hi, ehm I am not an expert so I would like to know some tips to recognise if my two oranda are male or female. One is red and the other is calico. Thanx

Gah I can never tell a small fan tail froma small ryukin.. this little guy looks like a small ryukin to me!

@SmileChicky You're right it does look like a rynkin and I also sometimes cant tell the difference between the fan tail and the ryukin but this is one is a small fan tail. Thank you for watching and for your comment

@seeyou414 --about this cause, I actually know, it is because the supplier and pet store owner drug them to let them die quicker , so , we have to come back to buy again. :( That is why , in same condition, other healthy, while this groups of half donzen died all together after just same time--2 weeks. :( They also use smaller gold fish to feed other fish. Simply evil plans for make more money. I guess I will not buy more there.:(

I am thinking about breeding my own goldfish to give to friends now. :) Because they are sick and look that way too.

@beturlifeonit Your fantail might be a young one. This one is one of older fish 10 years now.Check to see if it may be sick and check it is eating.

What a cute baby! I like your goldfish. I have two fantail males and they are wonderful.I have named them Barney 5 and Barney 6. The previous fantails were Barney Happy and Ella. All are deceased but I decided to carry on the Barney name. They are all wonderful happy funny smart fish.

@laujiaqi 1 She gets bigger and more wider 2 belly area will become more bigger and if you under her belly area it will look like she has a giant bump. 3 vent area will become more larger with some females.

@laujiaqi You might have a female full of eggs. Check the vent area that is where the poop comes out and if you see like a white bloob or it has like a hole sticking out then you have a female. If you see a dent then you have a male

Oh he's lovely! Just like my fantail, Lebowski. I love fantails, so friendly and happy. I recently had problems with water nitrite levels and he wasn't a happy fish but thankfully he's much better. I'm going to change his water every four days now and I think I may have been over feeding him - typical mistakes, you know the score.

It depends on two things the size of the tank and the size of the fish you put in. You put a small goldfish or any other fish in a small tank it will only grow to a certain size. I have seen goldfish like mine in some store much bigger and in other stores around the size as mine.

@corrrey14 I know he is a male because when I got him he was in spawning.breeding mode meaning he had white dots on his gil cover which only males get these white dots. He does not have the white dots in this video but is thinner thatn my female also anohter that I would have know if by checking his anal fin that is where they poop males will have a small dent and females will have a while bloob

I think your tank is small ( according to some people) mine is same as yours and i have two fantails. Is that enough from them?

2 should be enough for this tank size for keeping and breeding. For me as long that both fish can move from one place to another without any problems then its ok.

Males will a little dent on there vent and females will have a little white bloob thing, Vent area is where they poop. Males when looked from above will be slimmer and females fat from the sides. If looking from them fron the front of the glass you see almost the same if from looking from above only females belly will be bigger.

Many goldfish will live over 5 years even up to 40 years or even more. Yes he will get as big as mine some may grow bigger or even smaller depending on how big your tank or bowl is. Many fish such a goldfish for example will grow bigger in the wild than in a home tank no matter how big you have it in.

I dont feed them everyday and when I feed them I only feed them once a day. To reduce the poop dont feed them for 2 days and if you feed them everyday and 3 or 2 times a day. Feed them once a day and reduce the amount of food you give them. I have some that are in a 1 galloon tank but for most people that is to small so If you wish to them a 1 galloon tank it's ok but I would put them in a 5 galloon tank or bigger.

Yes all of fish and animals that you see our mine. Sasha the paratkeet is the only one that is not mine and belongs to Irina a friend of mine who lives in Moscow Russia and was given as graduation gift. But because of wildlife rules I cant send it to her so its been taken care of by me.
