  • Very well! Fortuner was perfect, now is perfect and will be perfect! =)

  • Who pays him I wonder?

  • @DeeFromSA I am not paid and have never been paid for my journalistic reportage by any motor manufacturer. If you look deeper into my vehicles reviews, this will become obvious. This vehicle is really impressive, and just because I said so, doesn't automatically mean someone paid me to say it. A

  • look all the comments of the host its brilliant fantastic hahaha

  • fortuner 3.0 3.2 engine here in japan top of the line is a 3.5 engine 4 a city family car

  • did he ever try Ford Everest ?

  • @wyunaboy I will be testing one this year... 2012.

  • @wyunaboy I don't know why Ford Names its car After Nepal's places.. Everest, Mustang..

  • this has the same chassis as the toyota hilux. a nissan bumped into the back of me once. mine suffered a dent, and his car had its airbags out.

  • what do u think about the 4-gear automatic transmission in the fortuner???

  • Would you say that the Fortuner is more capable off-road than the Hilux or are they the same? Putting comfort and cargo space aside, just taking into consideration how they perform.

  • best!!!!!!!!!!! fortuner!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this guy is my hero

  • Expeditions in Patagonia...

Well Patagonia is a big region, about 2000kms long form north to south...

I know a fried who has retalions with Land Rover and he has a 4x4 tour company. I shoul seach for " miloutdoor " and my website is glaciar.com

good luck & hope to see you arround !

  • FORD EVEREST WINS.......This thing's got a small engine for it's size and riding it feels like riding a horse due to its poor suspension!

  • @ebonydiospyrosferrea You do know that if you post the same massage more than once, as you did, YouTube considers it spam and removes it. I have put it back. Andrew

  • @4xforum thanks. But I think fortuner's design wins. But if you look at the technical specs everest wins

  • I have a 2006 fortuner made in Argentina. Here we call it Sw4.

I comes only with a 3.0 lits diesell engine, all with clima control.

I use it in Patagonia in extreme conditions of snow and gravel, and is a realy great vehicle,, very good off road capabilities.

Interior could have a better finish and better materials buy i would buy it again!

  • @navistars Where can I find info on expeditions to Patagonia?

  • @4xforum what would you choose between ford everest or toyota fortuner?

  • Fortuner with Cummins i6 6.7 or Duramax 6.6 V8 anyone? :D

  • What tire model is?

  • i am wondering about the air condetioning in the fortuner and about the calatch i have heard that they have problems. i own a toyota hilux and fj 40 and i am planning to get a fortuner to be my daily ride but i am between 3 disions 1-fj crouser 2-toyota prado 3-fortuner.

p.s. i live in saudi arabia its a little bet hot here.

  • @bonaji2010 The Fortuner is a locally made vehicle here in South Africa, and as far as I know, no issues with the air-con. Yours will be a Japanese or Asian built vehicle, so could be different.

  • Very good review, looking at picking one up for myself in TH, again good work much appreciated.

  • i <3 FORTUNER

  • Many tks ! Very informative.

  • I drive '00 Hilux, and I think it's better than this in terms of durability because the front and rear bumpers are steel, whereas the fortuner is made mostly of plastic

  • this might seem like a random question but as most 4x4 nowadays have independent front suspension and always have anti rollbars can you take the anti rollbars off to achieve more wheel articulation the onroad performance would be worse but the offroad would be better i was just wondering if it was possible to do so without causing suspension problems.

  • I own one and is satisfied. I would say it's a medium size special suv.. with balanced compromises between comfort , style and looks, luxury, and ofcourse the price. So don't compare it with other expensive trucks not in its category... Toyota still have the high end suv Prado and the larger luxury suv Land Cruiser. If you really want a real suv from Toyota, try Prado and Land Cruiser - these are larger, more powerful, luxurious, and more expensive than the Fort..

  • @zaitano luxury > u gotta b kidding me ! its just a toyota !

  • its not a real suv,its a custmoized hilux for those who cannot afford a real SUV ! da headroom's too short to b considered as SUV ! da pilar is very pickup,as the result, visibility is poor

  • fortuner is a good car.

