No... Hunting is for the hungry. I can understand hunting for food, what I don't condone is hunting for sports (like fox hunts in england). I like social distorsion but that's just bullshit. First of all, I would bet most people who are tired of the liberal bullshitsky want to see animals used for food killed as humainely as possible -- that's a fact! maybe he should get rid of those old cars which pollute the environment as well. I hate when other people tell you what you should do simply because they are famous.
There was a challenged women working for slaughter houses in Texas. Through her disability she saw things that could be done to reduce horror. After several mindless male jokes, her weight was felt. As compassionate regulations run; she's reinventing the wheel. Lift her up for seeing the odvious. I'm not handicapped - saw & can see several calmer operations. Like Japanese beef, came from a happy animal. I myself favor shell fish.
@jandy162 I respect your opinion man, but have you considered the emissions comparison between restoring an old car versus crushing it, and completely manufacturing a new one just because it gets maybe 10 mpg more? The carbon footprint is no question, you produce more emissions making a "green" car than restoring what you already have. Just another point to consider
Small caveat: here in Michigan, the deer population is completely out of hand. There are now deer roaming suburban neighborhoods! The Dept. of Natural Resources called for a 30% reduction in herd numbers to just control the crazy population growth. if a family can get fed natural organic meats while thinning the herd--AND helping keep some deer out of my windshield--i say Bravo! just sayin....and I am NOT a hunter. But I will work for venison chili!
Worldwide, the global meat trade is concentrated in few major markets. Expansion of meat marketing mainly hypermarkets and supermarkets are increasing meat retailing, which in turn is increasing demand.
In terms of consumption, Asia-Pacific constitutes the largest as well as fastest growing regional market for Fresh Meat. Though vegetarianism is the current fad in the West, the Asian market, where the green revolution began, is turning to meat!
Everything he said is on the money and was well put. People who deny or don't care about the cruelty and horror associated with meat haven't seen the countless hours of video of sadistic desensitized assholes who make life and death even more hellish for the animals they kill.
Eat pasta, rice, beans, salads, awesome fruit, and vegetable dishes flavored with all kinds of herbs and spices. Leave seafood in for awhile if you have to. That's gross, too - but a step in the right direction.
Its not all about just being green its about being cruelty free. The amount of good his music has done for the world far outweighs whatever his cars are doing.
I really think it's honorable that he's taken up the cause, more power to him. I could never do that, for one, I'm not a big veggy fan and I love meat.
I really have issue's with the treatment of animals though. Which is why the wife and I have boycotted any chicken sold in stores and restaurants, that isn't free range. Everyone has their beliefs and that's cool. I don't have an issue with people eating meat, but have real issue's with the treatment of animals. Know where your food comes from.
haha "free range" meat. As if that makes you better than anyone else for being a carnivore.
Seriously man, go to your dentite whether he be what religion, and ask him why humans have canine teeth-they are for tearing food. Whence the way of the vegetarian zombism. They all look like scare crows in a death camp.
@hipps1000 Hey hipps! If you are an animal that eats animals, and animals eat animals, why dont you eat people?
And as long as people dont think ahead and plan for their own environment and just react to stimuli based on their instincts, thats what they are. Animals.
If you really think you have balls, then stop hiding behind excuses and have some responsibility, you know, like a man, and not like a child or an animal.
As much as i like Mike Ness i got to make a point .Mike Ness said something that made him a hypocrite .First:He says dont eat meat and dont kill animals and then he wears a lether jacket and they are made of cow skin.
Second:He loves his Chevy that spits more smoke than Lemmy Kilmister and then he talks about how green he is.Third:Animals eat animals humans are animals meat is good for us so i say Mike Ness needs to think about what he says.I leave the awsomeness to Tim Armstrong now.
He's high again, wtf.. the body language the eyes his skin tone and weight.. My hero stopped doing that a long time ago, and hes doing what he did in 1994 again. Is he sick? I love what he's saying and I'm with him whole heartedly, but does anybody else notice he's off his nut?
