  • It's all plaaaastic.

  • Lol! Manual overwhat? XD I'll like to see this kid's pictures..

  • The link to my flickr account in on my channel. And this video is pretty old, take that into consideration.

  • @7Royalty Manual focus override, manual focusing while on AF mode. You can fuck up your focus motor if you manual focus in AF with out that. The actual name is full time manual focus.

  • @7Royalty override... meaning you turn it when the lens is in autofocus and it overrides it making it manual.

  • Nice job getting that dust into your camera!!!

    well done! (or not)

  • I think that the lens in your hand were in a pig farm before making that video...

  • mm take a nice photo of when your balls drop for me

  • Oh my fucking god you're so American. I want to kill your accent. It's so fucking annoying.

  • @hoppidyhip i think hes canadian... he has that accent that pisses people off

  • r u related to beiber ??

  • do you think I should get this lens or the canon fd 50mm 1.4? They both are around the same price including the adapter for the 1.4 fd

  • I like how he keeps blowing the little specks of dust off the lens, filter and lens cap yet keeps the camera body pointing straight up for such a long time without a body cap or glass on it and doesn't seem to have a problem with it.

The 30D has GREAT dust removal features though, right? RIGHT?

  • Thanks for pointing out the web site. Just ordered and it was cheaper than Amazon and cheap second day air.

  • dude so pimp his clothes match his bed board and sheets lol

  • 15,000 pictures. DAMN!

  • dude don't blow on your lenses. you are adding moisture from your breath in them! and then you put the filter on, perfect habitat for those microscopic little nasty fungus.

  • why film yourself "testing the lens" when you are just mounting it and taking some aimless photos...? And your sensor must be coated in dust...

  • 1) Camera : Canon Rebel series EOS 500D or 550D (without the kit lens 35-55mm f3.5-5, just a waste of money) You straight away save around $100.

    2) Lenses : a) A prime lens for close, sharp & artistic pictures : EF50mm f/1.8 II lens Cost : Around $ 80 -100 b) A telephoto lens for zoomed photography like nature & chicks !!! : Canon 55-250mm 4-5.6 IS lens Cost : Around $ 120 -

    130

    Camera + 2 lenses = 1 AWESOME DEAL !

  • hey,

I really want this lens but I was told that you get a slight vignette on the edges when filming because of the sensor on the 7D. Do you ever have this problem on your camera?

    thanks

  • @ItsRyanStudios Well honestly, I never have any problems especially once I stop the aperture to f/2.0 or f/2.2

  • @ItsRyanStudios

I have this lens and the 7D and have never had this problem!

  • @ItsRyanStudios vignetting can easily be fixed in lightroom. So its not much of a serious issue

  • You seem to know camera well, my only concern is that you are pretty boring.

  • Will the Tamaron and Sigma Lens Fit on the Canon XT Rebel?

Good Job on the 50MM Lens Review

  • its so funny how you say 'much much brighter' 4:09 to 4:11

    haha

  • You have one of the better reviews on you tube.. I found out what I needed about it... You shouldn't leave the camera turned up when the lens is off though.. Can you please let me know what is your choice lens for macro

  • I'm planning to have one like it

it's a very nice les very sharp and got a nice aperture.

It will help me alot in wedding photography

  • i guess your parents should cut your pocket money... incredible how you can afford all this stuff in that age

  • sorry but your voice annoys me

  • @Scyfo

    and shot weddings

  • have you ever thought about going outside and kicking a ball

  • aaaah!! You left the sensor without a cover!! nooooo!

  • Is it just me, or is everybody as anal as me about getting dust in your lens/mirror/sensor? Seeing the way he just takes the lenses on and off, not caring, makes me worried, haha.

  • Great lens, breaks easy. I went through 3 of them in less than 6 months. I am a glamour photographer and we usually go in the wild.

  • Va chez le coiffeur et laisse ces outils pour les grands!

  • Noob!

  • AAAGHH stop blowing on the glass so much, just stop taking the cap off and orienting it upright, no need to blow on it and cover it with spit.

