im more entertained watching this guy than any gay modern mainstream rapper or people like lil wayne. and yet, lil wayne is more famous than this dude. what is wrong with our world?
Excellent! If I can still play (and want to) when I am his age I will consider myself very lucky. (That was a truly evil quip -9gag. Nearly made me hurl laughing.)
@MochaMan247 Haha... yeah. Jimmy Page is in some old 1970 Zeppelin footage (Royal Albert Hall concert) playing in a sweater vest just like that. Must be a little known guitar player thing...
Wow this is awesome, he is pretty lucky to still be able to play at such an impressive age. You know with the relationship between guitarists and arthritis haha. Rock on Grandpa.
Thanks for sharing this. Not too many people his age who could still play up and down the fretboard like him, or really play at all. He seems more like he's in his early 80's from his looks and coordination. Gotta give him props for that argyle sweater, too!
@ant1ph0n This an ES 137 I think a fancy issue with gold plating and extra binding . When I did some dates on the road last summer with Uncle Ted he had one of these in addition to a bunch of Gibsons mostly Byrdlands and a Paul or 2 .Great axe: These are fine Guitars. I much prefer them over the double cutaway ES's 335. 345 355. Neck is not well supported and IMO they are silly looking. This 137 looks beautiful but make no mistake it is still solid in the through middle .
I'm lucky enough to call this gentleman my Grandfather, he started playing when he was about 12 and shared his passion with many of the grandkids. much love and respect to you Grandfather.
@ridleman That's great, thanks for posting. I don't know why, but this really speaks to me. Certain things just give you a shot in the arm, ya know? Got a little emotional, too, watching it, for some reason.
Terrible! Absolutely TERRIBLE! Didn't this guy get the memo? Today's music isn't supposed to have ANY EMOTION! All joking aside, this man is an inspiration. Keep playing great music!
@joshua9312 Grandpa plays nice HUH: He probably stared learning Classical guitar which is all fingers. Picks are good for somethings but there is a level of control you get using fingers that is beyond pick . I use a hybrid holding a pick and using all the fingers too but mostly pick and middle finger .This fairly common in Nashville. Watch Albert Lee . Then Jeff Beck whom in recent years uses mostly fingers. Also check out Paco Delucia .OMG Look into the Bumble Bee Pick.
@Geepsterr Not wanting to come out as an arrogant ass here, but he's not classically trained nor does that matter at all. Being a classically trained musician, its easy to tell. Albert Lee isnt much of a hybrid picker either, though he does occasionally hybrid pick. You should see Danny Gatton, a real master of hybrid picking. I hybrid pick too, but it ain't easy hah but I'm at an advantage due to the classical background I have.
@joshua9312 Oh you don't sound arrogant to me at all, Still but of course this guy could have started with Classical lessons & not followed it very far and that could have been 75 years ago . Seriously if you like the hybrid thing, get a Bumble Bee Pick and experiment . I think it will make it easy for you as it is for me. Worth a shot right ?
Nice, is that an ES-135? Steve Howe played on and Les Paul too I think. I hope I can still play like this when I am 92! Great video, never stop playing!
