Senna forced too much Prost never had to go the limit to win. Prost had a cleaner style of riding and never got involved in serious accidents in his career. When Prost retired, Senna was without a parameter and was no longer the same, Prost never needed parameters.
@l0dgey A great point. For me Mansell was everybit as good as both Senna and Prost. Infact, if I'm honest, I much preferred watching Senna Vs Mansell then Senna Vs Prost. @PwnUrBadCock Yeah like in Silverstone 2011, where Webber could have taken Vettel. Then Christian Horner says that Webber should back down... Webber should have taken Vettel!

@thehitchrules I was just saying to everybody that we can't say that Prost > Senna or Senna > Prost. When you have many world titles, it means that you are a great driver anyway. Moreover, they got their world titles against other great drivers (Lauda, Rosberg, Piquet, Mansell etc...) that were very talented too, it shows their talent. Personally I love both drivers :)
Senna was the greatest and his rivalry with prost is legendary. However, and this is just persona opinion, I much preferred his battles with mansell in 91+92. My 2 favourite drivers going toe to toe.
at the end on the last clip, the cars wing display its numbers. 1 for senna, and two for prost. how fitting how the numbers match the two best f1 drivers the world will EVER see.
@TheWeedisgoodforyou I agree with you abou Senna. However, Prost, for me, was overrated. His first 2 world championships were undoubtably brilliant. Hoever, his 89 & 93 titles should be viewed with much specticism. In 89 he ran Senna off the track & then had him disqualified when he got back in the race. In 93 he was only at Williams due to his relationship with Renault & the fact that he forced Mansell out of the team so he could jump straight into a winning car.
beside prost vs senna one of the last best rivalry between f1 pilots was schumacher vs hakkinen and maybe someday somehow vettel vs hamilton could bring it.
You wil kick me, but I personally prefer Prost, he was smarter than Senna, but yeah! Ayrton was awesome!! really!! and also the best F1 rivalry ever, when senna died, we saw the end of real f1. But now, we can see the reborn, with Alonso and Hamilton as the new big rivlary and with the excelent talents of, Vettel,, Kubica, Massa, Webber, Rosberg, Kobayashi etc..
@cefigar I disagree with you for 1 simple reason. Most of Prost's "work" was done in the offices of Balestre & his pitlane politics were legendary. Don't get me wrong, his first 2 world titles were fantastic but in 89 & 93 his title wins were very hollow. Also, his whingeing & double crossing got him sacked from ferrari but not before he had forced Mansell out of the team. Also, remember Prost was the reason why Mansell left F1 at the end of 92.
There will never again be a rivalry like prost and senna.
Such fierce and unforgiving competitors on the track, yet such good friends off the track, not like the fake friendships I think some drivers try to give these days just for the camera. I don't for a minute believe button and hamilton like each other, and it's obvious webber and vetterl don't like each other.
@shoeme69 ok whatever i know very little and you are just a blind guy.. and that's why you can't actually see the mess in f1 today and also the actual anus that exist in your face... settled!
@shoeme69 i know very little???? do you remember ever seeing a battle like prost-senna in the four -way battle in 2010???? with the rules forbidding to the defendant to change lines second time in an overtake and others like one tank of fuel and much much more?????? are you fucking kidding me??? just because it was more widely known last year doesn't make it interesting. the last good battle was hakinnen-schumacher.. not even schumacher-alonso.. now it's just like watching karts...
I love formula one because of that period of time. I've been back into it for a couple of years which coincidently is the same amount of time MS has been gone. Last season was amazing... too bad Weber didn't win.
One thing i don't understand though, Senna smashed Prost off the road on the final race of the season on the first corner to ensure that he won the championship and no-one gave a damn, then when Schumi did similar to Hill there was uproar, why?
