I Agree. Politics should be debated by politicians, mathematics should be debated by mathematicians, science should be debated by scientics, weather should be debated by meteorologists, family values should be debated by families.
the problem is that not enough people are debating. people in today's society tend to steer away from conflict and prefer to take it up the ass, whilst bopping to the latest poppy trash.
The gingrich & other religious republican hypoctites hate themselves, Their weaknesses / personality defects are unknowingly projected outwardly onto others, for a desperate battle against their own self hate, just like a school yard bully.
How does any explain south carolina? I mean the people who reside there. South Carolinians? Wtf? How stupid and brainwashed can a "people" become? Anyone who thinks the msm is dying better think again. The south carolina result is your proof. Protestant Ron Paul has been married 54 years. He served dutifully in the military. Meanwhile, catholic-nute is a philandering bum and Romormaney is a died-in-the-wool banker's man and both men shirked their military responsibilities. The msm is in charge.
Gingrich did indeed turn a phrase on John King. By doing this he effectively made himself the victim instead of the perpetrator and got a standing ovation from the audience and I still can't believe people fell for that trick like non thinking emotional morons. The question of his morality went unanswered as he ranted about question was out of line for a presidential debate. Bullshit. I agree that if you are claiming to have high moral standards then prove it. Otherwise stay in your own lane.
You like bringing politicians down? With Newt Gingrich, that is like shooting fish in a barrel. The man is an absolute scoundrel. I can't believe any person would ever vote for him. The problem is immoral people have to trick relatively moral people into voting for them, and even portray themselves as moral, with the media's help of course.
It's pretty much never wrong to say anyone who comes from a moral standpoint to begin with is always a hypocrite from the time they opened their mouths.
The King Gingrich exchange seemed very rehearsed to me. The fact that Newt has a very close relationship with some at CNN makes me believe it definitely could have been a set up.
Ultimately if you run on personality you lose on personality. If you run on character you better have a good character. If you are an honest person you will be beat by a person who can manipulate the media. Media is influenced by personality.
No kidding, I think people (and politicians like Gingrich) should mind their business, they better find something better to do in they're life (what whatever they have in they're life).
I don't think politicians should blindly do what people want. People are stupid. Most shouldn't even be allowed to vote.
I doubt desegregation would've happened if the government just did what people wanted. Of course, government caused segregation in the first place when many businesses were opposed to it and wanted black customers.
I don't think you can completely escape from legislating morality.E.g.:murder is immoral. Great point about the hypocrisy. An adulterer trying to get someone fired for committing adultery is bad enough, but Newt's adultery was far worse.I can't remember if Newt's adultery was publicly known at that point.Blatant hypocrisy makes me even madder, because the hypocrite is basically calling us all stupid on top of all the rest. Then they get away with it,and I realize they're right.People are stupid.
Gingrich and Paul are the only ones that could debate Obama. Romney is a phony plastic person with a soul made of monopoly money and get out of jail free cards. Santorum is a puppy. Ron Paul can out truth them all.Even is they say he's unelectable, I think his foreign policy can pull liberal votes from Obama, and his party will pull repubs, thus slicing both ways and pulling a victory easily. If Ron Paul splits he must call himself independent. Libertarian will alienate too many to win.
Romney doesn't stand a chance against Obama. People hate his rich, smug ass. Those who don't soon will. Newt is the only GOP candidate who has a chance. He does not have a chance due to the quality of his ideas which are shit. He has a chance because of two things. One is that he is very well informed so he can appear smarter than he really is thus giving his stances on the issues seeming credibility. The second is that he can entertain like a circus clown. And, people do like to be entertained.
The only people who are a threat to the "sanctity" of marriage are people who are married. Married couples determine how "sacred" their marriage is, or how unworthy it is. No one, from the outside, either gay or straight, can determine that. So for conservatives to say that someone from the outside, like gays, can somehow threaten the "sanctity" of their marriage means that they are playing the victim card that they always accuse liberals of playing.
The exact antithesis of a TRUE conservative is someone who cares what someone else does in the privacy of their own home. So any GOP member who wants the government to interfere in the rights of gays and lesbians is not a conservative.
Once people start using obama care, they will realize it's good for the country. The only reason Republicans are so desperate to kill it, is cuz they are bought by the insurance companies & big pharma! they dont give a shit about sick ppl.
@sleekcartim As someone who live in MA where Obama care has been rolled out to us already in Romney care, it has been a NIGHTMARE w/ insurance premiums constantly going up. We (MA residents) owe more money in taxes now than before Romney care. If you are a single person living w/in your means this hits you the hardest.
@JusticePetitioner Im in MA, i have MS. I use Mass health. If i were in a republican run state i would be FUCKED without insurance. Hell, i would be FUCKED with insurance! Mass health pays all my medical bills. You would change your mind, if you or some other fun loving "compassionate" republican had a disease for which you couldnt pay. USA health care MUST change to something other than insurance companies. It's scary obvious (esp to someone who is desperately in need) this has to change!
@sleekcartim I am someone who has a family member who has rheumatoid arthritis. Has insurance, and cant even afford medicine. They couldnt get on Mass health because they made to much money (under 24k a year). You are over here slamming Republicans yet it was a Rep who put this 'system' in place. Not everyone can get Mass Health that 'needs' it.
@JusticePetitioner First of all i did say romney care is the only GOOD thing he did. NOW is running away from it! Romney care is a safety net for indigent ppl, for those who cant afford to pay, cant work etc... Im guessing their RA is progressive, probably in time they will not be able to work... then he / she can get on Mass health. I will remind you a Republican set the threshhold for acceptance. I KNOW the WORSE hell they will go thru in an R state without safety net health care
@sleekcartim Its NOT good though, that is the point. People who NEED health care cant get it (I am glad you were able to). Care being the key word here, not insurance. You have the Gov paying your medical bills. What about those who dont? What about those who cant afford the insurance THEN get fined for not having it?? Waiting till someone is incapacitated to help them defeats the purpose.
@JusticePetitioner History has proven NOT FOR PROFIT GOV run health care system can & does do a good job, take medicare medicaid for instance. They are widely accepted as good gov programs. Voters help keep system honest. Current FOR PROFIT insurance company controlled health care system clearly isnt working well & is intensly expensive, not to mention a FAR too powerful & controlling lobbying entity. bottom line: If you cant afford to pay pray for obama care
Love how Gingrich is "outraged" that the media is showing him the mirror. the man is a total asshole & worse doesnt even see it. The man has made SO MANY personal gafs, that his personal life & many racist / insensitive comments / situations CANT be ignored. It speaks so much to the mans character. even the GOP leaders hate him & speak out about him. He's NOT presidential.

