  • How much is one of those PROCAB controllers?

  • @TheSquirrelboy2000

the wired controllers run somewhere around the the 150 mark or so.

  • WOW !! Using the power of Linux to power trains. Suddenly i am becoming a DCC fan. The only question now is which flavor of Linux is appropo? Suse, Ubuntu, Mint or Fedora? Who cares, just as long as it is Linux Baby.

  • @Cameron9242008

We are using Fedora, but we have another machine running Ubuntu. Linux is a great OS!

  • @southernpacificsd40

yes for this computer we are using fedora, out other two computer that will run signals are windows

  • WOOT LINUX IS AMAZING!!

  • @TXTCLA55

    It sure is!

  • It took you forever to get to actually running the train..... but somehow it helped! What you showed is 100 times better than the people with a tiny loop claiming to be running a train on DCC. It looks to me that you're making videos as you're learning how to mess with computer control. Please don't stop!

  • Hey sburggsx,

Thanks for the comment, yeah I wanted to show the steps from begining to end on how to get it moving. This year we are going to be doing alot of how to's mostly revoling around dcc, setup, jmri's decoder pro and soon panel pro and of course the club updates. So trust me we arent going to stop!

  • I forgot I left my grain train in a Old Style Consist" In which ill do a video this friday to explain that (old style consists can be the best!)

  • that is wicked cool....where do you download or get a cd for this software? and how much? cool man

  • JMRI and Linux are both Free software I will post a link to both places so that you can download and try out for yourself

  • Do you have any idea if this software would be able to work with the Bachman EZ command DCC system through connecting it to the computer with its IP port?

  • Im not too sure about the Bachman ez DCC system although it might be possible check the JMRI's site to see if its compatible

  • i doubtit, you can even program with ez-command, maybe dynamis.

  • now that cool do you know if i can do that with my MRC dcc system?

  • It might, I think i remember reading something about it working with the MRC system, But to truely make sure it does check out JMRI's website

  • mrc has free software on their website to control trains but needs a speical cable
