Did you stop by Lake Scott State Park while you were out there? If you like lakes, it's really a pretty little place. It was named one of National Geographic's "must see" state parks back in the late 90s, and it's about 15 miles or so south west of the Monument Rocks. Lots of neat little springs, wooded canyons, a cool Spanish-style beach house, good hiking, etc. If you've never been you should check it out.