  • @caronliner24

    its an SUV actually!

  • review da ford everest n u'll b more impressed !

  • @KPKonliner Everest is just a ford ranger with hard top.nothing more.the interior sux.the only thing the everest is good for is that the 3rd row is roomier than the fortuner.

  • What a GREAT review!

I was thinking about getting one,now I'm sure I will. But where I am I can only get the 2.5 TRD Sportivo.

I just sold my 2007 Hilux with 55KMs. it still run like new. I wonder if the Diesel engines are as reliable as the petrol engines.

  • This is a nice vehicle in terms of looks but i am concerned about how cramped the inside seems having passed and looked into one the other day

  • In Thailand, the first model of Fortuner were plagued from too small brake disc, back seat air-con. sucking air from behind and not long you will see black dirt in your cabin (including my sister's). To credit to Toyota, these happen only some first batches which they had quickly corrected them.

The minor changed Fortuner therefore comes with 17 inch and larger brake disc to get better stability and braking, new designed rear air-con, VSC, etc. This Fortuner are then better than before.

  • fortuner is a tough SUV,but i own a toyota hilux that beat the crap out of the fortuner 3.0 d-4d, off-road or city driving..i'll upload my videos soon..

  • its not comfortable,my cousin n friends also say dat

  • ford everest n mitsubishi Pajero Sport is way way way better !! fortuner is a lemon !

  • @KPKonliner

You can't compare a Ford to a Toyota.Completely unfair to Ford, cause Toyotas are so much better. Had 2004 Explorer that I sold for less than 1/2 the price of a new one after only 20 months. And sold a Hilux after 2 years and got 75% of my money out of it. THe Hilux went EVERYWHERE.Didn't matter what I threw at it, it took it like a champ.

  • @disndat11 dont b so sure,i've tried both n da everest is much more comfy

  • @KPKonliner

Comfy? Of course, that's what American cars sell themselves on. I got a Chevy Avalanche now. It rides like a Boat!

THe problem i have with Toyotas is that they have NOOOOO character. It's so hard to fall in love with them. Every time I've sold a Toyota, it was like changing a shirt, no emotional attachment. But American cars, although they're crap, grow on you.

  • @disndat11 everest is designed in Thailand -_-

  • @KPKonliner

Umm... is that supposed to make it better?

  • @disndat11 fortuner is just a hilux wagon with 3rd row so they can consider it as SUV,da roof is too short for a SUV.Its a crappy crap, its not even a real SUv !

  • @KPKonliner fortuner is a true suv.in the vid the fortuner is cruizing in a dessert.can everest do that?everest is not a true suv.cuz its just a ford ranger wagon.the body of everest is cheappy too.and the dash looks like a cheap car.fortuner is better equipped.n more lux.

  • a landrover disco 3 or 4 a rangie the 010 one a new defender would all beat it offroad

  • I have driven them all off-road. Disco 1... maybe. DIsco-2... never! (Disco-2 is rubbish.. just my view) Rangie 010 probably. DIsco 3&4 and Defender... definitely.

  • Who the hell is making decisions at Toyota now?

Hino? Where the hell are the old, utilitarian and highly capable trucks? They're all going the made-for-USA route. Like they're owned by Land Rover of something. We can't drive so that's why we have ABS TC and A-TC. It's to hard to learn how to use diff locks so they put more costly traction & skid aids on? WTH?

Toyota made SUV's more capable than this & if ppl knew how to maintain them they'd be driving them today but instead we get this? WTH?

  • You sound like you have deeper problems than your issues with Toyota

  • Thankfully here in South Africa we still get a Land Cruiser 70-series wagon and pickup... utilitarian workhorses and they are excellent and as tough as nails.

  • you guys are lucky i love that 70 series but we dont have it in USA.

