  • where are the f-holes? if its made of metal and it's sealed.. then it means no soundpost right? how the hell does that violin resonate?

  • What kind of metal did you use?

  • @CapricornKids -- the maker sent this too us to try out...but you could ask him about the metal.

  • Is that an original Stradivarius violin!!!!??? :O

How did that music store got one original? :O

    Great! :)

  • Wild. Makes me think of a harmonica in some strange way. So interesting.

  • what metal?

  • Comment removed

  • how they made for make a violin of metal??, how is inside??, i mean, it has wood inside, or how?

  • @pandamonio78 -- wood bouts and back plate.

  • I like your video. Bravo!!!

  • @RobertoFasciano -- thanks!!!

  • The sound is amazing! It has a lot of weight to the sound, which gives it it's own beauty. And great violinst as well X3

  • @RainbowOkami -- thanks so much!!!

  • Sounds better than carbon fiber, doesn't it?

  • @violinmaffei -- hi, thanks for subscribing :)

  • How heavy is that violin in comparison to a normal wooden one?

Very well played, as per, by the way. ^^

  • @24DJF -- not heavy...about the same as a regular violin, i think.

  • wouldn't the acoustics and volume be effected since there are no f holes?

  • @TheMrjoedaddy -- definately...however, there are lateral sound holes. you can't see it in the video but there is space between the top and the sides which act like sound holes.

  • sounds like drama to me.like meant for drama stuff, maybe theatre works or opera?lols.

    jus my 2 cents.

but the player is good to an untrained ear, like me.corret if im wrong,lols...

  • @RonLarhz -- well, i'm the player so i'm in total agreement...i think you have a great ear, lol :)

  • @eboyinc

    whichpart?the dramatic sounding part or?.....hahas.opps.

  • I Know I can hear it on the video and all, but, what does it really sound like? Like, does it sound metal? if that makes any sense? Do you think you would choose this over traditional wood? :)

  • did you make it?

  • @Lolbaggers -- no, this violin was sent to us to try out by the maker, scott hunter (youtube ~ 11ccom).

  • epic..

  • @navrenscafidi -- hey thanks!

  • Sounds better than the carbon one. A little bit nasal, but i like the color better.

  • I came across this video because one of my favorite writers, John Bunyan, apparently made his own violin out of iron... So I googled violins made out of metal. It sure sounds cool!

  • @lookupsoldier -- wow, Bunyan was definately ahead of his time! that's cool...thanks!

  • so it's like a bluegrass guitar or a resonator, sweet

  • @moogpunk -- yeah, kind of like that...its a very cool instrument.

  • thats is sooooo cool!

  • @FuzzBucket1000 -- thanks...its an amazing violin!

  • How does "Master of Puppets" sound like on this metal violin ? :O

  • Dude i freaking applaud you. No luthier wants to try anything new. That is the only way perfect tone can be achieved. That violin sounded amazing.

  • @cobraman115 -- thanks...the maker was nice enough to let us try it out. we agre with you 100 percent...you never know what you'll get until you try :)

  • wow

  • WHERE CAN I BUY ONE?!?!?!?!

  • it is surprisingly sensitive and responsive for metal... I didn't think it would produce a sound like that, but it did 0_o <-- dumbfounded

  • cool!! where does the sound come out?? because it does not have the "f" holes....=o

  • @Moonsmagicx -- there are spacers, about 1/4 of an inch thick, between areas of top and the sides. the gap this creates acts as a sound hole.

  • now that's craftsmenship! AMAZING!

  • that's one amazing looking violin!

  • @iluvbbgirl -- thanks...it is amazing. i'll be adding a sound sample this week of another amazing violin--made of carbon fiber. its the second model of an instrument that my brother and i sound sampled here on youtube a few months back. we really appreciate the violinmakers who send us violins to try out :)

  • beautiful sound :)

  • @moongazer00 -- thanks!!!

  • you can really hear kthat metal zzing to it> Anyway why metal???

  • @MsCellobass -- metal violins have been made for years. basses too. and guitars. clarinets. just an alternative material--an alternative sound. fun and experiemental. the history of musical instruments is the story of experimentation :)

  • @eboyinc I thought this has been recent>. I have seen aluminum cellos-craaaaazy indeed.

  • @eboyinc yeah but i think the wood sounds better=P

  • How in the frigging world did you end up with the job of playing unique violins? I. WANT. YOUR. LIFE.

  • @ChickenVendetta -- my brother and i began this channel three years ago when we were asked to help catalog the instruments in an awsome violin collection that had been amassed by a professional violinist who had passed away. over the past few years, some violinmakers have asked us to try out their violins---so we did. we play our own violins on our personal youtube channel...

    --- musicasa2ndlanguage --

which is where we post our school recitals, concerts, performances, etc.

  • i bet this is heavy..cool!

  • @jenmuzika -- totally cool :)

  • @vjmacias -- the description says that its metal and wood.

  • That is a beautiful instrument, and so well played. Thanks!!

  • @Newhomerambler -- hey, thanks for your comment...the maker of this violin really has a great concept .