Debate: Obama v. Paul? PAUL WOULD want to stick to issues important to ME, and should be important to USA.. Obama? NOT so MUCH.
People who are dishonest in their private lives are usually dishonest in their public and professional lives as well. We need people of private and public integrity to take the lead in all areas of life. The government and therefore, politicians as well, have no business interfering in the our personal lives telling us what we can and cannot put in our bodies and who we can and cannot associate with.

I fail to see how Edwards was hypicrtical. He certainly did something horrble to his wife, but since when was he legislating or running his campaign on marital morality?
Hell yeah. Protean, I was just thinking the exact same thing this morning while listening to Newt going on and on about it being unfair that people are throwing his personal life out in the open.
*Romney - strength: good at economy w/lots of experience; weakness: Romneycare
*Paul - strengths: very knowledgeable, has a plan to lower debt & improve economy, no personal scandals (known so far); weakness: some plans too radical and make many uncomfortable
*Santorum - strength: will appeal to the evangelicals with his Bible thumping; weakness: has no real plan for the economy and jobs, which Obama can point out
*Gingrich - strength: great debater; weakness: LOTS of baggage & inconsistencies
@raspberrymuffin Umm no,romney care is the ONLY thing he did right. I live in MASS & use it. I would be in serious shit if i lived in a republican run state. The bought & paid for GOP are character assisnation experts when it comes to those who help the poor & sick. History judges Societies on how they treat those who are in need. If the republicans can pay for a 10 year unnecessary war, They can take healthcare from the blood sucking heartless profit driven insurance companies & HELP PPL
I meant "weakness" as in when it comes to what Barack could use against Romney in debates. Very likely Obama will say that Romney put in a public health care, and he can use that when they are running against each other, if Romney wins the nomination.
@raspberrymuffin Romney is a slick politician. all his flip flopping will come to roost when obama debates him. plus it's hard to cheer for a devout mormon. Mormon cult, er i mean "church" is SERIOUSLY PUSHY / SECRETIVE & CONTROLLING too. You KNOW theres an agenda there! Dont think obama has any serious competition, It's another 4 years of obama for sure IMHO.
How those moralizing politicians who preach freedom and then come out with their "thou shall not" don't know they sound like they have MPD is beyond me. The same people who think their big corporate friends should have the right to put whatever chemicals they want in your air, food, & water also want to legislate who you have consensual sex with and how.
Totally. These people claim to be for freedom, but then are against: abortion rights, birth control rights, gay marriage, prostitution, pornography, marijuana, secular law that is neutral to religion, group relationships, straight couples living together, rap music, video games, etc...
Rick "I don't believe you have the right to privacy or birth control" Santorum. Newt "I'm a power hungry serial hypocrite" Gingrich. Willard "fuck you and your jobs while I make another million" Romney. Ron "I'm honest, predictable and trustworthy" Paul.
I actually like talking about religion—like talking about how the early Christian epoch differed on doctrine with nearly all that came from the Church and thereafter—but…nobody cares about that. People really don’t care about anything miraculous, magical, eternal—they care about trying to be like Billy Graham. And they don’t even care about that: they care about hitting other people in the head w/ Graham, saying “That’s not what Billy Graham would do!!” And that’s all.
Using religion to validate their hate. I honestly think a lot of religious people would hate homosexuals even if the Bible ignored them. Just like how many religious people hate communists and liberals, though the Bible never spoke of them.