  • @hcoll , i agree.... stop blowing on the glass!!!....

  • Camera cap?

  • I just bought one because of this review and its a great lens

  • what does the hood do for it?

  • @StevenRHaz It helps to stop surrounding light from getting into the lens, such as sunlight which may produce sun glare.

  • pretty good review. thanks!

  • i love it, just got mine for like 45 bucks, its such a good lens

  • where from?

  • ebay, i just searched it under buy it now, there are tons for bid though

  • $45?? Where did you get it for that price dude?

  • ebay, its great, just bid and u can get it cheap

  • these are all over ebay for like 20-40 bucks

  • @SmpleFilms didn't find any...got for 89$,new

  • Fidgety as all hell. Stop taking off the lens and the filters, especially when your leaving the body without the cap on it.

  • good review, but you american accent annoys the hell out of me

  • well, he kind of has a nasally voice and a southern accent.. that isn't how all americans sound..

  • You mean his Southern accent.

  • it's a gay ass accent

  • Is this lens compatible with my Rebel XSi?

  • Completely.

  • @louiseximarc24 yes....its the same as a 450D

  • @louiseximarc24 Yes, it is.-

  • @louiseximarc24 Its compatible with EVERY CANON DSLR

  • hey! great review i was wondering if you knew of any sites that would offer cheaper prices on the 50mm cuz at b and h its like 100 and i cant find it cheaper, thanx!

  • 100 is def. the cheapest you'll find

  • yup

  • awesome review thanks it was a big help.

  • I wish I have that lens. I just need to save some money. But hey, which one is better, 50mm f/1.4 or 50mm f/1.8 II ? Still don't get the difference.

    Thank you!

    Lala Keynes

  • Its best to get a feel for standard with the Canon 50mm f/1.8 MK II

  • The 1.4 is better due the smaller aperture value. More lightsensitive, better depth of field, better build quality. Yet, the 1.8 II is in price/quality comparision awesome and delivers fine images.

  • the 50mm f/1.4 is better, but for the price, you cant beat the 1.8. The 1.4 has a even shallow-er depth of field. But honestly, if you didnt understand what the difference was, then the 1.8II is best for you. Good luck!

  • @chippie129 1.4 is better.

  • @chippie129 1.4 all the way! the 1.8 looks and feels like a toy..

  • Thanks for the review. Myself I was going forth and back between the Sigma 1.4, the Canon 1.4 and the 1.8. My final decision is to get the 1.8 - here in Germany you pay 109€ in a store. My decision is based on mainly 2 aspects: First of all we all know it's cheaper than any other lens. Using the Eos450d (rebel) - a truely very light camera - it makes sense to keep on the light side being able to take the camera always withe me - rather than not taking any pics cuz the camery was 2 heavy 2 take

  • You have made a very well-rounded decision.

    Nice choice!

  • omg, how much dust is getting inside that body.... :( makes me sob

  • @phOnyUK i feel your pain!

  • im going to buy this one soon ,,, took some sample pictures its awesome , is there any other great lens around with same price range ?? im a newbie ,, still trying my luck with diffrenet moods as TV< M<P<AV ... just need some help with differnet modes ???

  • It might be better for you to send me a message explaining what areas I can help you with. I'd be glad to help you :)

  • thanks , it just i need help with modes , like which setting modes gave what results , or wht settings shuld i have on modes like P , AV, TV , M to get the best results .?

  • I am getting the 50mm f/1.4 in a few months. Although, the 50mm f/1.8 is still a great lens. ITs really a personal judgement call. Its all up to you. Maybe get the 50mm f/1.8 to start though...

  • gimme your lens and yer camera! lol

    thanks for the review son!

  • Sorry:(

    Thanks!

  • Get a hair cut.

But awesome review, I've got a 30D as well, love this lens. :)

  • dnt blow your filter boy... kids these days...*shakes head*

  • Yeah, half of this video was spent blowing filters and lenses.

  • Not a bad review by the way.

Try not to guess on lens details; if you want to know how long it is...look it up or measure it.