  • @4xforum Question

Is the v8 engne as STRONG and LASTING as the straight 6's

What do you thnk of VW Amarok and the 2011 Ford Ranger T6

  • @HotHeadCJ V8 is strong, but sensitive to poor quality diesel fuels, unlike the 6's. The Amarok is becoming a problem vehicle with recalls already - diffs, air-cons and several other problems in manufacture. I think they released it prematurely. I like the look of the vehicle.. I find it difficult to get test vehicles cause the manufacturers don't really like me much cause I tell it as I see it. I worry that it has a pretty small engine... endurance wise could be a problem. But a nice package!

  • @4xforum

Same here about Amarok, small engine, but I guess you look a Toyota's 2.2 22r strong and lasts long if you asked and btw Jamaican roads not top spec and the is very hilly.

I really like new ranger, I watched a video from their channel and said that It was being developed to run on any fuel.

I worry about the quality of our diesel fuel(non low sulphur) , mainly becuase it causes hell with commanrail injectors.

What do you think of commonrail diesels?

  • why don't they bring this wonderful machine to the United States!!!!

  • They will bring it to the US, you see the low approach/ departure angles don't ya? & the low door openings for aerodynamics

Only, we won't get the Diesel. The terrifs and taxe$ will be too high. In short 40mpg Diesels put ppl out of work. They hardly ever tear up & half as many fuel tankers are needed & on the highway. 10mpg gas motors keep ppl in work, the economy swinging & 1 out of 3 trucks OTR are fuel trucks

Americans don't do about faces & we can't drive "dirty stinky loud" Diesels

  • Any chances of the Fortuner coming to Canada and how do you know it's gonna be in North America?

  • i hope not ,cuz its a lemon

  • That's what I say! You should see the beautiful ones they have in Thailand with all the moldings and accents. They are amazing.

  • because of our gobberement & domestic manufacturer lobbyists. Ppl WE vote for.

    Please Google: Chicken Tax

Then, if you want to see a 4cyl Diesel in a Prado/ Gx series that gets 35mpg! search for this vid: Toyota Landcruiser LC 2010

  • Thanks for this video. In March 2010 I will own one to discover Patagonia.

  • I like all toyota suvs.. but in my country they cost the double than in us.. and the only one who drives them are choffeurs.

  • I really enjoy your 4x4 tests, however I whish you would do a feature on the Jeep Wrangler. I guess it's not really the practical type 4x4 you usually test but it would be fun to se how it stacks up with the others in the terrain.

  • what about the nissan xterra

  • i have ford Everest and it is greater SUV in standard mode (no modification) than Fortuner, i think that's because i used it more in the field over a long trips than in the city roads on the short hop. Everest more practical for field usage, because higher ground clearance and more durable (torsion spring compare to coil in Fortuner) inside is more spacious than Fortuner, it is fun if you are the driver in Fortuner. but Everest has better lumbar support.

  • fortuner rocks here in india

    nice vid thanx man :)

  • we have this car in indonesia.well actually this type is the facelift.the old one doesn have the 17''inch wheel.the old one use 16.the is also the gas type that use 2,7 liters inline 4 engine.

  • @caronliner24 everest is a better option

  • high-lander is way BETTER!!!!!!!

  • what is a highlander? Who makes it?

  • highlander my car.. search it on google lol..

  • We don't get the Highlander here in South Africa. Why is it better than Fortuner? Do you get Fortuner where you are..?

  • @4xforum fortuner sux,its just a pickup hilux with suv styling,Highlander is a true SUv with tall roof n more durable structure

  • @4xforum becuz higlander is a true SUV,da headroom is tall, while fortuner has a hilux pickup headroom,it is not a real suv,its a modified hilux with taller ground cleaarance

  • isuzu.. i think it an old model.. before the crosswind!

  • highlander is made by toyota. i think its only in USA

  • The high lander is more of a " honey , drop the kids to the school " kinda vehicle.

The Fortuner is a balance between dropping kids to school and taming the outback.