  • what's the piece called? its amazingly well played! your awsome! :D

  • @lovlyanime -- hey thanks!!! i can't believe i forgot to mention the name of the piece, lol...its Nigun from the Baal Shem Suite by Ernest Bloch. one of my personal favs :)

  • Are there f-holes?

  • @Beastmast3r5254 -- no, there aren't, but there are spacers between the top and the side bouts which create air release spaces which i believe act like f-holes.

  • @eboyinc ah, very cool

  • wow...amazing

  • @TheMhz10 -- hey thanks...

  • Interesting sound... Not nearly as enjoyable as a wooden or glass one.. But still interesting.

  • is it possible i get to try it im in singapore........

  • just WOW! I didn't expect it to sound that interesting! Maybe it's 90% your great playing? ;)

  • @assa123assa123 -- hey thanks...its a really interesting violin.

  • that is interesting. Can't say that I enjoy the sound quite as much as wood, but it is beautiful, sort of like a resonator guitar

  • @FieldMarshalB -- yep, exactly. cool instrument.

  • I was wondering where you can purchase such an instrument. I checked out the website but it didn't have much info, just links to video samples.

Thanks in advance for your time.

  • @rotlpig -- the maker sent this to me to try out...you should contract mr. hunter directly, i guess...

  • it's a pretty cool instrument and it sounds wonderfull!!! but i wonder if you can call it a stradivarius?

  • @lameduse2 -- hi, thanks for commenting. the maker used a stradivarius copy violin as the basis of this instrument...and its made in the manner of a strad. like the millions of wooden "stradivarius" violins that are made in the manner of the few genuine strads, the term "stradivarius" is commonly used in referring to the modern violin that is made "after" the original.

  • @eboyink,your very good,BETTER than me.and I am a very expirienced player,and I am 13,and I plan to become a fiddlest with my best friend,but anyway,your awesome,I hope to c more

  • @Goober69XD -- hey thanks...definately more to come...

  • woah that is awesome!!! i want one haha. a violin made out of glass would be cool as well :)

  • @JaLjubljuVlad -- this is a very cool violin. the maker was nice enough to send it to me to try out. i've heard of a glass violin made by a company in japan. i'd love to try it.

  • wow!!! Great!!! like this.

  • @thasyact41 -- hey thanks! its a cool instrument...

  • woa a metal violin! that's so cool! but... will it stand up to roadwear and can I put a pickup on it?

  • @Wandturner89 -- totally cool. i don't play electric violin, so i don't know much about pickups. try contacting the maker.

  • nice sound but personally it shines too much lol... probably if there were a metal strad that had brushed metal on it, i'd totally take it

  • @computeruser28 -- not a bad idea.

  • he play violin so good but the matter is that he couldn't play his violin on a concert cuz' the shines mekes they run jajajaja

  • Jojojo

  • it doesn't have F holes??

  • @bellet65 -- the designer came up with a really innovative solution to the normal f-hole....you can't see it, but there is a gap under the top plate, just about where the f-holes would be...they're on the side...

  • @eboyinc --- wow, cool.

  • Is is heavy?

  • I'm just obsessed with this violin! Ima check it out on that website. How did it feel playin it? Other than it feels great cuz... That doesn't explain a whole lot... -.-

  • Oh one more thing (I love posting comments on your videos) what's the name of this piece???

  • O.o whoa I thought metal would be horrible but it's actually the best I've heard so far. :D it was awesomeeee!

  • hey thanks...its a really neat violin. we were really grateful to the maker who sent it to us so we could give it a try. glad you got a chance to see the vid.

  • this violin has great resonance :)

    I like it

  • its a totally cool violin c:

  • Woah! Metal?

You'd think the sound would be different, and well, it is, but not as much as I was expecting...

I got to play my instructor's violin once, but seeing all the one's you've all gotten to play... it must be so much fun!!

  • how comes it that there is no f hole?

  • probably electric or the metal might be thing orrrr theres a hole in a different place??

  • the maker designed it with air release under the stop plate rather than f-holes...

  • Wow, that's a first. How did it feel, compared to a wooden one?

  • its a pretty awsome violin...has a kind of jazzy sound and feels great to play.

  • Now that's different!

  • hi, totally different. very interesting violin for sure!

  • cool and unusual, you are right haha.

do you mind posting paganini's caprice 1 but slowly so i can learn it :) i have been working on it for a few days now and it is pretty difficult. :D help me :(

  • Wow! Thats a really strange violin!

  • Auugh! Gave me chills. I could close my eyes and listen to this all day. Beautiful Violin.~

  • hey thanks so much!!!

  • woah ... i never saw a metal violin

    it sounds great

i've seen electric violins, purple violins, green violins, a violin the size of a bedroom door...and never a metal one..

  • wow I'd really like to play this shiny piece of artcraft!

  • Amazing violin! It must be amazing to play on...though I'd imagine a tad heavier. How does it feel to play?

  • totally amazing and feels great to play. it may be a tad heavier, but not so much that it was really noticeable while playing it. a neat violin!