@CrazyJPWKong Ayrton is god, Michael, is just Michael. Take it as greek mytologi. Shumi is the hero, bu Ayrton is god and he's in the Mount Olympus with others legendaries race drivers.
TOTALY agree with you my friend.. today isn't even worth watching any more.. it's plain boring.. i wasn't lucky enough to have watched senna.. i was just too young, but i catch schumi vs hakkinen which was as entertaining despite the fact that schumi was team helped some times..
@nem1908 Thanks to Bernie, most of the trackers aren't even for overtaking anymore, just giving bernie money every year, e.g. singapore/valencia/abu dhabi.
Good game no more refueling and over the top downforce. Btw did i mention KERS coming back in 2011?
Schumacher was to Senna what Senna was to Prost. The sad thing is we never got to see Senna fight a younger, hungrier driver. Senna's death in 1994 was what it would have been like if Prost had died at the start of the 1988 season.
@beeDUB75 I totally disagree with you.my opinion is that senna didn't worry so much about schumachers abilities but for benettons traction control and cheating....now on senna-prost battle senna came to honda and clearly was faster than prost so prost knew that senna was better than him.the only place prost could beat senna was in press conference not in the track! and 1989 what a joke! senna finished 7 races with 6 wins and 1second behind mansell!politics and people with power gave prost a gift
(sigh) yes I've heard the popcorn version of F1 history before - "Benetton were cheating" yet the FIA with all their resources couldn't find anything, "Senna was faster than Prost" (at Honda?) Disagree if you must, just watch the 92 & 93 seasons when Schumi & Senna were crossing swords and tell me he wasn't worried about Schumacher's pace. My point still is, we never got to see Senna truly fight for a title with a younger hungrier driver, that was about to change in 94 but sadly we lost that.
@beeDUB75 i agree that we lost the best battle after what happend in 1994 but i'm telling you that schumacher was fast, talented but not at sennas level and of course senna knew that.i know that you won't believe me so you can search a prosts interview where he says "he didn't care about anyone else not even about schumacher, sennas girlfriend also andrianne says that he used to talk about many things of f1 but he wasn't talking about schumacher.
Love the move at suzuka at 3:26, the wobbly heli cam gives it a bit of extra atmosphere, brill. Nowadays everything is too good no feel or atmosphere or at least not as much as the 80's.
The hell with Schumi, Prost and Senna took the race to a whole other level during the golden years of F1. It was SO intense. I still remember the sunday
afternoons when the whole family would gather just to watch the grand prix... now who would do that ? Prost and Senna were much like the opposite sides of the same coin. You could even feel their personality just by watching them on the track and comparing their driving styles. The best era, the best drivers, the best story !
Prost and Senna were on a completely different level even to drivers like Mansell, Piquet and Berger, they might as well have had their own racing series as they were too good.
i feel so fucking bad i could never see those 2 great drivers... i think i have watched every single video of them in youtube but still i would love to watch them live and feel the whole tension...
a lot of bullshit talk about how schumacher had the best car. hiow do you think it became the best car? schumacher made it the best car. do you guys think senna had a piece of shit when he was winning? No of course not the mclaren he and prost had was miles better than anything else on the grid, i still remember a young schumacher pressurising senna not long before he died would have been great to see them race, and all who say senna was too old then just lookt at schumi. 41 and stii has it
@rneoman In 1994 Schumacher's Benetton was in breach of FIA regulations. They were using Launch Control & traction control which was banned. Despite this Hill very nearly won the world title. Only Schumacher's blatent cheating denied Hill the title. Also, Schumacher's career would have been very different had Senna lived. For example, Senna already had an agreement with Ferrari to drive for them in 96. As it was Senna died, Schumacher took the 96 seat at Ferrari & the rest is history.
