success is subjective and Joe Rogan being an american gauges success by the amount of paper i.e. money one accumulates. You can be a successful physicist, violinst, painter, wrestler etc. you cant just be labeled "successful" because you spent your energy and your whole life accumulating money to satisfy your ego and senses. A banker who spends 15 hours ripping others off has no time to refine his character and intellect and contribute to humanity or is that too much to ask for!

ALSO I live in Canada, Ontario and i disagree on a HUGE level when they say that the quality of life between a rich person in Canada and a middle class person in Canada doesnt differ much from a lower class person. The people with money here in Ontario dont struggle to pay bills, dont have to worry about finances, dont have to stress about whether the hydro or electrical bills are gonna be paid or not. Their quality of life is AMAZING and i would do everything to have that!

meh, even if the goverment did take you'r excess wealth after you die, people would just start giving their kids the assets and money when they retire, or at a certin age and put all the homes and shit in their names...plus this is a horrible idea...the percentage they took would keep raising like taxes, and they would change the definition of excess wealth until u had nothing left. fuck the greedy goverment

When 51% of people dont pay taxes a politician can pander to them by making ppl with any wealth at all the enemy. The root problem with our society is overpopulation and government holding ppl back. When u r on welfare u r not going to get a job.It hurts people, it doesnt help them.The system is rigged 4 corporations and the mega wealthy but going the other way is just as bad.

@sublimezlw1016 True, but in reality $100,000 is excess wealth, no one NEEDS that much, especially at a time when we should be consuming less, thats what i was getting at. And the poor do get taxed less, but then you have the mega wealthy getting tax breaks - which is inevitable with capitalism since they have all the power. I agree that overpopulation is a major problem although I wouldnt say its the root problem; it's one we have to adjust our outdated system to.

I disagree with Joe on this one. His argument is "if your successful, you earned it, therefore you should do what you want with it". If you're successful chances are you didn't earn it. You can pretty much determine at birth which socio-economic environment someone will grow up to live in. And to say that a white collar position should make more than a blue collar position is an unrealistic opinion; one could argue labour workers deserve a higher financial compensation then, say, a businessman

taxes should be a flat percentage across the board, & people's resources should not be allocated by the government after that pass on. instead of worse and distorted, governments need to learn how to make life better for as many as possible, if governments are to be valued at all
