i have a reg cab 07 5.3. i love the look & sound of this exhaust could you point me in the direction to find one for my truck? id appreciate it thanks
I agree with the comments about it sounding stock. That's why I have never been too fond of Flowmaster. To me personally, it's only a good raspy sound if there is horsepower at the front of it. MagnaFlow and Corsa sounds good on anything. Just do a search on here for 4.3L V6 with MagnaFlow exhaust and almost all of them have the cats still and sound much louder than many V8's with exhausts. That's without headers too. Cant explain why it is, It just is lol.
@cmoneyTHEhitmaker yes but you would have to move the fuel tank other wise the exhaust pipe would be to close and melt the tank and not be good outcome if there was any gas, but with out a tank mod or move i would not and most shops will not build exhaust out both sides.
So it wasn't the 50 series SUV right? Just the 50 series Big Block? I love this sound, i just not sure if i wanna put this or a magnaflow. I have a 40 series SI/SO on my 04 5.3 and its just too loud. I want a nice tone like this.
@Camcyde21 Yeah the 50 big block, It will be quiter especially in the cab compared to the 40 series (3 chambers instead of 2) but it keeps the same flowmaster tone, its even deeper then the 40 just not as loud.
What was the interior noise like? I want a system very similar, but I want to be able to carry on a conversation in the truck, be it by phone or in person with the passenger, without having to yell. Also, did you have the 50HD muffler?
@zachcopp the interior noise is low, when ur just driving under normal conditions and cruising/idle, you wont really hear it in the cab, but if you get on it or when ur accelerating you wil hear it but not loud enough to drone you out while talking. (just be sure to put the muffler farther back and try to run your exhaust out behind the tire to keep the cab drone down the most) the muffler was 50 series big block, had dual inlets and outlets
I have a 2005 silverado 4.8 thinking about a Cat-back System - Dual Rear Exit - Force II Flowmaster exhaust...with maybe the 50 series muffler.....what do you think?
50 series will sound good, its loud enough and has a good deep rumble, 40 series is a lil louder but also sounds good on the 4.8's, check out my other vids I got one of a buddys chevy truck with a 4.8, with a single super 40 series muffler. So it just depends on what your wanting, I think 50 series will have a deeper tone though
So the "In front of the tire" experiment was not a good one? Is it louder? I think it looks nice though. If I go straight out the back I suppose that will make it quieter in the cabin?
I liked the tips but the style faded on me, and yes puting the tips in front of the tire moved the muffler under the cab and the exhaust exit to just behind it so it was alot more drone then regular placement, I actually took the tips off and dumped it without moving the muffler and this increased drone even more, Also the tips play a facter in the sound, actually lot of peeps call em echo tips cause they help make the wot wot more define
I listened to it. That one sounds louder than this one, is that correct? Does the dual inlet and duel outlet have a slightly quieter sound? I want something that is deep and rumble but not excessive in decibels. I want to be able to talk in the cabin but be able to here it the rumble.
yeah the 05 does sound louder, but they are different engines so that may play a facter, the 50 series will def give you that good low rumble idle and sound aggressive when accelerating, it shouldnt get to loud unless your getting on it, thats why i changed mine out, wanted it louder :), but run your pipes out the back or dump after the axel so you dont get drone in the cab.
they both increase sound, how much not sure, and make the tone different then it would be with out, i think they both make it sound more agressive, but never tried an h-pipe personally. if you wanna hear another 50 series, check out my other vids, theres one with an 05 chevy, its a single inlet dual outlet 50 series, no x pipe
tips are 3.5" stainless steel, rolled edge, my muffler shop carried them so im not sure what brand they are but you can get em from alot of different online car stores, also the x-pipe the main reason i got it was for added sound, but from what i am told, x-pipe = more hp, h-pipe = more torque
well I guess you could sya the muffler is the same idea as an X-pipe but its got chambers in it which makes the muffler the muffler so still having an x-pipe before is going to make a lil difference, Stock cats still in place so no CEL's, also I have changed to dynomax bullets, look at other vids to see current setup
going to change it up a bit this weekend, going to install either glasspacks or dynomax bullets and going with cowboy style exhaust exit with 3.5" or 4" tips, throw a vid up when i get it done
yeah, I am disapointed how the audio turned out on the camera actually, I plan on making another video now with the turn downs and see if it sounds a little better.
im not sure, this was a custom job at a local muffler shop, it might come out behind the tire if you order a cat back exhaust setup (not sure though), but you could always shorten it to have it exit in front of the tire if you want,
ah went back to turn downs the other day, got tired of cleaning tips, it actually got quiter, gonna put in some electric cutouts later, cause i like it loud.
It almost sounds like a jake brake when it goes to 4 cylinder...kinda neat actually...i have the same exhaust on the sierra......as this truck is, its a looker....dodge boys...and ford boys....sneak a peak all the time...its allright to look boys :)
You Think It Sounds Louder On The Side, Or Two Tail Pipes?

Sounds stock.. Go with corsa sport. That sounds awesome. Anybody who puts flowmasters on a 5.3 is a sucker. Way overpriced piece of shit.

its one flowmaster 50 series dual inlet dual outlet muffler, I also have a shop made x-pipe before the muffler.