I understand where vegetarians and vegans come from, and I respect it, but the fact of the matter is, it's a basic instinct for carnivorous/omnivorous animals to eat other animals, and who are we to deny our basic instincts? And as for the "cook the family dog" argument, it's because dogs are animals that we get attached to and have been nothing but our friends since the beginning. Pigs, cows, chickens, there's no attachment there. They've always just been sources of food to us.
You're human, you don't have to act on every instinct you have. That's what separates us from the beasts. We can feel one way, but if we can predict undesirable outcomes, we can say "no". Just because it's in your genes, it doesn't mean you lose freedom of choice. It's an argument that's just as flimsy as most vegetarians'.
Not saying that eating meat is wrong though. I love a good steak every now and then myself.
Dont hunt its cool let the deer grow in hordes. So the next time your out drivin you little Import "hemp oil burner" and smash into a 175-185 lbs deer at 65 MPH, youll thank the ppl who hunt. Hunting helps knock down the numbers of wild animals per year not "wipe" then out just keep em in check is all. GTFO i if you wanna sip wheatgrass juice and write poetry then fine thats cool just stop telling us meat eaters our problems. After all arent Meat eaters at teh top of the food chain?
I love the idea of what Mr.Ness is trying to do here its great to have a cause to fight for really. I myself am not a fan of the crazy methods put forth to slaughter animals it looks hella wrong. But i also noticed that Mr.Ness there had a collection of pretty old cars very nice ones i must add..... i wonder if he had them all emissions tested? Did he put unleaded burning engines in them??? I mean if ones gonna be balls out on something go all the way.... Yes i am a fan of him and his music.
I say fuck you to anybody who says Hunting is for sissy's. Without hunting I wouldn't be alive today. My family would have starved if my father hadn't killed a few animals.
Fuck people who say that kind of shit. Im almost positive if any of them were in a situation were its -20 degrees outside and not a piece of fruit or vegetable in site the wouldn't mind going out and killing an animal for self preservation.
by seeing this clip this guy has gained so much respect to me...
and another thing: how can people be offended by someone just because he´s not eating meat and advocating for peacefull behaviour towards other creatures?
I mean you can disagree but you shouldn´t be offended and if you are maybe it´s the feeling of guilt that´s driving you there
I think every person should stand up for what he/she believes in and is entitled to his/her opinion and if Mike Ness feels that a vegetarian lifestyle is good for him and the environment. Just let him be. I think it's great he speaks out for those who don't have a voice. By the way I still don't understand why you guys are making a big issue out of this, Mike Ness has been a vegetarian for years!!
Actually it has been proven that meat causes more damage to the environment than driving the most fuel sucking car. Since the documentary "Meat The Truth" there is a new saying for that "It's better to have a vegetarian driving a hummer than a meat eater driving a Toyota Prius"
I fully understand the message of peta, @jessiemongeon has a valid point. Mankind has survived off of meat. Part of what Mike Ness was saying was based on the way the animals are killed so viciously. There is most likely a way to eat animals without there suffering. To each his own, but put thought into everything...
Cattle grazing systems on native grassland in the northern United States are reducing greenhouse gases, a new study reports.
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) researchers set out to get a local perspective on European conclusions that managed grasslands are greenhouse gas sinks—(although when methane and nitrous oxide emissions were taken into account, the greenhouse gas balance in the European sites was closer to neutral).
In 2007, only 2.8 percent of U.S. greenhouse emissions came from animal agriculture, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. This number has remained nearly constant since 1990, which is impressive considering the U.S. increases in meat production of almost 50 percent over the same time period.
News flash Einstein, your 54 chevy, 34 ford and 55 caddy ain't green either. Badass musician but quite the little hypocrite I'd say. I'm sure he means well and I guess that's important. Go vegan if you want, I won't condemn someone for what they choose to eat but throwing the word "green" around while sitting in a garage full of hotrods & customs? C'mon dude.
I like Mike Ness and I understand what he's saying and that's cool. I don't support peta though. Things their leaders have said make me doubt their sincerity.
Their cause is just, but I don't believe them. They're too busy engaging in Karl Rove tactics of attack instead of addressing the main issue. They'd rather sling mud than actually help. The message is important, but so are actions.
They're careless with their words and their actions muddle their message. It's quite sad, really.
