this is one of the greatest loves of my grandchildren and for me the story in their age line...I give thanks to the producer , voice over family, and to the finance group..Well done and enjoyable, quick and to the point. Blessings to all who gather here in the light of love, and appreciation for the prince of peace, the truth and the light...I love u..stay to the light and shine
Someone at work expanded on this story this year at our Christmas party. I was happy to shake his hand and thank him for keeping our party from being politically correct.
They were worried about offending non-Christians? I really find people complaining about the Christian messages in Christmas specials to be the most offensive. "Yeah, we'll take your gifts and the break, but don't you dare mention that this is a religious holiday."
The network suits did NOT want this scene in the "A Charlie Brown Christmas Special" (1965). Back in 1965 it was still considered a "controversical topic". I am glad Charles Schultz fought to keep this scene in the program. Now, this show is a CLASSIC. G-d Bless and Merry CHRISTmas. Jim.
@amateurbassplayer there are generations of children who have never seen Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck etc. al. I grew up watching them and my parents were fine with it, nowadays, those in charge feel that those cartoons are too violent for children. Guess they haven't seen what their kids are watching now. I grew up with those and I turned out just fine as did my sister.
*gasp* I'm surprised that this is allowed on youtube. but hey, you left out the last line where he says that's what christmas is all about charlie brown
we've become too politically correct. If I hear one more person refer to the Christmas Tree as a holiday tree I think I'll scream.Just so sad what this world has become, most especially at this time of year. Anyway I will just wish all a very Merry Christmas.
@nightswimmer99 The network suits and sponsors were very concerned because even back in 1965 mentioning the Holy Bible / Scriptures was controversial and they did not want to offend anyone. I am glad that Charles Schultz faught to keep the scene in the program. Even today, this show is a CLASSIC. I just got the DVD for CHRISTmas today. G-d Bless; Jim.
@parker6389 Religious or not, this really shouldn't be offensive. I'm unreligious, this doesn't mean much to me, but hey: like you said, it's a classic.
@MONA3803 as am I. I am so tired of being politically correct where Christmas is concerned. Heaven forbid you mention Jesus and the significance at this time of year.
This is beautiful. I watch it over and over again with a smile and a warm heart. Bless Charles M. Schulz for creating Peanuts. Indeed, CHRISTmas is ALL about CHRIST. Mankind, as history has proven, has consistently turn away and reject God and Jesus.
Talking about GOD is still acceptable, and will always be acceptable. The haters can hate because they are at least keeping the focus of the conversation ABOUT GOD. There is nothing to defend when the haters hate. Jesus sticks out HIS nail-scarred hands for the haters, too. Always has, always will. Linus is speaking the truth. Linus gives us the reason that it is called "Christ"mas, not "Santa"mas, or "Santa"day. Tell them again, and again, and again, Linus. Every time they replay this.
This is a children's vide. Your opinions are your own. But for the love of GOD, The world id begging you to NOT reproduce & ring your children up with your hatred. Why were you watching if "their is no GOD???
@generalporaboo its doesnt really matter. no one recorded birthdays back then. thats only really a modern thing. Historians do know that he was born sometime around the 25th give or take a couple days on either side.
@2666ification then why are you here watching this video if you were trying to stir something up, you failed horribly. I'm sorry you haven't witnessed the glory of the lord and I hope you find him, God Bless you even if you won't take it from me, i with you a merry christmas none the less
One of the only Christmas specials that actually talks about the true meaning of Christ-mas. That is another thing I would like to talk about. The word Christmas derived from the word Christ, I don't know why people think Christmas is about presents and Santa Claus. Yes, it's okay to get presents on Christmas, but it is truly about the birth of our savior and king, Jesus.
This is not about some theology but about a child's love of the Christ. Religion and politics never mix. You want to make the world a better place live your faith rather than just talk about it.
One of my favorite episodes of Charlie Brown. I wish that it was still as acceptable to talk about Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior like then. Maybe the world would be a little better to live in. America was founded on God and we are getting away from that. Not having God as our country's foundation is probably the reason why America is in so much trouble right now.
Charles Schultz loved God and wasn't ashamed of him and he showed it in his cartoones. Christmas is all about the birth of Jesus Christ. Happy Birthday to my Lord!
its sad how people dont like god in this generation. i love him. my voices dont though.. theyre ruining my heart and life.. i pray to jesus like every 10 seconds.. i had a dream about hell last night.. ugh.. i dislike fallen angels
When all the adults say is wahhh wahhh wahhh wahhh wahhh wahh, it is totally understandable why Charlie Brown doesn't understand what Christmas is all about.
If you notice there's an animation goof. He picks up his blanket in the long shot, then when it's a close up again, he again picks up his blanket and walks off
@CassandraDayAlias When he says 'and on Earth peace, and goodwill towards men' he has it in his hand. Then he picks it up in the closeup shot when leaving the stage
I would take any excuse that I could, such as Christmas, to worship the One who died for me. Why look for reasons, such as paganism, to give an excuse not to celebrate the only true holiday left that focues on Jesus. I am not worshipping a pagan god, I have my eyes only on Jesus Christ.
It's a nice little story, though it doesn't change the fact that Christmas and the tradition and surroundings of it are actually based on the ancient pagan celebration of Yule, also known as Winter Solstice.
@Angie2343 - actually, after this special 1st aired... some believers were offended that a cartoon character was saying scriptures from the Bible... on TV
@Angie2343; The network suits did NOT want this scene in the "A Charlie Brown Christmas Special" (1965). Back in 1965 it was still considered a "controversical topic". i don't care if it used to be a pagan holiday, thats not what it is now. I don't get why so many people get offended. Even if you are not christian you still get off work and everything is on sale, and everybody is a lot cheerier than most of the year. So don't complain.
Luke 2: 8-14 ~ Linus quotes the true meaning of Christmas but he gets it all from God's Word. Honestly life was much better when this world was not afraid to spread the Gospel.
Christ was not born on december 25 thats a pagan holiday that the christians turned "good" they keep the fat man called santa claus who doesnt exist and call it the holiday magic as far as i know magic is o the enemy not of God! the bible never states when He was born... That really doesnt matter what matters is that He died and rose again for all us... Celebrate His resurrection the fact that your alive and have hope because of Him!
@Luneytoons03 - We can also celebrate that we actually know that Jesus died for us and rose again...for all of us! Alot of Christian organization don't put alot of emphasis on the fat man in the suit for the reason that you are stating, the magical part. Celebrate what you know to be truth!