The bottom line is if Schumi raced against the big boys of the 1980's at their peaks, Senna, Prost, Lauda, Piquet, Mansell, Patrese, Berger, Rosberg just to name a few, then he would not have 7 World Championship titles.
Yeah he's a good driver but lets face it, he had a lucky period of racing mediocre drivers, Hakkinen, Barichello, Coulthard, Villeneuve, Hill and Alonso can't really be compared to the 1980's drivers.
I agree with most of what you said but I don't think it is fair to describe Hakkinen as mediocre. Afterall it was Schumacher himself who said that hakkinen was the only driver who ever really worried him. It is also interesting to think about How diferent Schumi's career would have been had Senna lived. Senna woould almost certainly have won world titles in 94 & 95. Senna also had an agreement to drive with Ferrari from 1996. And who ended up taking that drive? Fodd for thought
@dojOdRiFTeR Oh dear, yet another individual who can't make their point withour reverting to swearing & childish insults. And, for the record, you are wrong. San Marino was the 3rd Grand Prix of the season. Therefore Senna was only down by 20 pts. Which, in 94 was the equivalent to just 2 wins. I suggest, before you start swearing & insulting people, you actually check your facts.
@chrismarkbicknell senna had 65poles yet 41 wins he sucks period overrated out of this world poles doesn't equate to race wins schumacher was just too dam good and fast thats y we hate him he has more wins than senna and prost combined
@chrismarkbicknell senna was down by 40pts u moron senna couldn't handle pressure in 92 and 93 schumacher kicked his ass with a slowerr car in rain schumacher hands down the best driver senna wasn't a saint in driving prost was clean senna drove reckless thougha dam good driver and very entertaining he is not better than schumacher and i hate schumacher and senna is my fav driver but give cred where credit is due schumi is #1
@dojOdRiFTeR No, he wasn't Imola was only the 3rd GP of the season. It was impossible for him to be more than 20 points down in 1994. Also, in 92 and 93 Senna's McLaren was nowhere near the pace. Some of the drives that Senna produced in 93 were sublime. Look at Donington (European GP) & Brazil for clarification. As for 92 just look at the Monaco GP for what Senna could really do. It's clear you actually know very little about the subject on which you are commenting,
@chrismarkbicknell YOUR TALKING OUT OF YOUR REAR LOOK UP ALL THE STATS SENNA MADE BERGER 2ND DRIVER DON'T ACT LIEK HE DIDN;T BUT PROST DIDN;T BACK DOWN
Just look up the 1994 World championship season and that will prove my point
All the stats from the 1994 F1 World Championship are me. As you will see for yourself San Marino was the 3rd GP of the season. Therefore, Schumacher could only have been and was 20 points clear of Senna. As for your second point, I am not disputing that Senna ensured his place as no.1 in the team but so did Mansell, Prost, Schumacher, Alonso, Piquet, Hakkinen and Hill to name but a few.
Prost-Senna is hands down the greatest rivalry between any two drivers of all time. Nobody comes even close. They were absolutely bitter enemies. Their fighting one another is what pushed them to become better drivers. Their gained mutual hatred brought them to the podium year after year. They dominated.
Eventually, they realized how entwined their careers were to one another. and realized how good of friends they were underneath it all... Prost was a pallbearer at Sennas funeral. RIP Senna
senna prost schumacher fangio r in my opinion the 3 greatest drivers bar none then i would say kimi or alonso hakkinen is god but lets be real schumacher is better dirver than him remember manchiran gp 1990 schumacher vs mika
I think it's the mindset from the 80's that we just cant match it anymore, senna, prost, piquet, mansell, they were lions, would go to extremes in order to win, and forget about teamplay, it was every man for himself, things started off bad when we lost gilles, cause he was another ballsy, althou he won no championships i would rank him with those 4, to push to extremes today is one thing, but to do it back when the F1 cars were still racing coffins, that was insane.