Douche. "Hunting is for sissy's". Only if you are a pussy. Hunting is not cruel or inhumane. It helps balance the populations that have been displaced by human development. It feeds us free range organic food that is gatherd off of the land locally unlike organc veggies trucked across the country. This guy is full of hot air and unfounded ideas.
@jessiemongeon i hear what your saying, i don't eat meat, (well warm blooded meat anyway) but you bet your ass if the world went to shit i'm gonna go out and kill little bunny rabbit for my own survial. thats why man kind lasted as long as it has. however i do agree with mike on the treatment of corporate livestock, its pathetic what they do to these animals! have no problem with elmer fud going out and getting his rabbit the ole fashioned way!
Y TU, peta2tv, LIBERTAD DE EXPRESION!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mike Ness is awesome but I have to disagree with him on the whole PETA thing, Hunting is vital to wildlife existence, The one thing I do agree with is that abuse should have consenquences and repercussions for butchers and slaughterhouses.
Climate Change is a giant frickin' hoax. Ness's music's still top notch, but he needs to learn a thing about politics and PETA seems to be a giant hoax to. BTW I am vegetarian as well. I just know the score on AL Gore and his "climate change" hoax.
Vegetarian for 16 years here myself and I'm also not falling for the "Climate change" hoax as well as any other NWO dogma. Vegetarian/Vegan for race & nation!
cant hate him for takin a stand for what he believes in... atleast he is takin a stand! there is alot in this world we should be standing up for! why does everyone just have to take there kicks at the ones who are doin so!! i mean cmon now!
which seems the perfect time to give a shout out to my man Jesus!
stop throwin yer kicks and use those feets to stand! learn yer history, learn the lies, read yer Bibles
first off cows, pigs, and chickens are not wildlife. They are livestock; which are all domesticated animals. Another thing is if he is against killing animals then why does he wear a cowboy hat made out of animal skin?
@votejello Peta 2 asks the people for an interview. They show up at a show and ask him for his opinion for the feature. He's doing an interview for the organization for cause he believes in but he's not joining anything per se..
@votejello Right. Not to mention the vast majority of critters that are killed or stripped of the land it takes to produce grain. If your not a veggie I guess your the enemy . Conversely, I could give a rats ass less if you want to eat grass and tofu. Isn't their room for everybody? If not I guess YOU gotta go veggie. Is that how its gonna be? Sounds like the opposing views logic might not sit too well if placed on that foot. Plants are alive. Do they feel pain when harvested? Ive heard YES.
c'mon mike do you really care about animal cruelty, do you actually have that inside your mind when your buying your leather Jackets, shoes and im sure your wife as a few mink coats in her closet, do you really think they treated those animals better than the ones that end up in a nice juicy steak dinner? lol big ups hommie your still fuckn rock!!!
I saved my family tons of money this year by hunting two deer. I think by providing for my family and killing those deer quickly is perfectly acceptable. I love social distortion, and mike ness. I'm also firmly against animal cruelty, but there's no reason to join a radical group like peta. Just because i'm a hunter doesn't mean i have to join the NRA.
hmm i love mike ness and ive been a social d fan for a long time but if hes so"make the world a better place" then what about all those gasoline burning cars back there? does he not care about air polution? and using all these fossil fuels? its cool if he wants to be a vegitarian then just say that but dont be a hypocrite mike.
I thought the same thing, but the gas mileage between that and some other car isn't that big of a deal. At least the driving a classic car isn't cruel.
Oh, and another thing: how did your ancestors survive the long winters? It sure as heck wasn't by eating tofu and protesting the wearing of fur. I can hear it now: "Deer are people too! What about their feelings? Let's stop the murder of innocent animals and eat berries and corn!"
@FreebeeE36 People don't need to eat meat. It's all bullshit. Animal Protein isn't even the best source of protein. Whey is. Whey>Eggs>Soy then fish and meat. Fish and meat is actually the least effective source of protein because our digestive system isn't built specifically for meat the way a wolf or a dogs digestive system is. Meat is very hard on the digestive system, whey, eggs and soy get absorbed very easily, meat does not.
It's understandable that people think we need meat. Ignorance.