I fail to see why you compared apertures, which is moot between different lenses and lens types.

Overall though, pretty good. Keep it up kid!

  • hes just tellings us about the lense its not going on tv or something chill out bitch

  • Exactly :D

  • Comment removed

  • he said manual focus override.

  • You are SO right!!!!

    My bad!!!! Doh!

  • Nice review mate, I just got a 40D and I almost do landscape photographs. I'm really thinking of getting a 50 1.8 but on my 1,6 crop cam, it will probably too long. So what do you think about the EF 35mm 2.0 or EF 20mm 2.8 USM ??

PS: I just went to you flickr page and you really rock!

  • Thanks.

Well, for a good prime landscape lens, it all really depends on the conditions you are going to be shooting in. If it's going to be real low light, then look at the 35mm f/2 and the 20mm f/2.8

Quite honestly though, I am planning on shooting landscapes with a 40D and a Canon 17-40mm f/4L USM

  • nice review! this kid has potential! check out his flickr page. I was blown away!

  • Thanks man! I try to get people to look at my flickr page, I guess they just don't wanna be proven wrong :(

  • egoists!!!!

  • you always whine about the lens construction, blah blah its PLASTIC! this blah blah is PLASTIC! the lens is super cheap and a good performer ( although nikon 50mm version is way better ) so stop complaining, i dont wanna hear the word plastic!

  • Plastic.

Technically, you read the word and heard it in your head. :D

  • canon shud have continued with the 50mm f.8 mk I with the metal mount. if they had to make a mk II, they shud have redesigned the optics and yeah put more blades for a better bokeh. and maybe charged 100$ instead of 80...

  • Well, if you don't wanna hear the word plastic, don't watch me videos! IF you expect to watch my videos and get a thorough review of the lens, I think I should maybe tell what the construction consists of!

    Thank you!

  • what is the model of the lens hood for the 18-55mm?

  • Canon EW-60C

  • Show some pictures you moron/ spoiled brat!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • "y'know, 70 bucks for diiss.."

haha, I like your voice :D

    But good review, thanks.

  • lol i like your commitment and enthusiasm.

  • The HD adapter does not give this lense HD quality.

  • got any photos with that lens? how wide is it

  • Nice videos

  • Thanks! The is the type of comment I love!!

  • Then you should make good videos!

  • 3:37 It's not minimum aperture; it's the smallest f-number. It's defined as the largest aperture.

  • It misses a lot! The autofocus i mean. It's not the sharpest lens either. The sweet spot of this lens is around f/2.8, it's considerably sharper.

  • WIN. HAHAHA

  • A.J. I honestly love what you've done so far and the positive attitude you have.

I'll love for my nephew to be has talented with a camera has he is with his darn xbox :)

    Keep those videos coming.

PS. I checked your photos in flckr and great photos I must say.

  • the 50d and the 1.8 is an exellant combination

  • i have a 300D canon. can i still get sharp images with the 50mm f/1.8 II even with such an old dslr model?

  • sure! I have a 350d and a 85 f/1.8 and my pictures are as sharp as hell...

you don't need a better camera for sharper images. :)

  • well i think that was a nice review. good on ya. im saving up for the 10-22mm canon lens at the moment, currently got the 28-105 f3.5 lens, the 18-85mm and the 55-200mm lens.

  • Forget the 10-22. Look at the Tokina 12-24mm f/4 lens and the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 lenses.

  • The Canon 10-22mm is one of the best wide-angle lenses for an APS-C Canon DSLR.

  • well, one of the best it may be, but I can only assure you with the utmost amount of certainty that the canon is not worth it s price tag. stokey26, look into the tokina lens that i told you of, they're better price wise for the same quality lens. the only difference is that they don't say canon.

  • Well, I wouldn't get the 12-24mm f/4 it's too slow. Get the 11-16 f/2.8, it's probably the best wide-angle available.