there was no better time in F1 than the years of Mansell, Piquet, Prost and Senna. 86-90. Although Senna had a poor car until joined Mclaren, Piquet good car until left Williams, Prost only in Mclaren; those years and disputes were great. I admire Schumacher, but I would(from the verb I´ll not) like to see him wild with those lions...
The sheer exitement of watching F1 in those days... it was unreal. In my house, my dad was with Prost and I was with Senna, making each race into a veritable family feud :)
The standard and quality of drivers was off the chart. I didnt realise back then what an exceptional time it was. Then, after 1994, I realised how lucky I had been to experience all that.
I think, we hadn't the luck to see a nearly equal talented driver to battle Schumi after Senna's death. Hill, Villeneuve, Hakkinen - they where really good but not to compare to legends like Senna, Prost, Piquet, Mansell. And they were challengers just for a few years, not in a whole era. Apart from this, the Ferrari beat the pants off the other cars for a long time and also if there hadn't been a team-order, Irvine and Barrichello wouldn't have been good enough to challenge Schumi.
no lol sschumacher was better than senna 1993 inferior car beats the cmclaren senna was gd qualifier prost was the better racer the race is what matters not the pole positions
still no excuses look at schumacher 1996-1999 innferior car and was a fore runner for each year you need to watch f1 your probably a hamilton fan converted into f1 f1 circa 2007
@dojOdRiFTeR You're an idiot. Ferrari was an inferior car in 1996, and 1996 only. That year he only won 1 race and had 7 DNFs. You clearly don't know anything about the history of the sport, so I will no longer dignify your moronic drivel with a response. Senna was the best ever, Period. The only time Senna had the best equipment was when he was with McLaren from 1988-1991 and the races he drove for Williams Renault leading up to his death in 1994.
Your post is just as idiotic. The williams was faster than Ferrari in 96-97, and mclaren was faster in 98-99. Yet Schumi almost beat Villeneuve in 97. In 1996 Schumi won 3 races, not 1, learn your facts before posting. In 1998 he almost beat Hakkinen in that dominant mclaren that Hakkinen was driving.
@dojOdRiFTeR And as far as Schumacher goes, the only years he did NOT have top-level equipment was 1992-1993 with Benneton and his first year with Ferrari in 1996.
@dojOdRiFTeR are we talking about the same Ferrari of 1999 when Irvine did not get the title for 2 points?this inferior car?Ferrari was never inferior just unreliable, until they hired Osamu Goto in 1994 Hondas chief engineer, by 1997 when he left the team Ferrari had the most reliable engine ever built.. Schumacher had no more than 4 engine failures in Ferrari and 5 in his carrier, 5 failures in 16 years,(Senna had more in each of his years) thats the real record and it was not his achievment
Are you fucking serious? Do you really think the ferraris from 96-97 were championship contenders? Irvine got 34 points compared to Schumi's 131 in both years put together. Shows Schumi's skills. Even in 98 the mclarens were dominant. In 99 Schumi broke his leg, remember?
@Anime998877 Irvine came out publicly stating that he was told to allow schumacher passed him at all times and to hold the other drivers where possible.Irvine did this for more than one season and then would not follow team orders and nearly won the title. The following year they replaced him with Rubens!!
Well then since Schumacher was ahead of Irvine in almost every race, I don't think that matters too much. Irvine nearly won the 99 title because he inherited 4 free victories. The mclarens died in Australia while leading, Hakkinen collided with Coulthard in Austria, Irvine had his team mate Mika Salo who was still new to ferrari outqualify him in Germany (lol). And in the race Salo had to let Irvine through for the championship. And in Sepang Schumi let Irvine pass for the win.