@raspberrymuffin It’s supposed to be what people are most inwardly serious about. Then…if it’s Christianity in question, seems Jesus said, “Only those who hate mother, father, family, their own life can be my disciples”; in other words, being a monk on top of the mountain isn’t for everyone. But it’s warped into a means of selective chauvinism. Perry’s quote on Newt: “Newt’s not perfect, but who among us is?” Sad, Perry and all like him are not more generous w/ that insight.
britney spears had a 55 hour marriage, larry king had 8 divorces, kim kardashians marriage lasted 72 days, 43-50% of marriages end in divorce. yeah its the gays that are destroying marriage, that makes sense.
The Ron Paul / Barak Obama debate is the only potential debate that will have any contrast or content.. other republicans candidates are not really different than Obama on any of the essential issues to the country and will sound more like Obama is debating himself
I think that most of the status quo politicians like Obama, Romney, Gingrich, Santorum etc.... are scripted, polished and following the agenda no matter which side they play. Ron Paul speaks from his actual knowledge and...from his heart. That's what others are missing. I don't agree with everything that RP says...But, at least he speaks his truth and he's not just trying to placate the public and the corporate masters. Beyond that...everybody needs to mind their own business.
My problem w/Gingrich is he doesn't want judgment for his extra-marital affairs, but feels he has a "right" to judge the relationships of others. Plus like proteanview said, he judged Clinton for doing what he did the EXACT same time. If Gingrich didn't get into personal issues, then I wouldn't have a problem. But the fact that Gingrich feels he can tell me he has a right to deny me the right to marry another woman, or 2 bisexual men, b/c it's "immoral," yet cheats on his wife, makes him sleazy.
Excellent points. But what's with the fireflies at the end? Lol!

The purpose of govt is to make you a criminal if you do not do what politicians say. Period.
In other words, how do you claim sovereign right to your own morality when the govt can demand you help them 'make more bombs' for instance.
The moral sovereignty you are demanding is a sliver compared to that which you are denied.

I fail to see how Edwards was hypicrtical. He certainly did something horrble to his wife, but since when was he legislating or running his campaign on marital morality?
oolong2 1 month ago
Hell yeah. Protean, I was just thinking the exact same thing this morning while listening to Newt going on and on about it being unfair that people are throwing his personal life out in the open.

Gingrich psychology: I can judge you, but damned if you judge me.

@sleekcartim
Very likely. I personally am not to excited over this year's nominee selection. I'm not happy with Obama or any of the GOP.

Don't try to get politics don't involve moral laws unless you can declare your point of view of the government is just to protect private property.
Stonegoal 1 month ago
How those moralizing politicians who preach freedom and then come out with their "thou shall not" don't know they sound like they have MPD is beyond me. The same people who think their big corporate friends should have the right to put whatever chemicals they want in your air, food, & water also want to legislate who you have consensual sex with and how.

@trajan74
Totally. These people claim to be for freedom, but then are against: abortion rights, birth control rights, gay marriage, prostitution, pornography, marijuana, secular law that is neutral to religion, group relationships, straight couples living together, rap music, video games, etc...
raspberrymuffin 1 month ago

@freddietz96
Using religion to validate their hate. I honestly think a lot of religious people would hate homosexuals even if the Bible ignored them. Just like how many religious people hate communists and liberals, though the Bible never spoke of them.
raspberrymuffin 1 month ago

AceofDiamonds0 1 month ago 42
@AceofDiamonds0 that's just first marriages. rates for second marriages and on are progressively dismal.

The Ron Paul / Barak Obama debate is the only potential debate that will have any contrast or content.. other republicans candidates are not really different than Obama on any of the essential issues to the country and will sound more like Obama is debating himself
Fukkutah 1 month ago