  • I'm getting the 11-16mm f/2.8 tokina for a new york trip I'm taking in May. we'll put it to the test there :)

Also, on these past few comments, I didn't mean for you to take any offense if you did :(

  • I got the 1.4 version for christmas, I'll do a review on it in a few days i think

The Tokina 11-16 is a great lens, i had it but i sold it again for the 70-200 f/4

I'll buy it again in two weeks when i got my money

    nice review btw

  • Oh my.... I don't even dare to put my XTi on my bed without body cap and you do it without cap on a 30D!!! Camera Cruelty!!!

And uh, I had never heard that Canon released a Black Teleconverter??? It's just a plastic tube that extends the BFS of lens to minimize the minimum focus distant..

  • i didn't know the mount was plastic. Thanks for the info

  • get a new hear cut

  • What the heck? a hair cut? psssshhhh..... yeah right! i rarely get hair cuts! and you sound like my mom!

  • I strongly agree with asser201. :D

  • are you going to pay for it otherwise dont bug people

  • im confused...

  • I would, really. however, I am getting the 50mm f/1.4 USM II lens w/ hood hopefully soon.

  • you should get a lens hood for the 50mm...

  • You can just see all the dust in that room going YIPPEEEEEEEE A SENSOR!!! from 2:20- 2:35

    :)

  • I hate when that happens :(

  • This guy kills me!!!...Plaastic Plaastic Plaastic!!! This PRIME lens was made to create an affordable alternative to the 1.4 USM etc, but who says the build quality was a problem when you really see great results. And can I just say...PLAAAAAASTIC :P

  • Ahhhhh, You are making the very basic mistakes!!!

First you don't leave the camera body open and upside down! I can just imagine how much crap has got in there :(

Second you are basically putting your finger prints all over your glass!

You don't change lenses with the body positioned upward....

  • veeery sharp lens

    great for the price

  • what you mean ' manual focus override ' ?

  • Sometimes it's called Full Time Manual Focus. If the lens has it, you can grab the focus ring anytime and the autofocus won't try to fight you. Otherwise you'll have to disable autofocus beforehand.

  • Nice work dude, keep it up!

  • Nice Vid. Thanks

  • I like your methodology.

  • you actually left your slr without any body cap to prevent unwanted particles from entering your sensor.

  • Its EOS.

    Not E-O-S.

    Its plastic coz its cheaper.

And you dont need to use UV filters.

The camera's sensor has a UV protector over it anyway.

    And yes.

Stop blowing on your gear. You'll get spit in it.

    And talk clearer.

  • Ir's EOS or E-O-S

    I know why its plastic.

The UV filter is for the lens, not the sensor idiot.

I have NEVER gotten spit in or on my gear, but thanks for your concern :)

Also, I am sorry that I can't talk clearer :(

  • would you recommend a non-canon flash if i'm on a tight budget?

  • Well...I have had 2 in the past...have never had a good experience...I'd wait until I could get the Canon 430EX...it's like $180 now that the 430EXII has come out.

  • you really...REALLY need to stop blowing on your gear like that....

  • Get the 85mm f/1.2 :P

  • You said the 50mm is slower than the 18-55mm. If the aperture at 1.8 at 1/10 and gives you a more over exposed image than f5.6 at 1/10, then the 50mm is faster than the 18-55mm. It is faster because to have an equivalent exposure with both lenses, the 50mm f1.8 has to have a faster shutter speed than the 18-55 f5.6.

Btw.. you sure talk about all your equipment a lot. You should do some videos about your actual work. Your website does not have many images. I would love to see the images you make

  • the 50mm is faster... not slower...

  • are you talkin with focusing, or apereture?

  • where do u git these cameraS?

  • i am in the works of a ten miniute "Photo Teens Work" video. it should be on in 72 hours.

  • Oh, are you going to interview other teen photographers? I would certainly accept an invitation, to talk about how I take photos for 100% of my Income.

  • Sure, if we can work it out, i want teens in photography to be heard, even kids if there are any. So, like I said, if we can work it out, than sure I would truly be honored.

    Regards,

    A.J.

  • Alright then, when would you like to set up an Interview? Also do you have Skype, or would you rather do it over the phone?

    Thanks,

    Brady O'Brien
