remote wipe? ummm... doesn't that require the phone to be connected to the Internet? anyhu, I strongly agree, in the business world, exchange is a must have!
I recently moved from Gmail to Office365 ... and there is no doubt: Exchange is really superior for a business use. I can use my own domain and work perfectly with Outlook in a one-place management. No config, it works like magic. But I keep my gmail adress for personnal use, where Google is still the best.
If your business is set up to run with certain software then you should probably use the software built for it. If I made a whole company and structured its software with Google's it would probably work flawless providing you where using other Google software. If a used outlook to manage Gmail it probably would go the same way.
This is so overloaded with inaccuracies, and BS assumptions, I hardly know where to begin. For one thing, it is assumed that people have have permissions to make changes to ms-exchange can not be given the same permissions in gmail. WTF? And you can so manage resources with google calendar. This video is complete propaganda.

This video is complete propaganda.
Despite the rampant bandwagon support of Gmail on the web, having been in the IT industry for a few years I can testify that Exchange is far and away the superior product. Gmail simply doesn't have the features Microsoft has; Microsoft better addresses business' needs.
While Gmail has always been great for the relatively simple uses I have of my personal email when compared to Hotmail, there is so much more you need to do with your email in business than your personal email.
@TonyLechner You IT support types are clueless. You are the primary target of Microsoft FUD and you're lapping it all up and asking for more. I suggest you read the Halloween Documents and find out what Microsoft really thinks about you.
i often use exchange for my nokia n82 to manage google mail.because gmail is very safe and fast. i find a new smartphone on this video that my favourite phone is magic