@Anime998877 Irvine was a sacrificial lamb as far as Ferrari were concerned.Schumacher would be given the best setup fuel load to get out ahead at the start. It was Irvine's job as he made clear himself to hold the field.Irvine was just as fast in hi final year at Ferrari. Rubens carried on the doing the same.
For fuck's sake - I understand your point but Irvine had 100 less points than Schumi in both years put together. Do you actually think he could lose that much from team orders? Ridiculous!!! Irvine almost managed to beat Hakkinen in 99 because of inherited victories and I will bet absolutely everything I have that Schumi would have won the 99 championship if he didn't break his leg. Rubens actually scored some deserved wins in that ferrari, Irvine just sucked.
@Anime998877 Irvine was beaten because the pit crew mysteriously !! took over 14 seconds instead of 7 seconds for a pit stop. Also the Ferrari mysteriously lost performance when the chassis suddenly lost performance and went from the best car to the worst car on the grid for two or three races. It was obvious that people loyal to Schumacher messed with the car.
That is ridiculous. In that case why did ferrari make Salo let Irvine through in Hockenheim? Or why did Schumi concede his position to Irvine in Sepang? Ferrari wanted a champion, and it didn't have to be Michael. The only reason Irvine was even in contention for the championship was because of the Mclaren's reliability issues and Irvine's slave team mate - who by the way outqualified Irvine in only their second race together and through a victory away for him.
@Anime998877 Schumacher had the winning of the title in his hands for Irvine on the last race of the season.Schumacher obtained pole position and needed to win the race providing Irvine scored a few points.I knew Schumacher would not allow this and I was proven correct at that time when I said he would loose on purpose. He did by spinning the wheels at the start.
What the hell are you talking about? Schumi was mathematically OUT of the championship in sepang. The only ones in were Irvine and Hakkinen. So Schumi needed to support Eddie for the championship and so let him through to win the race.
@irishguy200007 Scumacher supporting Irvine are you serious.Schumacher finished second and never allowed Irvine passed.Schumacher could have got out in front and let Irvine past but no way.I don't think any driver should allow their team mate passed because the team tells him to.
Furthermore - Irvine had ZERO pole positions in ferrari compared to Schumi's 13. Schumi had 16 wins to Irvine's 4. The following year Irvine left ferrari, ferrari didn't sack him. Besides - I think ferrari caught a break there, Rubens was waay better!
@Anime998877 Senna has 65 pole positions and if he lived you can bet on whatever currency he would have added at least another 25 over the next 4 or 5 years with Williams.Nobody compares.
ok, I have to say I don't like Schumi very much and he was a good driver; but in my opinion the greatest rivalry in F1 history was Senna-Prost (as you can see in this great video), no Senna-Schummi; when Senna died it was the end of the best and most exciting F1 era... Shummi had Barichello for many years as second driver in Ferrari helping him to get the titles and it wasn't good for this sport as entertainment. That's why I prefer Senna and Prost even though Schumacher's got all the records.
@alejandrinus exactly, when senna died, we saw the end of real f1. But now, we can see the reborn, with alonso, vettel, hamilton, kubica, massa, webber, rosberg, etc...
While I admit that Senna vs Prost were theee best battles in F1 history, I dont agree that you think F1 is "lame" now. I still find F1 fun and enjoyable to watch. I was, and will ALWAYS be a Formula 1 fan
Dude thats bound to happen in a series that the teams design and create their own cars. There will always be a team that did their homework more than others and will dominate the season. Look at the history of F1, and there has been plenty of teams and drivers that dominated the season going all the way back to the times of Fangio, Ascari, and Moss. I dont get why fans complain of domination in F1, when its history is littered with it. Deal with it.
You should review all the F1 videos in Youtube, fans always remember the good seasons, when the races are interesting and more than one team fights for the championship, nobody well-known for example the Schumacher in Ferrari's championships, when he ran alone in the first place every sunday, now is happening the same with Brawn.
I am sure that the Brawn F1 car, was a concept developed from the Ferrari Ross Brawn's knowledge, so now he is only making the same schedule like in Ferrari.
Senna always ahead

