protection, hunting (although I don't know how dire the need is to hunt in iran), companionship or whatever....they can't? There was an article in my local newspaper. A guy in China found out about a truck transporting a lot of dogs for the food market. He called friends who called friends. They blocked the truck, rescued the dogs, took them to a (now overcrowded) animal shelter. It said as Chinese become more affluent, they have been getting dogs as pets. They get emotionally attached to dogs, and to dogs in general, and more upset about the use of dog meat.

Dogs are mentioned about 4 time in the Quran. If anybody is interested here are the Verses about Dogs:Ch 18 vs 18, Ch18 vs 22, Ch5 vs 4, Ch7 vs 176. As you can see dogs were talked about very positively in the Quran. Never did the Quran ever say they are Evil, Dirty, or Forbidden in Islam. Criticize Iran for the dog ban but not the Quran for a ban that doesnt even exist!

Dear All: 1st) The un-cleanliness of the dog in Islam was imposed due to the health issues that dogs could imposed on the society many years ago when vaccines was not known to man, there is actually an Islamic rule if a dog has a "job" i.e. sheep herding, it is not considered unclean (probably since that dog was living in a more supervised environment) so the entire dog being unclean concept is misunderstood by all.

There was an article in my local newspaper. A guy in China found out about a truck transporting a lot of dogs for the food market. He called friends who called friends. They blocked the truck, rescued the dogs, took them to a (now overcrowded) animal shelter. It said as Chinese become more affluent, they have been getting dogs as pets. They get emotionally attached to dogs, and to dogs in general, and more upset about the use of dog meat.

Dogs are mentioned about 4 time in the Quran. If anybody is interested here are the Verses about Dogs:Ch 18 vs 18, Ch18 vs 22, Ch5 vs 4, Ch7 vs 176. As you can see dogs were talked about very positively in the Quran. Never did the Quran ever say they are Evil, Dirty, or Forbidden in Islam. Criticize Iran for the dog ban but not the Quran for a ban that doesnt even exist!

Interesting that this would happen in Iran. Zoroastrian scriptures speak very highly of dogs. I wonder if this is perhaps something that the "Ayat-ullahs" are aware of as well. May Iran awake from a long sleep.
