The problems was not only the crashes but the prosesor being wongly used.w7 are similar with vista but microsoft have solved some of the problems.For example 2 programs in vista would run on the same procecor while the other 3 are inactive and unused!Now in w7 1 programe runs in the 1st proc. and the other in the 3rd.Thats why vista was a faillior.But most people cant see the difference

Even VistaHB out-of-the-box is fine BUT over time driver conflicts and the like will slow down any PC, I'm using it now on my 6 year old e-machine ....once you've killed the bloatware the manufacturer put on and disabled the features you don't need it runs like a dream ...I have Win7Pro on my laptop ...it rocks. - But the idea of paying for x-box live was a deal breaker ....so I play games on a PS3.

You can build a computer for half of the price of a top range mac, and it could easily outperform it. But you need to know how to use your machine, on a MAC you don't need to know as much. I am an avid programmer / gamer, so MAC just hasnt got what i need. Moving onto music and video, mac does offer great gui for all of this. But i can do it all on my pc. So i dont see the need in having one, my opinion has changed slightly since my last comment. Macs are good, but not as good

It is free yes....but it cannot play half of the games that Windows can, nor can it cater to people's experience with One Click solutions to installing and uninstalling drivers/software/etc... It takes more understanding of how a computer works than Windows demands.