Also, his whingeing & double crossing got him sacked from ferrari but not before he had forced Mansell out of the team. Also, remember Prost was the reason why Mansell left F1 at the end of 92.

Such fierce and unforgiving competitors on the track, yet such good friends off the track, not like the fake friendships I think some drivers try to give these days just for the camera. I don't for a minute believe button and hamilton like each other, and it's obvious webber and vetterl don't like each other.
I wish I was around to enjoy F1 in those days :(

Amazing drivers! Amazing Racing!
One thing i don't understand though, Senna smashed Prost off the road on the final race of the season on the first corner to ensure that he won the championship and no-one gave a damn, then when Schumi did similar to Hill there was uproar, why?

Schumacher was to Senna what Senna was to Prost. The sad thing is we never got to see Senna fight a younger, hungrier driver. Senna's death in 1994 was what it would have been like if Prost had died at the start of the 1988 season.
beeDUB75 1 year ago
@beeDUB75 I totally disagree with you.my opinion is that senna didn't worry so much about schumachers abilities but for benettons traction control and cheating....now on senna-prost battle senna came to honda and clearly was faster than prost so prost knew that senna was better than him.the only place prost could beat senna was in press conference not in the track! and 1989 what a joke! senna finished 7 races with 6 wins and 1second behind mansell!politics and people with power gave prost a gift
lefgeo 1 year ago
(sigh) yes I've heard the popcorn version of F1 history before - "Benetton were cheating" yet the FIA with all their resources couldn't find anything, "Senna was faster than Prost" (at Honda?) Disagree if you must, just watch the 92 & 93 seasons when Schumi & Senna were crossing swords and tell me he wasn't worried about Schumacher's pace. My point still is, we never got to see Senna truly fight for a title with a younger hungrier driver, that was about to change in 94 but sadly we lost that.
beeDUB75 1 year ago
@beeDUB75 i agree that we lost the best battle after what happend in 1994 but i'm telling you that schumacher was fast, talented but not at sennas level and of course senna knew that.i know that you won't believe me so you can search a prosts interview where he says "he didn't care about anyone else not even about schumacher, sennas girlfriend also andrianne says that he used to talk about many things of f1 but he wasn't talking about schumacher.

The best era, the best drivers, the best story !

a lot of bullshit talk about how schumacher had the best car. hiow do you think it became the best car? schumacher made it the best car. do you guys think senna had a piece of shit when he was winning? No of course not the mclaren he and prost had was miles better than anything else on the grid, i still remember a young schumacher pressurising senna not long before he died would have been great to see them race, and all who say senna was too old then just lookt at schumi. 41 and stii has it
rneoman 1 year ago
@rneoman In 1994 Schumacher's Benetton was in breach of FIA regulations. They were using Launch Control & traction control which was banned. Despite this Hill very nearly won the world title. Only Schumacher's blatent cheating denied Hill the title. Also, Schumacher's career would have been very different had Senna lived. For example, Senna already had an agreement with Ferrari to drive for them in 96. As it was Senna died, Schumacher took the 96 seat at Ferrari & the rest is history.
chrismarkbicknell 3 months ago
The bottom line is if Schumi raced against the big boys of the 1980's at their peaks, Senna, Prost, Lauda, Piquet, Mansell, Patrese, Berger, Rosberg just to name a few, then he would not have 7 World Championship titles.
Yeah he's a good driver but lets face it, he had a lucky period of racing mediocre drivers, Hakkinen, Barichello, Coulthard, Villeneuve, Hill and Alonso can't really be compared to the 1980's drivers.
Senna/Prost forever!x
ayrtonsennapole 1 year ago
I agree with most of what you said but I don't think it is fair to describe Hakkinen as mediocre. Afterall it was Schumacher himself who said that hakkinen was the only driver who ever really worried him. It is also interesting to think about How diferent Schumi's career would have been had Senna lived. Senna woould almost certainly have won world titles in 94 & 95. Senna also had an agreement to drive with Ferrari from 1996. And who ended up taking that drive? Fodd for thought
chrismarkbicknell 3 months ago
@chrismarkbicknell r u dumb as fuck in 94 senna was already down by 40 pts u people don;t know shit in f1 but i reckon senna would have won 96
dojOdRiFTeR 3 months ago
@dojOdRiFTeR Oh dear, yet another individual who can't make their point withour reverting to swearing & childish insults. And, for the record, you are wrong. San Marino was the 3rd Grand Prix of the season. Therefore Senna was only down by 20 pts. Which, in 94 was the equivalent to just 2 wins. I suggest, before you start swearing & insulting people, you actually check your facts.
chrismarkbicknell 3 months ago
@chrismarkbicknell senna had 65poles yet 41 wins he sucks period overrated out of this world poles doesn't equate to race wins schumacher was just too dam good and fast thats y we hate him he has more wins than senna and prost combined