Mike Ness, you are a complete idiot who is no one to preach to people! There are more Deer in the wild than there were 100 years ago. Do YOU know why? I do, its because of hunters. I bet you'll never figure that one out ! I can if you care to come on here , be a man, and debate me ?!?!?
I think it's fucked up taking a chicken or pig or cow or what ever and like beat the fuck out of it because what it's gonna die anyway we're gonna eat it what does it matter. Well I respect the animal but I also know I need it to survive. I'm not gonna sit here and say well it's cruel to eat animals. It's not cruel it's life. But have some respect for them and don't miss tear them just because they're gonna get slaughtered anyway.
I think it's fine to eat meat but there is a right way and wrong way to kill an animal. I also believe if you use all of the animal that's being sacrificed to this stupid human race than it makes the cause more acceptable. Am I the only one that feels more compassion for animals than people? :)
this is stupid. we're animals, we eat meat. someone come up with a better, more efficient, more land conserving way to raise enough livestock to meet america's needs..or stop bitching about it- anyone can point out a problem, very few can actually come up with a solution (and "just eat tofu" doesnt work for me) how did mike ness get fat eating tofu anyway?
it is kinda hypocritical to say somehting not being green when he has a row of 30's 40' 50's cars behind him.. i dont care really, but it makes him sound like a hypocrite. i love sd and mike ness, but couldnbt he have shot this in like an office or somehting...? i love the cars tho...36 ford.. i want one. i dont really concern with global warming...
I've been a Social D fan since I first saw them nearly thirty years ago but my Smug Alert is really going off like crazy on this. If you want to be vegetarian or vegan, more power to you but to assert that factory farming is the number one cause of global warming? You gotta be kidding me. I'm waiting to have that proven to me scientifically. My wife comes from a long line of farmers and ranchers and they are some of the best stewards of the environment you can find.
Gotta disagree with Mike despite my man love for him. You can't compare dogs/cats with cows, pigs and chickens. We as a society have grown to accept a dog/cat as one of our own just as we as a society have accepted that we eat chicken, meat and pork. We do not eat dog or cat in this country so his analogy of "would you kill your own dog" is moot since most of us consider those kinds of animals as a part of our family.
I'm a huge SD fan and like Ness' solo stuff too, seen him live several times over the decades but I could not disagree more with this message. I eat meat, have bought it at the store hunted and fished. If anything, hunting and processing the food has made me more appreciative of the animal and that something died for me to live. I don't hunt for ego or trophies but to put healthy food in the freezer. Humans are no different than owls, cats or sharks in this regard, part of the chain of life.
You can't compare having a car, to torture and cruelly. He's making a real statement, that means something. Anyone who can't see that has a screw loose. And any guy that feels it's ok to hunt. You are a sissy and trying to make up for your small pen**! Don't even get me started on chicks who hunt. Oh, and for the record. Just because something has been around for ages, doesn't mean it's acceptable now or even then. Come on people seriously.
I dont understand whats sissy about hunting. When you hunt, you have to have the balls to pull the trigger and turn out the lights of another living thing. Some people cant do that. Everyone that wants to eat meat should have to hunt for it once so they know where it's really coming from, and that a living thing had to lay down it's life for your dinner. I can pull the trigger, so I eat meat. I know where it comes from. On some level, it is earned.
No... Hunting is for the hungry. I can understand hunting for food, what I don't condone is hunting for sports (like fox hunts in england). I like social distorsion but that's just bullshit. People are omnivores, we eat everything. Do you think a lion questions if the gazele was suffering when he hunted it? I think not. It's how nature is suppose to be. People like to talk about perserving nature, well the first thing on my mind would be to keep the food chain as it's suppose to be :P

United Nations - 300 million tons of meat needed
Worldwide, the global meat trade is concentrated in few major markets. Expansion of meat marketing mainly hypermarkets and supermarkets are increasing meat retailing, which in turn is increasing demand.
In terms of consumption, Asia-Pacific constitutes the largest as well as fastest growing regional market for Fresh Meat. Though vegetarianism is the current fad in the West, the Asian market, where the green revolution began, is turning to meat!
waratahNSW 1 year ago
Everything he said is on the money and was well put. People who deny or don't care about the cruelty and horror associated with meat haven't seen the countless hours of video of sadistic desensitized assholes who make life and death even more hellish for the animals they kill.