  • @guri131 dats becuz its uncomfy ! i've tried my friends' n cousin's fortuner

  • first of all the fortuner is the 4 runner in a diesel version that is not availible in the states. Unlike the highlander this has a solid rear axle and low range 4WD. the highlander compares to the RAV4 (IFS unibody) even though it is slightly bigger. Also the highlander is not made for any type of offroad driving- so you cant compare.

  • i have one, and i love it.

  • it is loud and the styling is a bit feminine.

  • I both love mitsubishi and toyota vehicles. but here in the philippines the fortuner being compared withe the new montero sport same CRDi engines, people here also prefer the toyota fortuner but what we discovered is that the new toyota D4D engine is not reliable when it comes to flood or river crossing because the water can easily get to the computer box unlike the mitsubishi DiD engine

  • toyota = quality.

  • nice review mate, pretty balanced. Not biased.

@2:23 The 80 just overshadowed the fortuner, what a legend the 80.

  • Thanks... you are right. They say the 80 was developed during Toyota's finest hour. I have a 105 - just as good as the 80 but bigger - which can have its drawbacks. I really like my 105! Fortuner such a good mix for off and on road, but many complain about its firm on-road ride. They expect the ride of a Prado with the off-road performance of a 76! It can never happen!

    Andrew

  • Damn toyota is so damn good... Im almost 18 and im only gonna drive in Toyota's!!!!!

  • japan trash

  • Are you biased towards toyotas??A fortuner seriously!! its ride is pretty crappy and its wobbly over the streets!! We took a turn in one of these things and it felt like the earth just rotated,,its got so much body roll!! Its good off road though..

  • NO. I do my very best not to be biased... but If i like a product or more than one from the same manufacturer, people automatically make that assumption.

I think the Fortuner is a fantastic mix of on and off roader - not as good off road as some, not as good on road as others, but a great combination of both.

  • I like your reviews, especially the adventures!! love to do them, but the only thing i didnt agree with you was bout the on road handling..But i completely agree especially for the price(at least in this part of the world) its a good combination.

  • hello sir ahm just wanna know what is much better manual or automatic coz my dad owns the manual

  • depending on your need..if you're more than 8 in your family than go for the starex but if you also plan to go offroading then fortuner is a good choice just you'll suffer a bit with it's stiff ride.. why don't you consider pajero sport. ride is way better than fort and also better on offroad but it's only 7 seater same with fort.

  • i prefer manual....

but well of ur just new at driving just choose automatic..

im 19 years old and have been driving about 5years ago ^_^.

(but 18 is our legal age to drive ehhe)

the negative about AUTOMATIC is that it consumes more fuel.

the positive on MANUAL is its far better on drag racing ! ^_^.

  • if you want a softer and more comfortable ride..and fuel efficient too.. go get a Hyundai Santa Fe..

  • hello what is better toyota fortuner or the 2006 hyundai starex?????

  • Hyndai Sante Fe...? you have got to be kidding! The Sante Fe doesn't even have low range! In my view, not even in the same category.

  • is it equipped with LSD?

  • stop behaving like an ass

  • nice vid :D

  • speaking about fortuner.. I am neutral on this, if you always go offroading, fortuner won't let you down... but if you are using this car mostly on paved road, I don't think this car is a good choice.. the ride is so stiff.. I think that's the only problem although some says that forts' engine has some choking problems. well, each car is not perfect though.. I do appreciate your preview on fortuner..thanks..

  • Don't mind the haters. I have always enjoyed your videos!

Bring on some new LandCruiser vids. Thanks!

  • I have far more likers than haters. Can't please everybody, everytime. A

  • Count me as a liker.

    .

If you have anymore Hilux videos, please upload them as well.. ;-) Cheers!

  • boring

  • I was wondering to buy fortuner, just want to know which i better option Automatic or Manual> pls help me out....

  • Comment removed

  • Why would you buy one over a Prado?

  • I didn't say prado. I said Jeep Sport and Terracan.

  • like this one too.. 5 stars!

  • great review as always

  • here in ireland a 4x4 with a pertol engine is a rare site.

  • i so wish i could get one over here in canada.. but toyota won't offer it or even offer anything with a diesel..