@chrismarkbicknell senna was down by 40pts u moron senna couldn't handle pressure in 92 and 93 schumacher kicked his ass with a slowerr car in rain schumacher hands down the best driver senna wasn't a saint in driving prost was clean senna drove reckless thougha dam good driver and very entertaining he is not better than schumacher and i hate schumacher and senna is my fav driver but give cred where credit is due schumi is #1
dojOdRiFTeR 3 months ago
@dojOdRiFTeR No, he wasn't Imola was only the 3rd GP of the season. It was impossible for him to be more than 20 points down in 1994. Also, in 92 and 93 Senna's McLaren was nowhere near the pace. Some of the drives that Senna produced in 93 were sublime. Look at Donington (European GP) & Brazil for clarification. As for 92 just look at the Monaco GP for what Senna could really do. It's clear you actually know very little about the subject on which you are commenting,
chrismarkbicknell 3 months ago
@chrismarkbicknell YOUR TALKING OUT OF YOUR REAR LOOK UP ALL THE STATS SENNA MADE BERGER 2ND DRIVER DON'T ACT LIEK HE DIDN;T BUT PROST DIDN;T BACK DOWN
dojOdRiFTeR 3 months ago
Just look up the 1994 World championship season and that will prove my point
All the stats from the 1994 F1 World Championship are me. As you will see for yourself San Marino was the 3rd GP of the season. Therefore, Schumacher could only have been and was 20 points clear of Senna. As for your second point, I am not disputing that Senna ensured his place as no.1 in the team but so did Mansell, Prost, Schumacher, Alonso, Piquet, Hakkinen and Hill to name but a few.
chrismarkbicknell 3 months ago
Prost-Senna is hands down the greatest rivalry between any two drivers of all time. Nobody comes even close. They were absolutely bitter enemies. Their fighting one another is what pushed them to become better drivers. Their gained mutual hatred brought them to the podium year after year. They dominated.
Eventually, they realized how entwined their careers were to one another. and realized how good of friends they were underneath it all... Prost was a pallbearer at Sennas funeral. RIP Senna

Both are insane better drivers than Alonso.
And Schumacher and hakkinen can't even think to be part of the same league as Lauda, Piquet, Fittipaldi, Stewart, Prost or Mansell.
Senna, Moss and Fangio are in a league of their own.

I think it's the mindset from the 80's that we just cant match it anymore, senna, prost, piquet, mansell, they were lions, would go to extremes in order to win, and forget about teamplay, it was every man for himself, things started off bad when we lost gilles, cause he was another ballsy, althou he won no championships i would rank him with those 4, to push to extremes today is one thing, but to do it back when the F1 cars were still racing coffins, that was insane.
nrvanasobeamstel 2 years ago 2
there was no better time in F1 than the years of Mansell, Piquet, Prost and Senna. 86-90. Although Senna had a poor car until joined Mclaren, Piquet good car until left Williams, Prost only in Mclaren; those years and disputes were great. I admire Schumacher, but I would(from the verb I´ll not) like to see him wild with those lions...

I totally agree.
The sheer exitement of watching F1 in those days... it was unreal. In my house, my dad was with Prost and I was with Senna, making each race into a veritable family feud :)
The standard and quality of drivers was off the chart. I didnt realise back then what an exceptional time it was. Then, after 1994, I realised how lucky I had been to experience all that.
alin1975 2 years ago 32
I think, we hadn't the luck to see a nearly equal talented driver to battle Schumi after Senna's death. Hill, Villeneuve, Hakkinen - they where really good but not to compare to legends like Senna, Prost, Piquet, Mansell. And they were challengers just for a few years, not in a whole era. Apart from this, the Ferrari beat the pants off the other cars for a long time and also if there hadn't been a team-order, Irvine and Barrichello wouldn't have been good enough to challenge Schumi.