Gota prove yourself times 10 and get there mate....Is what ethnic minorities been trying to do for donkey years. But This is what i wanna get into IT Support with minimal programming lol whether i get into a senior role is another question. no harm in trying.....
Hehe.... Just got this forwarded by a friend at Google. They use it in their marketing to Exchange customers looking to upgrade or change. Basically nothing is true and it's quite easy to show. Great way to validate Google services.
Wow - these scenarios MS comes up with are pathetic examples only relevant to old fashioned corporations like themselves. I hope the dinosaur CEO's who need to contact help desk IT techs to wipe a lost phone or LOOK INTO DOUBLE-BOOKED CONF ROOMS (LMAO) are soon going to retire!
This is Radio Jerevan. Q:Is it true that the Soviet wristwatches are about the same quality as those from Switzerland? A:Even more, Soviet watches are much faster!
OK it is not the Gmail where we believe you can't plan schedule for resources it is Calendar. Well yes we should better compare Exchange to Google Apps Premier Edition. Hmm well, it is not really true that you can't plan the resources. Nevertheless you may encounter a difficulties without reading the manual.
The first point in the video isn't about GMail - it's about Google Calendar. Thus, irrelevant. As for the second point, labels are WAY WAY WAY better than folders! The main point here appears to be that Gmail is missing features that ... have nothing to do with email! The admin rights junk is something I'm sure Google can implement very quickly.
1:11 - I hate folders - why can't outlook have labels - much more flexible! If my company allowed me to forward everything to gmail, I'd be much more productive!
There has been some confusion in the comments on Google having some of the features discussed. They do have them and the video reflects that, but states that they are limited.
-Remote wipe has to be done by a full administrator, not the end users
-Delegate access is possible, but requires full permissions that most companies wouldnt do
-Conference rooms can be booked, but not managed (approve/decline, override, etc)
Hope that helps with some of the confusion - Brandon - Microsoft
I think MS needs to review the accuracy of their video. Companies may want to use Outlook with gmail and they state there is no corp directory, no ability to schedule conf rooms, etc. This is all false. Just another time when MS tells half truths.
Is stupid, google have all teir app in the cloud this sicronis all doyo have en gmail and oters, and the mos important detaill ALL THIS APP ARE 100% FREE!!!
I think my favorite part was when they said they couldn't set up Blackberry phones. Why would you buy Blackberries when you have Google Apps, knowing they wouldn't work? This video blows things way out of proportion.
This is so ridiculous. All this problems are caused by using Microsoft Outlook. I bet Microsoft TRIED to make it incompatible with GMail, to make you use their software.
Labels ARE folders with extra functionality which you don't have to use. "He is forced to use labels instead of choosing how he wants to organize his inbox." doesn't make any sense. Labels MEAN choosing how you want to organize your inbox. So ask someone you trust what (s)he thinks about this instead of believing Microsoft.
I LOL'd at the T-Mobile G1 Android phone by Google for "Dave the Executive Admin" and this video being hosted on Google YouTube.
Additionally, there's so much wrong information in this video, anyone who's ever used GMail in an Apps for Your Domain account can see right through this marketing crap.
Wow... I am pretty sure I commented before on this vid... either I'm going crazy or someone at M$ didn't like my comment. Oh well. Thanks M$ for reminding me why I despise you so.
DEBUNK 2 of 2: - You can access your corporate directory in Gmail and Google Calendar. Google [google apps for your domain ldap sync] - You can allow your admin to remote wipe your mobile device. Google [Google Apps adds remote wipe] - You don't have to download anything to use Google Apps on the web (which I find loads faster than Outlook)
I don't know what Google Apps offers as far as setting up a new user. But judging from all the misleading bullets in this video, I'd be very suspect.
DEBUNK 1 of 2: This video is riddled with errors & misleading bullets. - Gmail and Google Calendar has account delegation -- Google ["Delegate access to your Gmail or calendar"] - You can manage meeting rooms in Google Calendar. Google ["find and reserve a conference room" google calendar] - Gmail labels do everything folders can and more. They also sync to Outlook as folders (w/ hierarchy). Google [Gmail folders Outlook] -- my fav Gmail labels lab: Google [new in labs hide read labels]
The problem here is that if you want it in google, google developtment it for you, but if you want it in M$, M$ first stole your life plus your money and then you have to wait weeks and weeks until your application can be ready.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I don't quite understand the criticism from a number of these comments. The film is marketed for companies that have multiple offices rather than for home use. You can't expect a company with hundreds or even thousands of employees to communicate each other through Gmail. You guys just do not understand the importance of being organized, efficient, and secure when it comes to a large company exchanging personal business information with one another.
I'm amazed how seriously people take it, "Oh! but its free" obviously the biggest job they have ever had is at the nearest starbucks or at best at a company with all their 10 employees sitting in a cabin, but in real world with companies having multiple offices and where every second matters, this integration in a important, and till google doesn't work for me
Oh, no, look at 4:17 - a Google user has to download all this bunch of software (freely)... but Microsoft users, hell yeah - they just have to buy the Windows OS, the Office pack (for about $500 just to start up), the daily updates and patches and so on. So what do you chose?
Its funny that obviously the people who bash MS here for making a great product showing that they very likely never worked in a professional organized work environment. If you don't need it don't use it. Outlook is a very good product, I really like to work with it in business and private.
Trying to use gmail through Outlook is like trying to eat soup through a straw... It dosen't make any sense for someone to cripple their experience in that way.
This all seems so old and backward. Who chooses to use Outlook at home? How long does the average person wait for Outlook to start? How often does IT support have to deal with Outlook?...
gmail assumes the users are fairly smart and like their security, however if you constantly need pampering, can't pick your own noes, and like having and executive admin looking through your own email...microsoft is waiting for u.
"Here, he's unable to sort messages the way he'd like to, and he's forced to use labels instead of choosing how he wants to organize his inbox."
I'm in Outlook and I want to organize my inbox with labels...oh wait, I can't because Outlook forces me to use folders. This guy should rethink his logic.
I know of at least one guy who is *hating* to intern at a company this summer -- just because they happen to use Microsoft Outlook. In his previous summer, he had got used to Google Apps at another company!
Thank you for this vid M$ you've restored my faith in your suckiness! I mean seriously... You do realize you just put up your videos attacking google on a google service correct? Idiots.
This presumes we want to use the crapware that is Microsoft Outlook 2010. Blackberry and Google are currently working on Push email. Labels are much better than folders, thats why Outlook 2010 highlights smart searches as oppose to folders.
Finally, where are Office webapps? I still haven't seen them.
"unable to sort messages the way he was in Outlook. He is forced to use labels instead of choosing how he wants to organize his inbox ". Another example why Microsoft is history, and will never succeed on the internet. Labels > folders. Anytime.

Utter rubbish.

Microsoft is a company of businessmen and lawyers. Google is a company of scientists and engineers.

"unable to sort messages the way he was in Outlook. He is forced to use labels instead of choosing how he wants to organize his inbox ". Another example why Microsoft is history, and will never succeed on the internet. Labels > folders. Anytime.

@Sterfgeval Exactly. I fail to see how folders are somehow better than labels, as these morons want us to believe.
