As a classically trained singer I see NOTHING wrong with the way she is breathing. I don't see or hear any straining or tension. She is breathing correctly and is not belting or sliding for notes. She's simply talented and has a mature tone. Yes, you can artificially make this tone, but we'd notice tension and strain in her voice and shoulders/neck. I think kids who try to sing like pop singers are doing a million times more damage to their voices than this little girl. Keep singing Jackie!
For those people who critique about Jackie's vocal technique, I'm not a singer, and not even know how to sing, but one thing I'm very sure about it is, no matter what technique and whatsoever, the greatest thing about singing is to get people touching and inspired people. She sings below her maximum capacity (using a microphone), gets adequate rest between sessions, and does not have any of the contributory risk factors, such as smoking, so she is NOT at risk for vocal cord damage. She is also being looked after by some of the top otolaryngologists in the country, and monitored on a regular basis.

It isn't natural for her to be singing about her age, and, I promise that she will NOT have a voice by the time shes 25 if she keeps singing this way. I feel bad for the girl. She sings below her maximum capacity (using a microphone), gets adequate rest between sessions, and does not have any of the contributory risk factors, such as smoking, so she is NOT at risk for vocal cord damage. She is also being looked after by some of the top otolaryngologists in the country, and monitored on a regular basis.

After a hard day trading the stock market.. I put on my head set and I sit here watching Jackie perform. As she sings, gentle tears roll down my cheek as her voice touches my soul and brings me close to God to which I humbly thank for sending such a precious angel to us.
I never tire of her music as it is impossible to tire of PERFECTION. I've stopped answering the Nay sayers nor do I read their comments. I'm going to be 65 and Jackie, I pray that I get to listen to you till I'm a 100..

I'm a huge fan of hers and it gets sickening how people come on here and criticize her without doing any research, or find faults where there are none to boost their egos. This "undeveloped singer" was ranked top Classical Albums Artist for 2011 by Billboard magazine, and was also the best-selling debut artist of 2010, and the youngest top-10 debut artist in U.S. history. She is no longer an "undeveloped singer".

What a lot of people don't seem to understand, or don't want to understand, is that Jackie is a prodigy who creates her own style, within the classical crossover genre. Prodigies are known for being pioneers in their fields, and breaking the rules. The opera critics need to give it a rest already because their tradition does not apply here.