AdamJLemon 1 year ago
@AdamJLemon
Anime998877 1 year ago
@dojOdRiFTeR And as far as Schumacher goes, the only years he did NOT have top-level equipment was 1992-1993 with Benneton and his first year with Ferrari in 1996.
AdamJLemon 1 year ago
@dojOdRiFTeR are we talking about the same Ferrari of 1999 when Irvine did not get the title for 2 points?this inferior car?Ferrari was never inferior just unreliable, until they hired Osamu Goto in 1994 Hondas chief engineer, by 1997 when he left the team Ferrari had the most reliable engine ever built.. Schumacher had no more than 4 engine failures in Ferrari and 5 in his carrier, 5 failures in 16 years,(Senna had more in each of his years) thats the real record and it was not his achievment
xpandia 1 year ago
@xpandia

The following year they replaced him with Rubens!!
irishguy200007 1 year ago
@irishguy200007

Rubens carried on the doing the same.
irishguy200007 1 year ago
@irishguy200007
Anime998877 1 year ago
@Anime998877 Irvine was beaten because the pit crew mysteriously !! took over 14 seconds instead of 7 seconds for a pit stop. Also the Ferrari mysteriously lost performance when the chassis suddenly lost performance and went from the best car to the worst car on the grid for two or three races. It was obvious that people loyal to Schumacher messed with the car.
irishguy200007 1 year ago
@irishguy200007
Anime998877 1 year ago
@Anime998877 Schumacher had the winning of the title in his hands for Irvine on the last race of the season.Schumacher obtained pole position and needed to win the race providing Irvine scored a few points.I knew Schumacher would not allow this and I was proven correct at that time when I said he would loose on purpose. He did by spinning the wheels at the start.
irishguy200007 1 year ago
@irishguy200007
What the hell are you talking about? Schumi was mathematically OUT of the championship in sepang. The only ones in were Irvine and Hakkinen. So Schumi needed to support Eddie for the championship and so let him through to win the race.

Furthermore - Irvine had ZERO pole positions in ferrari compared to Schumi's 13. Schumi had 16 wins to Irvine's 4. The following year Irvine left ferrari, ferrari didn't sack him. Besides - I think ferrari caught a break there, Rubens was waay better!

ok, I have to say I don't like Schumi very much and he was a good driver; but in my opinion the greatest rivalry in F1 history was Senna-Prost (as you can see in this great video), no Senna-Schummi; when Senna died it was the end of the best and most exciting F1 era... Shummi had Barichello for many years as second driver in Ferrari helping him to get the titles and it wasn't good for this sport as entertainment. That's why I prefer Senna and Prost even though Schumacher's got all the records.

You should see this season to understand that the Brawn's mafia is ruling the F1.
And that kills the spetaccolo.
RomelioSanzz 2 years ago
Dude thats bound to happen in a series that the teams design and create their own cars. There will always be a team that did their homework more than others and will dominate the season. Look at the history of F1, and there has been plenty of teams and drivers that dominated the season going all the way back to the times of Fangio, Ascari, and Moss. I dont get why fans complain of domination in F1, when its history is littered with it. Deal with it.
Rivelution 2 years ago
You should review all the F1 videos in Youtube, fans always remember the good seasons, when the races are interesting and more than one team fights for the championship, nobody well-known for example the Schumacher in Ferrari's championships, when he ran alone in the first place every sunday, now is happening the same with Brawn.
I am sure that the Brawn F1 car, was a concept developed from the Ferrari Ross Brawn's knowledge, so now he is only making the same schedule like in Ferrari.
