  • Thank you for your response. I am very excited to start taking care of pigeons, but I need to gather some info to know how to offer the appropriate accommodation for them.

    Thanks again.

    I appreciate your advice.

    Good luck to you too..

  • @Naifmylife Hey your very welcome, thanks for taking the time to comment, have a nice weekend. Carl

  • Hi, I liked your easy simple new loft. well done!

I have a question if you do not mind, how do you take care of the pigeons in winter??

What do you suggest since I live in CT where it is too cold in winter?

    Thanks a lot.

  • @Naifmylife Pigeons are very tough birds and there is not much difference in keeping them in the winter from the summer really, but you must always keep an eye that their drinking water does not freeze, they will also tend to need more food during the cold weather, but seriously cold weather does not cause any trouble at all for pigeons, many thanks for your comment, and good luck if you get some pigoens yourself. Carl

  • Good job on this one Carl.. smile ;-)

  • @SongsAndCuisine Thanks Yvonne and so sorry for the late reply,i told you i don't come here that often lol, great to see you here. Carl

  • Hi Carl

I really liked your video i live in sydney, and i have a pigeon loft, but not good as yours, i have only one question for you

how big the nesting box should be if i wanna keep the pair inside it till they mate and then i will open it ?

your nesitng box are open from the front , the purpose of having it closed is to controle the breed f the pigeon istead of waiting for them to randmly mate :) ?

thanks again for your video and thank you in advance for your answer

  • @romantique123 Hi Mate,i would not say that you needed a set size nest box for what you want to do,but 2ft or even 3ft would be more than enough i would say,but always make sure its the cock birds own box where you pair them up in,as it makes life a lot easier.i always used to use a mobile nest box front if i wanted to pair a particular pair of birds up together, but as you can see i just let them pair up to who they want top pair up to,but then i dont race them no more.thanks for watching. Carl

  • @MrCarlr7 thanks for your help Carl, i don't race pigeon two but i have couple of goo breed like Arch Angel , tumbler, so i don't want them to mix up together because the cross breed is like nothing, they look like a wild pigeon, it is very easy for me to build a pairing box 2ft or 3ft wide but what will be the depth and the height of it thank you

  • @romantique123 Hi Mate,i would probably say a depth of about 1.5 to 2 ft, but as long as they have got enough room to do the business if you know what i mean lol,Good luck and i hope it all goes well for you. Carl

  • @MrCarlr7 yes so i will do it as small as i can thanks for your advice so i will stick to 2ft wide 1.5ft the depth and 1.0ft height when i will build some i provide you with some photos :) but what's holding me back till now is the face of it i couldn't find a cheap material to do it, because i don't wanna use wire i wanna use timber rhodes and i can't find it till now

  • @romantique123 Hi you could just use some batterns for the front or a piece of plywood with many circular holes drilled through it,and that sometimes looks quite nice and its effective to,and i find pigeons like a nest box which gives them a bit of cover/privacy on one half of the box. Carl

  • @MrCarlr7 i finished one front box i made it my self, i wish i can send you a photo is there a way please advice

  • Hi Carl, this is a very good video, did it take you long to build it.my auntie used to keep pigeons but she only had a very small shed which she kept them in,nothing as grand as this. Lisa

  • @lisacalantini Hi Lisa, yeah it took me quite a while to build as i was fitting it in when ever i had any time on my hands, and as for the shed your Auntie had, well pigeons will home to anything if they are fed and looked after but keeping them happy is the real secret, but the more room they have the better.thanks for watching. Carl

  • Nice work, nice loft. I agree, the birds are happiest when they have room to fly a bit.

Is your missus an Aussie? lol

  • @FrankCleocuz ha ha,no mate but i have been out with an Aussie girl before.thanks for watching and for your funny comment. Carl

  • Very cool Carl. I check out loft designs on youtube from time to time to get ideas for future loft building. I live in Norwalk California. Thank you for posting. Have a Blessed day.

  • @NEVERLEAVEORFORSAKE Hi,yeah i built the extention to my loft with the pigeons in mind rather than for my own needs as i really dont like pigeon lofts with corridoors, as they may be nice for people viewing the pigeons but i dont think the pigeons like them much.i have been in many lofts and you can always tell if pigeons are happy of not and happy pigeons are winning pigeons, and i really do believe that pigeon lofts should have a flight if there is enough room.thanks for watching. Carl

  • hey!! Carl i am new to the sport and would like to get some advice from you far as me being a new comer any thing to help me keep my birds healthy would greatly be appreciated.if i get your response i will send you my phone number to chat.

  • @504inthe318 Hi Mate sorry for the late reply but this message did not come through to my inbox.hey you live in the U.S and i live in England so a phone call would be very expensive lol, anything you want to know about keeping pigeons, just drop me a line,as im always happy to give some advice. i have been keeping them for some years now and i know most things about how to keep them and how to race them.thanks for watching my video. • @Macrodude1 Thank you, when this was filmed it was not really intended for youtube and there was a lot more filming done than what i used for this video, but when i played the videos back i thought it would be a good idea to edit a 10 minute video for my channel and i am very surprised to just how many views it has had.Glad you liked it and many thanks for watching. • hi i want to start but i dont have any where to keep my pigeons i want to have a couple of racing pigeons but i need to get a loft do you know where i can get one?