Eat pasta, rice, beans, salads, awesome fruit, and vegetable dishes flavored with all kinds of herbs and spices. Leave seafood in for awhile if you have to. That's gross, too - but a step in the right direction.

FirstStarBodMod 1 year ago 3
@FirstStarBodMod
haha "free range" meat.

They've always just been sources of food to us.
jimmyjazz82391 1 year ago
@jimmyjazz82391

But people who hunt for sport piss me off.

TeenageHeadcase 1 year ago
Actually it has been proven that meat causes more damage to the environment than driving the most fuel sucking car. Since the documentary "Meat The Truth" there is a new saying for that "It's better to have a vegetarian driving a hummer than a meat eater driving a Toyota Prius"
TeenageHeadcase 1 year ago
I fully understand the message of peta, @jessiemongeon has a valid point. Mankind has survived off of meat. Part of what Mike Ness was saying was based on the way the animals are killed so viciously. There is most likely a way to eat animals without there suffering. To each his own, but put thought into everything...

Cattle grazing systems on native grassland in the northern United States are reducing greenhouse gases, a new study reports.
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) researchers set out to get a local perspective on European conclusions that managed grasslands are greenhouse gas sinks—(although when methane and nitrous oxide emissions were taken into account, the greenhouse gas balance in the European sites was closer to neutral).
waratahNSW 1 year ago
In 2007, only 2.8 percent of U.S. greenhouse emissions came from animal agriculture, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. This number has remained nearly constant since 1990, which is impressive considering the U.S. increases in meat production of almost 50 percent over the same time period.

Oh, and another thing: how did your ancestors survive the long winters? It sure as heck wasn't by eating tofu and protesting the wearing of fur. I can hear it now: "Deer are people too! What about their feelings? Let's stop the murder of innocent animals and eat berries and corn!"
eindatadog01 2 years ago
My ancestors didn't eat corporate meat prepared on factory farms in incredibly horrible conditions.
It's not a necessity in this age to eat meat. One can live quite comfortably as a vegan or vegetarian.
ShockBack 2 years ago
im completely against the animal cruelties, but people need to eat meat!
FreebeeE36 2 years ago 4
@FreebeeE36 People don't need to eat meat. It's all bullshit. Animal Protein isn't even the best source of protein. Whey is. Whey>Eggs>Soy then fish and meat. Fish and meat is actually the least effective source of protein because our digestive system isn't built specifically for meat the way a wolf or a dogs digestive system is. Meat is very hard on the digestive system, whey, eggs and soy get absorbed very easily, meat does not.
It's understandable that people think we need meat. Ignorance.
ronnysoeberg 2 years ago
Mike Ness, you are a complete idiot who is no one to preach to people! There are more Deer in the wild than there were 100 years ago. Do YOU know why? I do, its because of hunters. I bet you'll never figure that one out ! I can if you care to come on here , be a man, and debate me ?!?!?
V8Deuce 2 years ago
I think it's fucked up taking a chicken or pig or cow or what ever and like beat the fuck out of it because what it's gonna die anyway we're gonna eat it what does it matter. Well I respect the animal but I also know I need it to survive. I'm not gonna sit here and say well it's cruel to eat animals. It's not cruel it's life. But have some respect for them and don't miss tear them just because they're gonna get slaughtered anyway.
VitotheSkull1981 2 years ago
I think it's fine to eat meat but there is a right way and wrong way to kill an animal. I also believe if you use all of the animal that's being sacrificed to this stupid human race than it makes the cause more acceptable. Am I the only one that feels more compassion for animals than people? :)

LovelyChelsea 2 years ago
I dont understand whats sissy about hunting. When you hunt, you have to have the balls to pull the trigger and turn out the lights of another living thing. Some people cant do that. Everyone that wants to eat meat should have to hunt for it once so they know where it's really coming from, and that a living thing had to lay down it's life for your dinner. I can pull the trigger, so I eat meat. I know where it comes from. On some level, it is earned.