  • @crazymix305 hi,im in England and your in the USA so i cant see what help i could give you really, but you only need a few old boards of timber to get yourself started, as pigeons will home and come back to anywhere they feel happy to be.if your only wanting a couple of birds to start with you really dont need a massive shed to keep them in.sometimes they will home to something as small as a large rabbit hutch but of cause the bigger the loft the better.i hope this is of help to you. CARL

  • nice vid man you are an inspiration :)

im 23 and starting with the pigeon racing but since nobody in my family does it i have to do it all on myself

    But we'll get there ! :D

  • very very nice. im looking to start pigeon racing as most of my family does it already i was thinking of buying a shed and kitting it out with a avarie (averie?) that goes around 3 of the walls but the forth wall would be the windows and i would take out 1 window and put in a trap and cover the rest of the hole with wood.... do you think that idea would work? + also how much did your avarie(?) cost for building supplys?

  • @mikeyduke10 hi,i think your idea sounds fine, pigeons will adapt to almost anywhere, but i think its always a good idea to have an aviary for your birds.your lucky that your family keeps pigeons as you will always have good advice at hand.my loft extension cost me over £1000 in total with the plywood for the floor and nest boxes costing the most, but it can be done a lot cheaper than that.good luck to you and i hope it all goes well and thanks for the sub. CARL

  • what a great video with some fantastic pigeons.

  • Carl hello mate. How are you? i have a question for you please.. i slipt a female and a male in a cage separated from all the other pigeons in the loft becaue i have 90 por cent males and 20 per cent females... how much time do you think they will mate and lay eggs?

  • @duarte6100 if they have settled in the gage and are not trying to get out, they could pair up and have eggs in about two weeks i reckon, but it depends on the pigeons as im sure you know yourself they are all a bit different.

  • Carl my friend how are you. I want to make you a question... How´s your trap for the pigeon´s entrance in the loft? fter they enter they cant not get out again or is it a simple one that the get out and get in and out etc..... Thanks mate.. Post more videos

  • @duarte6100 hi,i let the pigeons out of two small doors above the traps and i also let them out through the two main doors, but all the doors are closed when i call them in and they re enter the loft through the bolt hole traps which i think are the best trapping system for pigeons as i think they prefer them.if you look through some of my videos you should be able to see what im talking about.im hoping to do some more videos soon and i will film my trapping system for you,all the best , carl

  • that loft is excepional.nice skills men. I see you like to do bricolage. with this videos i gain some ideas for my loft extension to :) thanks

  • @duarte6100 thanks for your comment,im glad my video gave you some ideas, its very important for the pigeons to be happy in their loft as happy pigeons get home quicker which is very important if you race your pigeons.thanks again for your comment, carl

  • carl i have pigeons 15 years from now and im only 25 lol. i only have 18 good pigeons. my cousin have more than 300 pigeon. in y vacations im august i will remodel my loft and il post a video. Greetings my friend.

  • @duarte6100 i started to keep pigeons when i was 11 and have packed them in a few times due to moving house and things like that but i have always ended up keeping them again as its quite a good hobby.all my family are big animal lovers but the pigeons have always been our favourites and always will be. thanks for your comment, carl

  • @duarte6100 how many pigeon you started i have 2 pigeon i cant wait them to lay egg... =[ how them fast lay egg? what will i feed i feeding them Pigeon pellet

  • @123Nidz my frend the usualy lay leggs on the summer more often but in the winter ins less frequent to lay eggs. to easy up for your couple to have more eggs faster you can release them out of the loft because they make love more easy. lol i cant explain in better way.... maybe two months after they get togheter.. i only have 15 pigeons.. i started withe two... a female and a male...

  • @duarte6100 ohhhh.... okay... but my 1 pair of pigeon not going back on their loft.

  • @123Nidz hmmmm 3 months top.... put a nest with sand for them.... to put the eggs..

  • That, My Friend,, Is The Best Pigeon Loft I Have Seen Made By Man Exxelent Workk ;)

  • @yaspicho thanks for your kind comment, its was hard work at times and took quite a while to finish but was well worth it in the end,but most of all the pigeons like it.the new extention is quite easy to clean out unlike the old part of the loft, and the extention has 110 nest boxes so the pigeons have plenty of room.

  • Excellent work !!!

    5 *****

  • @hanykoky cheers mate,it took me ages but well worth the wait and the birds love it.

  • @rokafellatezza619 nearly two months in total

  • @rokafellatezza619 thanks for your coments,it did take rather a long time to finish.

  • i have been in this loft and it is even better up close even though hd is rather good :D

  • @rokafellatezza619 thanks mate, your right the video does not do the loft justice and it does not really capture just how big it is.

  • The Good Life..........This video made my night......... I love pigeons and very nice loft

  • @95milkbone thanks for your coments,it was meant to be a new loft and i was meant to be knocking down the old one,but i ended up joining it up to the old loft and the pigeons love it and they sure like being in the flight.

  • @MrCarlr7 NICE WORK

  • @95milkbone thankyou
